Amidala's Panoply of Fashions
Mar. 14th, 2005 03:18 pmWhat's a girl to do when she finds out that she is targeted for assasination, the Republic is dead, and the love of her life has turned Evil with a capital "E"? Why, go shopping of course.
I, Dangermousie, proudly present to you some of Princess/Queen/Senator/SexBunny Amidala's costumes. Katranna, maybe that will persuade you to see the movie, na?
Placed behind the cut because of the staggering amount of pics.
I am beginning to suspect Anakin turned to the Dark Side merely to support his wife's shopping habit!
Amidala imitates an Egyptian Pharaoh:

And that is why the woman jumps at the future Dark Lord. With outfits like this, I doubt she has a surfeit of suitors:

I love this dress. Very Renaissance inspired. Anakin seems to be equally delighted. Maybe because for once she is not painted like a corpse and is showing more than a millimiter of flesh:

And now we know that Leia's hideous outfit was a hand-me-down from Mummy:

This is humongous-sized, but the detail is worth it. I want this dress:

The dress that mesmerized the Dark Lord (I love the gold detail):

Space Cher:

I hope that's not for the wedding night:

The missing link between humans and lobsters:

Oh Amidala, a chicken died for you!

Simple and elegant:

Ugh:

Love the detailing on the cap. So does Anakin:

This is so gloriously, Joan Crawfordishly 30s-women's-movie over the top. I love it:

Very Renaissance portrait:

That hairdo is too too out there:

Yup, Anakin is turning into quite a fashion-oriented lad. Look how intensely he gazes on the detailing on that fabric:

Ahh, the symbolism! Do you not weep at the depth and meaning of this? For she is in White and he is in Black. Ahhh, the mystery, the sophistication of it! No wonder she gave the kids away. Can you imagine explaining the wedding photos? "Mommy, where is Daddy and why is he wearing a mullet?" "Oh, honey, Daddy is away destroying the Universe, but I have no excuse for the mullet."

Date: 2005-03-14 10:07 pm (UTC)But,
a) who the hell does her hair?
b) How does she not age?
c) and, otherwordly or not, why is she wearing a kimono in one shot, Pharaoh-dress in another, Chinese/Mongolian garb in a third, and then abruptly switches to Renaissance-early 1600's clothes? That kind of inconsistency is not very believable.

Date: 2005-03-14 10:16 pm (UTC)I think Renaissance clothes are her "seduction outfit" I think if she was serious about the whole "no, we can nevah evah see each other" angst, she should have kept on wearing the lobster outfits. That would have put Anakin off her real quick. But yup, costume consistency is not the strength :)
Re: hair. I love it. Come on, it's so gloriously over the top, how can you not?

P.S. Ha ha, she likes the young boys...
P.P.S. While you're looking up pics, gimme a few Bollywood ones to work with for your layout!

I am going to look up some pics for you.
Btw, call me this evening?

(here from metaquotes. Carry on.)

Date: 2005-03-16 12:02 am (UTC)I think the answer to most questions is to go shopping. It may not help with the war, but from the appearance of her clothes it could save the entire retail business.
I need those clothes! *has no closet space*

Date: 2005-03-16 12:09 am (UTC)Who's in your avatar, if you don't mind me asking?
I don't think the closet space would save you. These outfits require a separate house for their maintenance. What I want to know is: the ship she travels on is teeny. Where are they all stored?

Date: 2005-03-16 12:20 am (UTC)*grins* I figure the rest of the house would be expendable. After I watch it, my mind is going "Wait, so if i wander around the desert and make out with hot, although mulleted, guys, I can have awesome clothes?
You've never watched "Lost"? It's a t.v. show on abc. It's a piture of Sawyer, one of the main, and hottest, characters. He's also angsty, Josh Holloway is an amazing actor, and I will stop now because this will go on forever.

ROFL! That itself should go on metaquotes! Lucky Padme, her hubby even loses the mullet in Ep 3.

Date: 2005-03-16 02:01 am (UTC)Lucky Padme :)I wonder how she convinced him to do that. I know how hard it is to convince guys to cut their hair, as I have ample experience in that area. They seriously cannot let it go. At least he looks hot with the longish hair, because some guys can't pull it off and they look like rebels on crack.
Ooooh, watch Lost! Do you want the showtimes? They're in reruns now, but new eps. are returning on March 30.

Date: 2005-03-16 02:52 am (UTC)Oooh yes, showtimes please!
Btw, I like Ayn Rand too.
Re: hair. Apparently, they initially were considering a mohawk for ep 3 *scared* Maybe the braid is a training jedi thing, so when he stopped being that he finally got the haircut he was always longing for :)

Date: 2005-03-16 11:58 am (UTC)Which books of hers have you read? The first one I read was Atlas Shrugged, quickly followed by The Fountainhead.
Eeeew, a mohawk? Along with mullets, rat tails, and jewfros, nobody should ever have a mohawk ever. Ever. I feel very strongly about this. Maybe that's why jedi's don't usually have romance, because they are forced to have bad hair. Hey, who knows what goes on in George Lucas's mind?
