I love how in adult EJ the bitterness and scars are overlaid with hardcore competency but even though she is much more functional, she's hidden her heart further away. And oh, poor poor darling messed-up Ki Hoon, all in black. How symbolic.

Yes, I am metaing a freaking preview.

I had to download it from youtube and watch it another hundred times, I thought I couldn't wait for ep 5 before but now I'm just rabid!

I love EJ's competence too, and it's especially telling considering what we see of HS in the preview - she's getting whipped, she's crying in the hallway, she's clinging to KH. EJ, on the other hand, is working, doing her own thing, and keeping her emotions in check as the man (and the boy) from her past returns.

gogomoksori translated a bit of the preview for me, and apparently Ki Hoon is asking Eun Jo IN POLITE SPEECH, "Do you remember me?"

I love you for putting this up!!! I'm not liking Eun Jo's new hairstyle though; i have an issue with the fact that in most dramas women have to cut their hair to play a competent woman.

Other than that I totally agree with you! Including the addiction part. I've watched the preview more than 5 times just to analyze who's looking at who, etc.

I actually love EJ's new haircut because I find it symbolic. Not of her new business status, but personality.

In the older days, she pinned her hair but it was long and could be let down (vulnerability). But now it's all chopped off - sort of the way she's enclosed herself further. It's a very severe, almost ascetic cut.

Seo Woo is very pretty in the preview and I start to be used to EJ's new haircut. Through the trailer I think JW will work for HS's father.

The new haircut for Seo Woo really makes her look gorgeous (even more pretty than she looked in Tamra). I actually really like EJ's haircut too - it's a very severe cut, making her look even more inside her own shell, somehow - oddly pure and untouchable.

I have to say, JW's cut is horrible though. Unless they meant to imply he's so poor he can't afford to go to a barber and literally cuts his hair by placing a bowl on top of his head and cutting around.

I decided to follow CU on the pace of wS2 subs, so no peeking. I'm really liking it so far and looking forward to the next episodes.

I'm not watching any raws of the new dramas this time around so I'm actually able to manage all 4 of them. Yeah, I decided to add Dong Yi as well... could not resist.

Well, I think it's not so much about willpower than the fact that I'm not obsessed with any of them. Sageuks usually have this tendency turn me into a rabid obsessive, so let's see how it goes when I start Dong Yi. :)

I love this trailer. It really makes it seem like EJ is very cut off now. But, it also makes me thing that she and her stepfather get on alright. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of angst now - we got too many OTPness in the first four episodes. I think there will be a lot of angst now. The trailer makes it look like JW and HS know each other - they look at one another in a meaningful way; but, it could just be tricky editing.


I am too obsessed with this show. It's not good - I've got finals in three weeks! Must study and not think about CU. . .I don't know if it will work!


Re HS: She looks really beautiful now. Finally, Seo Woo looks like herself! She looked so plastic at first, it made me sad. But, slowly, they've been letting up on the make-up and it's great. The fact that she gets caned and is crying makes it seem like she's the party-girl now, who messes up a lot. It makes me think that she'll resent EJ for all EJ is now. I read that the narrative will change at one point to focus more on HS and explore why she acts the way she does now. That should be really interesting.

I noticed that too. In the first 4 eps, despite everything he had going on, he was just such a lovely warm person - it made me a little happier just looking at him - I could see why EJ was drawn to him, it wasn't just his understanding but his joy. But now it's done. No smiles any more :(

She really is breathtaking after the time jump. It makes sense she's a partygirl, not good for much - even before EJ brought out the worst in her, she was sweet but not motivated or strong-willed or really into anything. I love how both EJ and HS are these fascinating, flawed characters.

Side note - Korea is certainly different from how I grew up. Who on earth canes their grownup daughter? HS has got to be 24! WTF? Culture differences and all that but I am never ever going to be OK with this.

That's true. She loved ballet, but ballet is a tricky thing. One injury and it's over; if you get too tall or weigh too much, it's over; etc, etc. It would be fascinating to learn that the dad wanted her to marry someone that had a good company or if he wanted her to marry someone he could bring into their company, and she refused because she wanted to dance. And then, things didn't work out in the ballet department.

HS, while I'm sure I'll want her to DIAF at some points and I find her annoying a lot, is really shaping up to be a flawed character that I look forward to seeing. Where will she go? How has her anger with EJ grown in eight years? Etc.

I've seen it done in other Korean dramas. I know my parents whipped us with a belt until we were about eleven or so. But, I don't think they'd whip us with a belt now that we are 23, 25, and 29. Thank goodness we aren't Korean!



Angst is coming. I think we got too many cute and OTP moments in the first four episodes. The next two weeks should be like Angst Fest '10


But, I am loving that EJ looks like a total HBIC, whose cut herself off from feelings, but is still doing the business like nobody else can. Why? Because she waited. In the preview, EJ says that she waited. Aw. She thought KH had gone to the army (via HS telling her that) and so EJ stayed and waited for eight years, thinking he'd be back in two - when she would have been 19/20.

Personal edit: I hadn't watched the trailer with subtitles. I guess EJ just says she's waiting for him to do something. But, I think she was also waiting for him. Remember when KH said she should runaway when she turns 20? Well, that was three years in the future and (I think) men serve two years in the army. I bet she was waiting for him on some level. Yes, she thinks he just abandoned her, but I bet EJ still sometimes thought he'd come back.

What I'm wondering is: Did HS lie about dating KH and if so - why? Just to hurt EJ? Because she wants it to be true? What? And, if it's true, then why has KH not contacted EJ, but contacted HS? If it's true, then. . . could HS have lied and told KH that EJ wanted nothing to do with him and had forgotten him? Mmm...

I was very excited about the preview. So excited that I ran straight to soompi to get some translation.

The thing is, I'm excited but I don't even know what to expect. I have a feeling that I'll be getting a lot of surprised come episode 5 & 6. We're going to be getting all new dynamics and situations and it'll almost be like a brand new drama so I really really can't wait.
