1. Is Caprica worth watching? I loved the first 2 seasons of Battlestar Galactica but the third was deeply uneven and the forth lost me entirely - I wasn't even angry, I was just bored. It did give me Helo/Athena and Kara/Sam so I can't complain too much :P

Still, I want something scifi-ish.

Or should I watch V or Flash-Forward instead? The latter has a cool concept and the former has Inara the Reptile.

[Poll #1541691]

2. I have no shame but I plan to check out Dancing with the Stars tonight. I like dancing, and also the concept of Buzz Aldrin, Evan Lyzacek, and Kate Gossselin being on the same program is mind-boggling enough to be an irresistable draw.

And I also have pleasant memories of watching some earlier season while visiting my parents - it was a fun family bonding time.

Which channel/time is it on?

V was viciously misogynistic, at least the first episode. I had some real problems with it.

Yeah, that too. Because peace and medical advances are things to be afraid of! Be Afraid! Be VERY Afraid!

Oh yes, the aliens come to the Earth and their leader is an attractive well-spoken advocate for change (and universal healthcare) and the media worships her and welcomes her people with open arms, and only the sekrit underground gangs of nonbelievers know the REAL TRUTH. The most dangerous thing of all, they whisper to themselves, is worship. Blindly believing in the promises of a leader is DOOM FOR ALL OF HUMANKIND!

Gag.

I can only comment on FlashForward and V:

- FF is a waste of a good idea and cast. It takes something that should have you on the edge of your seat every episode and makes it mind-numbingly bland. I gave up on it.

- V is a little slow to get off the ground, but it kept me more engaged than FF did. I'm hoping it picks up the pace upon it's return.

Caprica has grown on me, but more for the storyline and world-building than because any of the characters are particularly compelling. In fact, I'm rather put off by pretty much all of them. Therefore, I'm not sure if you would like it. Though you might react differently to the characters.

V, I tried, but it just didn't do anything for me. So I can't recommend it.

I've yet to watch Flash Forward, though I'll probably give it a try sometime.

I actually quite like Stargate Universive, which took me totally by surprise as I've never found any of the other Stargate's watchable. You might give that one a try. It's got some some interesting characters and some neat twists to it.

I agree with cranberrysheep about Flash Forward.

I started watching because the premise intrigued me but they made it so completely boring that I checked out around the 5th episode.

Don't know about the other 2.

I actually really like Flash Forward. It had a couple of rough patches and sometimes it's a bit more cerebral-oriented than action-oriented, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Also, my perception could be biased right now because it came back this past week with a 2 hour episode that was, hands-down, better than anything they'd done yet, and it has me hopeful for where it's headed. I also liked V a lot. (Maybe my standards are low for TV shows this year?) It hasn't totally gotten its feet off the ground, but the potential is there.

Caprica I have yet to check out but it looks interesting.

I can't decide if I want to suffer through DWTS. xD

I really like Flashforward (though it's flawed) and V is loads of messy fun. Plus, Michael Trucco is going to show up as a SPOILER!!!!!!!!hot and presumed dead resistance leader.END SPOILER!!!

For more scifi, have you watched Fringe? It's pretty awesome.

Trucco is getting himself a very odd niche :)

I know nothing about Fringe, tbh.

Fringe is about this badass blonde FBI agent who gets sucked into crazy conspiracies when her partner/lover gets infected with this creepy evil disease. Also, she's awesome and extremely capable.

None of these have actually impressed me that much. I haven't watched any of Caprica, but V and FF are both okay, but not great.

I still like the original 80s version of V better, even if it's just for the nostalgia value.

FF had an interesting premise, but didn't ever deliver, IMO. It was just another minor mysterious conspiracy with mystical elements story (think Lost, Alias).

I stopped watching Flashforward after they let an unrepentant Nazi go like it was no big deal, but the main reason I dropped it was that I was just bored. It's an interesting premise, but the execution was pretty blah. I'm probably going to keep watching V whenever it comes back, but I don't know that it's good enough that I would recommend it yet. I haven't found any sci-fi show recently that I can really get into, except I guess Fringe.

There was a creepy Nazi in jail for doing really bad things that he didn't feel guilty for at all, and they made a deal to set him free if he gave them some information. The way it was presented made it seem like it wasn't a big deal, which really bothered me.

I don't watch any of them, but I know that I have a lot of friends who are into Caprica. They the two hour pilot/movie. That should tell you if you like it or not. (Also, if it helps, some of my friends have been discussing/recaping the show in a TV community that we have.)

In theory, I watch Fringe (or, as I like to call it, the Peter and Walter Show). I say "in theory" because I haven't actually watched an episode once this season. I clearly been watching too many shows with subtitles because I don't have time for anything else!

I enjoyed the 2 eps of V that I saw, despite the blatant proganda andthe makeup department trying to ron Morena Baccarin of all semblance of skin tone. I plan to watch more once the season is complete, as *like most US TV these days) it's not formatted in a way that works for me on an episodic nature.

FF sounded interesting, but most didn't seem impressed by it, and I tend to be pickier about SF TV than a lot of people, it seems.

Even if I liked BSG, I would loathe Caprica for the Apple=woman=MUST BE RESISTED OR MANKIND IS DOOMED promo poster.

Meanwhile, you might like Eureka. A bit quirkier than what you seem to go for, but an ongoing plotline underneath the episodic approach, appealing characters, lots of pretty people of both genders, a fun if slow moving OTP (and I'm fond of a secondary pairing that shows up in S2), and energetic without being over-the-top. It's on its third season, but the first two seasons are only 12-13 eps each.

I've heard a lot of good things about Fringe, and got the first season recently when Amazon had it for $17, but haven't watched it yet.

Caprica for the Apple=woman=MUST BE RESISTED OR MANKIND IS DOOMED promo poster.

LOL, every time I see that poster it just makes me hungry - my mind drifts to 'mmmmmmm, apples.'

(To be fair, they are just using a super-well-known symbolic shorthand which may be lazy but BSG TPTB are lazy. Arguably have woman issues too if BSG is any indication).

FF should've been so good but it's really slow and redundant and wastes a really great cast.

V I had high hopes for as well but I had to give up after 1 and a half episodes. It has amazing production values and some great actors but the writing isn't very good.

The only sci-fi show I watch now is Chuck. It's pretty entertaining but I don't know if that's what you're looking for.

You could try Sanctuary. I haven't watched it yet but people who do watch it seem to like it a lot. It's a bit like Buffy except the characters aren't teenagers.
