Midweek ramble

dangermousie1. I am following 4 dramas this season. That's insane! Previously, the most I have done is 2.
2. Look what we get in today's ep of Cinderella Unni:
*sigh*
3. Personal Taste ep 2 was much better than ep 1. I have hopes for this drama. If only I liked the heroine a bit more. I do adore her best friend who is a total yaoi fangirl, going giddy at the thought of being able to listen in to two hot guys making out. LOLOL. And Lee Min Ho's face when he realizes heroine thinks he's gay. Aahahahahaha.

5. I am amused that of all M/T or W/R dramas, the one that has best ratings is Birth of the Rich which is the only one nobody I know is watching :P

I expect Dong Yi will be sweeping ratings as soon as they are out of the childhood backstory, though. Isn't "the birth of the rich" something to do with money? Isn't it like "War of money" without it's soul?

I actually enjoyed the first ep of BotR and plan to pick it up again once slate clears (apparently there were a few eps which were not so good but then it picked up again). It didn't really grab me though.

She mopes by the river, and he follows her. She gets injured; he brings her to the clinic. Lalala LOVE.
Later at night, the ex-bf of her mom makes an appearance, but seeing her so happy, he got so drunk outside the compound. EunJo tries to hide him, and Ki Hoon catches her in action and helps her bring him to their secret hiding place. Ki Hoon afterwards drives the drunken ex-bf to his house and stays overnight at his parents' house. (I didn't quite catch on the conversation, but essentially, it's revealed he has a different mother who's dead, btw)
And all this time, Eun Jo was waiting for him, worried. Finally, he decides to come home the next night. Eun Jo hazards to check outside the compound, and sees him there, brooding. We get an epic hug (well, okay, it was epic so far), and she cooks for him. But he's fallen asleep (as the scene above, though I didn't see that because the video was choppy), so the next morning, he realizes the food left in his room was made by Eun Jo, and eats happily.
In the Eun Jo-Hyo Sun front, we get to see Eun Jo really jealous because of the attention her mom showers on Hyo Sun, and uses Dong Soo, HS's crush for revenge. Only it backfires, because Dong Soo actually likes Eun Jo.
We get the catfight on tomorrow's episode.[/spoilers]

Not to mention the really icky things that come into it with the fact that (1) she's an abuse victim, (2) she's freaking 17 years old - much too old for that sort of thing, (3) he is an unrelated man caning a teenage girl - all levels of sleazy.

Date: 2010-04-07 09:04 pm (UTC)You can see this a few times in episodes 1 & 2 and I thought it was particularly telling when she was talking to Ki Hoon outside (when he sang the Spanish song) and she asked if he was trying to do something to her (I don't remember the exact translation).
I think that's why I love her so much. She's just so damn damaged and in denial and she's never really had love in her life. She needs someone to care for her and in return, she needs to know that she's capable of loving others also.

Ahhh, teen dramas and their emphasis on cold fish kissing (I will never forget the BOF bts with the director yelling at Lee Min Ho to close and stop moving his mouth in the kissing scenes). What, are they afraid the Korean youth will run out inspired by the bad example and make out all over the place?
I've found best kdrama kissing is in dramas with over 30s leads and/or action/revenge stories - I suppose since these are supposed to be definitely for grownups.

(in this drama the heroine acts so young, but based on the actress, she on her late 20s, early 30s, right? The guys are definitely over 30!)
