So, we finally see the repercussions of Helo's attachment to Sharon: people shun him as if he is a leper. By Helo's reaction, it doesn't look as if it's the first time, or Racetrack is the first person to do so. I love how he just avoids the confrontation (unlike Starbuck would) and goes somewhere else. And now that we know that he is shunned, his devotion to Sharon is even more impressive. He just doesn't waiver once he makes up his mind, does he? Everyone else can have Apollo and his marvelous build. Helo would make a much better boyfriend.
I've wanted the scene between Helo and Tyrol since forever. The Chief is clearly working out his issues in this ep. Afer all, he really did love Sharon, even if he loses track of the fact that this Sharon is not his Sharon, for a bit. You also see Helo a bit jealous. Awwwww. Also, I noticed that Boomer didn't answer whether she loved the Chief.
I also loved the scene where Sharon is brought to the CIC, and you can tell how much everyone is freaked out. Not because she is a Cylon, but because she is a Sharon. Also, hand, foot, and eck chains? Isn't it overkill? Yeah, Cylons are stronger than humans, but come on...Gaeta is a bit nice to her though. I like him anyway, but I liked him the best in this ep when he lost his temper. About time. You don't want to be Data, boy. Adama's reaction at the end though? Really, how on Earth can Sharon prove her loyalty? No matter what, she will always be shunned because of what she is...I really hope Helo is a miracle in the sack to compensate, because if I were her, I'd go back to Cylonland.
In non H/B news, I loved Apollo and Starbuck at the shooting range. They really are perfect as a team. And the sheer panic in Apollo's voice when he thinks he's lost her with the experimental ship. The look on his face. Awwwww.
I loved the whole building of the ship and naming it Laura. And the fact that they don't smash the bottle but drink it instead. Poor Laura: her reaction to Dr. Cottle's news was devastating (and you can see Cottle has grown to like her as well), but the first thing out of her mouth is: "Can I work?"
And I am definitely seeing Adama/Laura undertones this season. If she wasn't dying...
I am all for turning the Galactica into Loveboat. Not. :D

Date: 2005-09-18 05:43 pm (UTC)I don't think, after the near total anihilation of the human race by cylons and his own near-death experience, that Adama will ever trust a cylon. He eventually may become sympathetic to Sharon, but I don't ever see him outwardly showing it. Finding common ground may be the closest thing he can do to trusting a cylon.
Of course, I can envision RDM pulling in some type of "human rights" angle in the future. Helo can't be the only cylon sympathizer in the fleet. Already, Gaeta refers to her as Sharon. Eventually the humans will be torn by their own humanity over this "almost" human being and her suffering.
When Sharon has her baby, the cylon agenda will have a cute cherub face and a purported innocence. Adama will not be able to be mean to the baby and get away with it, simply because the human condition will make everyone sympathetic to the cylon baby. Should be interesting.
And there are 8 cylons still in the fleet. We've seen six models so far, and there are 12 models, right? So are the other seven (not counting D'Anna) other models or could there be other copies of previously seen cylons hidden in the fleet by cylon sympathizers?
