As you guys know, hit drama IRIS is scheduled to come back with the drama, Athena: Goddess of War.
Two main male cast Jung Woo Sung and Cha Seung Won have been already confirmed, which left many curious about who the female lead might be.
Recently, rumors about actress Ha Ji Won joining the cast have been floating around. But on the 19th, the drama’s production company Taewon Entertainment stated:
The rumors about Ha Ji Won being confirmed as the female lead is not true. Currently, her schedule for the movie Seven Remedies and Athena overlap, so she cannot join the cast. … A female lead will be confirmed in the upcoming 2-3 days.
Furthermore, Taewon Entertainment revealed about the “real” sequel of IRIS, stating:
Athena: Goddess of War, which has been called “IRIS 2,” is only a spin off drama. So technically, it isn’t the real sequel. … IRIS’s real sequel, IRIS 2, is scheduled to be produced and broadcast in the latter half of 2011.
On being asked about Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee returning in the real sequel, he stated, “Because it is a sequel, of course they will be cast for it.”
Athena is scheduled to broadcast in the latter half of 2010, while IRIS 2 will be broadcasted in the latter half of 2011, making it a trilogy of some sorts. Stay tuned to allkpop as the female lead will be confirmed in the upcoming 2-3 days!

That article was the only article I read that seemed definitive; the other articles seemed based on rumours and also, LBH and KTH have yet to comment on it. But considering the ending of IRIS (from what I know about it), I guess it would be a good thing if there was a sequel.
What I want to know is who the female lead of Athena will be?!!?! That's the deciding factor whether or not I'll watch it!

Btw, I've read in a blog about Korean news that The Influence part 1 (that online movie starring Lee Byung Hun) is out there somewhere... because somebody already found it and watched it without subs...
