Still Chuno Mania
Mar. 15th, 2010 11:26 amGot this really awesome Song Tae Ha/Kim Hye Won MV from soompi. Never in a million years did I think they'd become an OTP of mine, let alone an OTP I am so rabid over.
Also, thanks to inappropriatecrushes over at soompi, here are the rumors which are apparently flying around Korean boards about what's coming. Who knows how accurate they are and some contradict the other, but here they are:
1. Slave rebels will be annihilated. Those caught alive will be prosecuted -- along with the scholars captured earlier -- for treason on the state. “That Person” aka Legolas (so nicknamed by the netizens) is supposedly related to the gisaeng, and by default to Lee Gyeong-Sik as well. Cho-Bok dies in Ep 22.
2. Contradictory rumor suggests that “That Person” works for Prince Bongrim, in some kind of ploy to weaken Lee Gyeong-Sik’s gripping control of the royal court.
[Notes: After succeeding the throne, Prince Bongrim/King Hyojong was known to have executed a key political figure (Kim Ja-Jeom) right before the man's coup attempt. Ironically, it was this person and his powerful conservative Westerners faction (Seo-In) who crowned Hyojong’s father Injo as the King after overthrowing the previous ruler. Kim also happens to be the grand-father-in-law of Hyojong’s half sister.]
That said, as little sense as # 1 makes, it is imho probably more persuasive than # 2.

Pure speculation or dark truth?
The events of Ep 21 ~ 22, backed by no evidence at all but just ramping up out there:
HCU and his five “black hounds” attack the village. They miss TH and DG, but not GC and WS this time. True death finally comes to our homeboys. No word on JG, or the Qings' involvement. UN/HW, the little prince and SH are taken hostages. DG and TH learn of the tragic fate of the village and their loved ones, and transform into raging infernos.
===
CRAZY talk also making the rounds:
Lee Seon-Yeong’s illness (CP) is not real but merely an act put up because of her father Lee Gyoeng-Sik.
Now, that last one cannot possibly be true. That would be insane.
I can actually see the third one as likely - OMG, I would FREAK to see the guys unite and crazy to rescue the woman they love.
The first two - I dunno, less interested in slave quasi-rising but I hope the second is the one that's true.
Also, in the interview PD said he wanted this drama to have hope at the end in more obvious way than Conspiracy in the Court (where 2 mains are dead and 2 secondaries are alive, one with a main's baby) so hopefully it means one of the guys survives to be with Hye Won/Un Nyun/whatever she feels like calling herself that day. If I have been very good, it will be Tae Ha but I'll settle for Dae Gil.

Date: 2010-03-15 03:42 pm (UTC)The main thing for me is that Mr.Kwak himself confirmed that "So the truth is I’m going to convey the message of hope in plainer language" (in comparison with CitC) . I so so like this. Whatever crazy rumours are (there have been so many unconfirmed and unfulfilled rcently, I think fans ,make them up) I am sure mr.Kwak is trying to spell for us that THE ENDING WON'T be tragic. (please please please, Mr.Kwak , don't kill of TH)
Contradictory rumor suggests that “That Person” works for Prince Bongrim, in some kind of ploy to weaken Lee Gyeong-Sik’s gripping control of the royal court.
This one is truth, i think. I always thought this to be the case.

Date: 2010-03-15 03:48 pm (UTC)I thought so too. It always seemed a little too coincidental. Plus, which new ruler would want someone so powerful in his court? And that would also mean TH could make a deal with Bongrim even easier - if it will help Bongrim to put down Evil Minister, he'd be all for it.
Yes, when he talked about a message of hope that way, I felt reassured that it won't end with UN all alone pregnant (because then what's the diff from CitC except that it's the main girl who's alive, not a secondary one. And no, some voiceover about "SEE THIS CHILD IS HOOOOOPE" wouldn't count).
I do think it's more likely to be TH who survives because I can imagine him in an everyday life with UN a lot easier than I can DG but honestly, I'll be OK with DG too - he could sort of slowly mellow out and become more normal with stability and happiness. Who knows. But I bet they (whoever the they end up being :P) will end up on that land DG talked about.

Date: 2010-03-15 07:10 pm (UTC)deep down feelings say that TH is the one to die by the end. but it will leave me with bitter thoughts that good guys are the one who die. why would you want to live in such place that good guys did not taste their desrved happiness?
i am ok with DG kept alive too but still he is not the good guy in chuno. and his love for UN seems obsessively scary sometimes. plus i can't forget what he said to general choi (not sure if this is his right name spelling, still very new to world of kdrama and knames) as he said she can't live happily ever after after all what happened to me and my life. i always had trouble thinking of love between UN/DG as pure love after i heard these lines. maybe it was at first before everything but not now anymore.
TH love for UN seems to be the purest and most beautiful of all loves. to ignore his jealous side in himself and asks DG to take care of UN when he knows that he still have feelings for her and obviously she still does love him too, just for sake of her well being and protection is something not every man can do. i am pretty sure if DG was in his place, he would be asking TH such a favour.
i think i will cry for days if TH dies by the end.

Date: 2010-03-16 03:22 am (UTC)But still - TH is such an amazing person and DG is very not amazing - he's a messed-up, not nice victim of fate. I love the former so much more - he had to deal with so much suffering and emerged heroic, unlike DG.

Date: 2010-03-15 08:21 pm (UTC)Four more episodes left and it will finally end our misery over this most anticipated kdrama. For some reasons, I do have hope for TH and UN this time. Given the history that all the main guys that I liked ended up being killed in previous drama, I still have hope for this one. I do I do I do :)
Cheers to TH/HW's love for each other and may that love survived through it all.

Date: 2010-03-16 03:21 am (UTC)I hope SO HARD that TH and UN get a happy ending together. I can't help it - I love them together and individually so much. They are both so heroic (unlike poor messed up DG)

Date: 2010-03-16 02:55 am (UTC)I really do hope TH survives at the end although I am having a bad feeling about it... I've been just lurking in the Chuno forum and its absolutely crazy in there (in a good way) hehehe All the pervy talk and all lol
Initially, I was not going for either couple but as I watched further and further, I absolutely adored TH and HW.... I could not even 'see' DG/UN anymore.... And all the talk about OTP in the forum.. makes me think that perhaps it would be DG/UN surviving or dying together at the end.... :(
TH is definitely my favourite character in Chuno.... :D
