Now, being an ahjumma by Korean standards - 31, married mother - it is no surpise that most of my favorite Korean actors and actresses are over 30 and very few are under 27.

Still, I do like some younger ones and thus the poll was created.

Coolest thing about making this poll? People I thought were under-25 weren't (Im Ju Hwan is 28! Even Seo Hyo Rim is 25).

[Poll #1540260]

Gosh, I hate the word ajumma, it is like Russian tetka only worse. I clearly refuse to be getting old.

Better tyotka than tyolka :)

It's funny how ages are so different. Here, at 31, most of people my age I know are still not married, and definitely with no kids (I am the first of all my friends to have kids and very few of them are married).

We had some Russian friends visit (she is my age) and she had a 10-yr-old and when we'd be 'ooooh, we are young ladies blah blah blah' she wasn't buying it :) I think Korea is more like that.

Unless it's the equivalent of "ma'am" which I can deal with :)

Oh, I am long long time pass 31 :D, long long time. :D and yes here in the UK the ages don't matter so much- the girl I work with is 35 but she is only-only staring to think about having a kid.

I feel ajjuma is a bit of a derogatory term, but I can be wrong. I like "lady". :D And "ma'am" is good too. :D

Yeah, I think Ahjumma is derogatory, it's the equivalent of "auntie" in other asian languages, which is never a good word (unless it's really an aunt who is related to you, or an elderly lady you don't call by her name), cos it means a middle aged housewife (usually with permed hair) who dress gaudily (sometimes) and is somewhat "hick"?

I had a real problem here. I just discovered that no matter the actor, I'm not watching anything if the storie or the script doesn't compell me. Therefore I only answered Lee Min Oh here for the boys and no one for the girls. Which is weird. I might say "oh there is this idol here so I'll check maybe" but in the end, if I see that the story is not interesting at all or does not match my tastes, I wont :/.

That and the fact that I clearly prefer "older" actors and actresses. I won't say that it's because they are better. I'm really looking forward Lee Min Oh for example because he actually surprised me in a very good way... but I don't know. The rest of those names doesn't appeal yet. Maybe later ^^.

I had no idea Jang Nara was younger than 25. I guess when I was watching My Love Patzzi, the hideous outfits and scary hairstyles blinded me.

There are very few people that will completely force me to watch a drama. I voted for a couple of people, but now that I realize it, I would only vote for Song Joong Ki (who's doing a really good job in OB-GYN), Jang Geun Seok, Lee Seung Gi, and Seo Woo because they tend to pick really good dramas. I seriously only watch a drama if the plot's interesting. It takes too much effort for me to force myself to like it.

I checked and Jang Nara just turned 29. Unless I'm mixing something up... I knew she had to be older than me.

The last part of the poll wasn't for under 25s, it was for wooden beings of every age.

I hope "Ahjumma" is more more "Madam" than "Cougar" or "Old Lady." :D

I didn't vote for Jang Geun-seok just because I haven't seen any of his dramas, but I have a very good opinion of him. Ditto Jung Il-woo. Ditto Park Shin-hye.

I'm on the fence on Moon Geun-young: I think she's good, but I don't really get her on the charisma department. Han Hyo-joo is pleasant enough.

Woot! for your Wooden Hall of Shame. I actually like Ryu Shi-won. :) I saw "Wedding" with him and Jang Na-ra. While I like that drama in the passing-the-time kind of way, I really have to agree with you that you have them both here.

I enjoyed this, thanks! :)

That is what I'd prefer to think :)

Wow...I recognize so few names. And, conveniently, 2 I only recognize from their roles in the earlier part of sageuks (Jang Geon Suk plays Hwang Jin Yi's first love, and Lee Yeon Hee was Jung Hwa when she was younger. That was actually some brilliant casting, as you could almost not notice the change in actresses, it was so easy to see the transition.)

I totally didn't recognize Lee Yeon Hee is EotS. Wow.

I like the wooden actors poll. I went with Dambi, but really she's more a bad actress than wooden. With Dennis Oh and Daniel Henney (who is getting better) I think their issue is that they are in Korean dramas and speaking English. It comes off strange - if they can understand Korean, why aren't they speaking it and how do the other characters understand them? Anyway, I think that's their issue: they are non Korean speakers.

I'd say U-Know Yunho, Yoona, and Kim Hyun Joong are wooden. The rest are just bad actors/actresses or they just tend to over act at times.

Yeah, the English thing is extra weird. Dambi - I shuddered every time I saw her in Dream - even the extras outacted her.

I couldn't make it through Dream because of Dambi's acting. If she wanted to act, she should have started out on a weekday drama or weekend family drama as a smaller character, not in a prime time drama as the female lead.

Honestly (shallowness coming) I forgive Daniel Henney and Dennis Oh more than the others because they are attractive to me. . .Well, that and Daniel partly saved MNIKSS and wasn't terribly in SW. Dennis Oh. . .he's just cute.

What I thought was more surprising is that I stared at that entire list for ages before I could think of an actor/actress that I preferred over the rest, LOL. I guess most of the actors/actresses I like are 28+ :O

AND DENNIS OH = TREE. Definitely. Holy crap, I'd be hard pressed to name a drama MORE INSANELY AWFUL than Sweet Spy. Hyun Joong was so bad it was laughable, but he wasn't exactly a tree because he tried to twitch his face out of shape. It just didn't go the way he wanted, LOL.

Yeah, none of these are "OMG must see a draama because of them" really. I do like some of them though.
