1. You know, Stepfather, you feel so bad for Eun Jo being in pain? WELL, MAYBE IF YOU DIDN'T BEAT HER BADLY ENOUGH TO BREAK A NUMBER OF CANES AND SO BADLY SHE WAS BLEEDING, COULDN'T STAND, AND ALMOST FAINTED BECAUSE SHE WOULDN'T SAY SORRY, THIS WOULDN'T HAPPEN. I WANT YOU TO FUCKING DIE.

2. Hyo Sun, please die in a fire. OMG THAT IS BEYOND PETTY AND EVIL - Ki Hoon has to go away (not sure why, something to do with his evil family) and he doesn't have a chance to see Eun Jo so he gives Hyo Sun a letter to give to Eun Jo AND THE FRELLING BITCH READS IT INSTEAD AND DOES NOT GIVE IT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!! DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE. Poor Eun Jo runs to the train station looking for him but misses him and yes, of course, for her it's another in a series of abandonments and betrayals - she dared to open her heart at last and has been ditched without a word (so she thinks) yet again. Oh God, I HATE YOU HYO SUN HATE HATE HATE.

3. OTOH all the Eun Jo and Ki Hoon stuff in this ep sounds AMAZING.

Seriously - WTF? Who does that! Fine, read it or whatever, but it's a letter not a proposal of marriage - you won't die if EJ reads it. It's not as if she's in love with Ki Hoon (if she was, she wouldn't crush on the glasses boy), she is just jealous the world doesn't revolve around her any more.

I know! I'm squee-ing like hell! That whole letter makes me rage some more for not reaching her. Good for conflict, really, but OTP tops everything!

Well, one thing I'm glad about this episode is how it pretty much sealed the deal for EJ/KH, at least on KH's part. HS, whatever manipulation she may use, doesn't even have an iota of a chance. So the wavering of feelings will definitely come from EJ, as Jung-woo throws down the gauntlet for her love.

That's why HS hates EJ - EJ makes it so the world doesn't revolve around her. EJ doesn't do what HS says/wants. EJ doesn't like HS. People that used to give HS all of their attention now give EJ attention too/more attention. HS is a spoiled brat and cannot handle that, so she acts like a spoiled little b-word to EJ. HS can go DIAF. She was annoying as a teenager, now she's just awful.

How dare she not give EJ the letter? I'm not sure how long this time jump is (the full 8 years or less), but for her to hide something like that for 8 years and for her to apparently hate EJ for all those reasons for 8 years? *rolleyes* That's the 'tude of a spoiled brat. So, people like(d) EJ more than you and EJ doesn't like you? Get over it!

Yes. I can see why she wouldn't like EJ or be chummy but it's one thing to keep your distance and even be snide and another to do things like what she did with the letter - WTF?

I could forgive her easier if she was in love with KH herself but she isn't - she is just annoyed she is losing his attention.

And, you see, that's really what I'm so upset about: HS wasn't in love with KH. She may have unknowingly had a crush on him, but it wasn't love. And she knew that KH and EJ had a connection. She knew KH would want to see EJ and vice visa. She knew that the letter was for EJ and EJ alone. And yet. . .she kept them apart because she was upset with EJ. And she (apparently) didn't bother to tell EJ about the letter for eight years! You'd think her guilty consciousness would get the best of her.


You don't have to get along with your siblings, be they blood, half, or step, so I would have been totally fine with snide remarks for HS when she and EJ were alone. But, it really seems (from the small preview) that HS is cruel to EJ just because EJ took attention away from her.


I could forgive and be fine with snide remarks or HS being upset at losing her first love to EJ - but, that's not the case. HS just hates EJ for taking affection and attention away from her.


On a shallow note - I'm not loving EJ's new hair. Girl looked fierce with the long unkempt hair. It also helped her character - making her look more like a wild animal.

I guess I am in the minority but if I were HS I would have slapped EJ longtime ago. People tend to forget that it is thanks to HS that EJ and her mother are here and she met KH. KH and EJ have chemistry, alright ! But do you think it is good what EJ did to HS concerning her crush only because she wants to hurt her and she hates her since the begining ? Sorry but I have sometimes no sympathy for EJ because you see she acts superior to HS. HS does not care about it. She sincerely wanted to have a sisterly and a respectful bond with EJ but not only the latter rejected her violently but she tried to hurt HS on purpose. So just because of a letter and because you are a KH and EJ fangirl do you think EJ is better than HS ou even her mother ? I guess the latter is an hypocrite bitch but EJ acts like a bitch too especially towards HS because she obviously hates her ! HS had been patient and she has an open minded too - indeed in episode 2, when EJ refused to do what the teacher asked her, you can see that HS admires her-. HS is not so selfish to begin with ! What I don't understand the most and I make a big rant against most of CU's fans is when they bitched at HS because the latter simply wanted to make EJ at ease with her and she showed that she has already accepted her. Plus they sleep in the same bedroom, they are about the same age, they can learn from each other and this is what HS expected too with a sister. HS has her faults but she can learn things from EJ but EJ can learn from her either ! Frankly I would like to see you in HS's shoes. I think I would have act worse toward evil EJ -because EJ is evil.
And Please stop with the SW hatred. I am a MGY fan and I love her even more than SW but sorry the SW bashing" is getting old especially when she is in character and she acts very good too.

We're not bashing Seo Woo. I think she's rather fantastic in this character!
I do admit my love for KH/EJ, so I won't argue about how that colors my thinking process.

I think what's important to delineate, is that while we are going through the peaks and troughs of rooting for a character, our comments will come out much more different if the issue were the drama itself.

These are emotions and biases that everyone has, and your sympathies lie with HS, and that's cool. The discourse is a lot more fun with the difference in opinion, so I hope you don't get too upset when we go fangirling on EJ.

Anon, please calm down.

While I have no idea what people in other places are doing, neither I nor anyone on my friends-list is bashing Seo Woo the actress.

I happen to be a Seo Woo fan (click on Tamra tags to see the gushing) and before CU started I was worried I wouldn't be able to root for MGY's character because I like Seo Woo too much.

Now, Seo Woo is doing a great job with her character. It is her character that people dislike, not Seo Woo herself. There is a difference.

Re: HS. I liked her fine in the first 3 eps - it's the letter situation that is annoying. If you dislike each other, fine, do silly things to each other. But hiding a letter is a huge thing, quite a game-changer and different from petty childish rivalry.

I don't think EJ was right about the glasses boy, for example, but she has an excuse - she's been brought up in lunatic circumstances and is majorly damaged. HS has no such excuse.

Sorry but EJ has NO excuse by using HS's crush to hurt her. The only reason I see is she hates her - and she does since the begining when the girl did nothing wrong to her !- HS doesn't even know EJ's mom is not close to her daughter because not only EJ closed her heart to her, she never talks to her nicely slowlybut the mother acts nice in front of her so she assumes she is her real self ! Sorry but I think if you were HS reason or not you would have slapped EJ the first time she acts superior to you. HS is innocent, patient and thinks that everyone is nice. The good thing is EJ proved her the contrary.
And you may be a KH and EJ shipper and fangirl but EJ is not better than HS.

EJ didn't use HS's crush to hurt her, what are you smoking? She was trying to get the glasses boy to own up to receiving the texts so HS could have some sort of closure. Even if EJ's character being so cold to HS is wrong, we're given plenty of reasons why, and those reasons work. It's not hate, it's a defense mechanism.

At the moment, EJ is more mature than HS is.

And still people defend her... Lol finally must be good to be evil as far as you have a bad past and hurts the person nice to you and welcoming you because she acts different from you (annoying ?). Sorry but EJ wanted to hurt HS because she is jealous of her and hates her. I mean why trying to lie to your sister that "the flowers sent by the boy you have crush on are for me" on purpose. Why does she want to hurt her about it ? Even when it was the truth still EJ was digusted. She is so messed up. Sorry but don't try to defend her here. I think HS wants to spent time with her unni, her mother and her father nicely but it seems EJ does not want because she has rejected HS.

Far be it from me to claim EJ is a poor persecuted saint. She is a messed-up, lashing-out abuse victim. Would she be fun to hang out with at parties? Probably not. Is she a character I find fascinating and feel remarkably sorry for her? Yes, certainly. (I am not particularly interested or emotionally invested in Hyo Sun however).

Should she have been nicer to HS at the start? Well, yes, but it's not surprising she wasn't and in fact it's a symptom of her past abuse that she is not. I find it refreshing to have a heroine who isn't all sunshine no matter what happens - kdrama heroes are allowed to be bitter, even cruel, because they've had a tragic past. Only fair a heroine gets to do the same.

Also, the flower thing is so not equal to HS hiding the letter. It's clear to anyone who pays any attention to the matter that HS's crush on the glasses boy is ephemeral and she'd go on to crush on a new boy next week. Not to mention the boy isn't HS's - he doesn't like her. EJ isn't taking anything that would otherwise have been EJ's (even if she still shouldn't do it). It is also clear to anyone observant (though I suppose HS is anything but...) that Ki Hoon and Eun Jo have a MAJOR connection of some sort. Not to mention by hiding that letter HS does take away from EJ something that is hers - Ki Hoon likes EJ.

I reserve judgment - kids make mistakes. How she behaves now they are all adults and KH comes back - that will cement my feelings for them both.

Also, "evil" - surely a term to be reserved for baby-killers or abusers, not a sullen, occasionally obnoxious, teenager. So far I have yet to see an evil character in this drama.

Yeah it seems that someone did try to sexually abuse (BTW that is very broad term) her, but whether he was successful or not WAS LEFT OPEN TO OUR INTERPRETATION.
But seriously even if he wasn`t successful (in his rape attempt or whatever) – that doesn`t change the situation (EJ still suffered major trauma).

I suddenly got flashes of "the Notebook" where KH might have written all those letters and they never reached EJ. At the same time, it's the friggin' 21st century, so communication is not impossible at all, so Ki Hoon must have deliberately kept himself apart. It's not like EJ would have shunned his attempts at correspondence. He could have not been so busy that emailing her became impossible. And he's certainly not one to shy away from pursuing her, so yeah, I'm dying to know the reason too.
