Teaser for Cinderella Unni is out and I am not too impressed. Sill, you never know...
I hope it will be good. Coming after Chuno, it's going to have big shoes to fill (and thus we enter a stretch until end of year with Athena - no dramas for me to really go insane over though I am sure there will be dramas I love).

Date: 2010-03-15 02:40 am (UTC)But it looks... so-so. It could pass. I am interested because the Cinderella looks like a cold, ice princess.

Date: 2010-03-15 02:54 am (UTC)I liked Pick the Stars but am fine with Oh My Lady replacing it but the thing it, I didn't obsess over Stars the same way (it's rare for me to have IRIS/Chuno combo - when I was madly obsessed with 2 dramas in a row like that and was obsessed from first filming announcement for both).
Cinderella Unni was fresher when it was Snow Queen' Love to Kill With Robbers' Beautiful Days.

Date: 2010-03-15 11:04 am (UTC)I'm determined to give it a chance, but I'm a bit confused on where they're going with this.

Date: 2010-03-15 09:45 pm (UTC)You've expressed it exactly.
One thing that niggles it about it is that they seem to have made Cinderella such a spoiled little girl. It's okay to reimagine the stepsister as a little bit more human than witchy, but I think I'm not liking how they're portraying the Cinderella.

Date: 2010-03-15 05:16 pm (UTC)Re: Cinderella Unni
Date: 2010-03-15 05:49 pm (UTC)No, you are correct - I was always a bit iffy on it. One factor is a Seo Woo v. MGY thing (I don't dislike MGY but I am indifferent to her and I do like Seo Woo more), but a much bigger one is that I am a fairy tale story traditionalist. Cinderella's sister is supposed to be wicked, lose the prince, and have her toes chopped off :P (I was never big into Wicked, Son of a Witch etc reimaginings of fairy tales).
OTOH:
1. I love melodrama. I tolerate the most ridiculous things in melodramas that normally I never would (have you seen Christmas? The whole 'let's pretend to be siblings and not lovers so your crazy mother I never met before is happy?' I mean, objectively that's insane but it gave me delicious emo melodrama and I ate it up and adored it). CU looks like it will be a melodrama, and that's a factor in its favor. Give me angsty angsty love...
2. The writer did Piano, Spring Day, and Robbers - all the dramas I love. So I am hopeful.
3. The Moon Geun Young issue - as I said, I am indifferent to her (I've only seen her in one thing and was not impressed so I get puzzled at the praise) but since I don't dislike her, I am all for her impressing me like she does everyone else.
4. I do get prejudiced against dramas I know little about - but I also do change my mind. I used to loathe Tamra on principle (and after watching first 15 minutes). Now I love it. Personal Taste went from 'yay' to 'ugh' to 'yay again' and it hasn't even aired yet.
5. I actually hope I will like CU - after Chuno is over, there is no heavy/melo drama out until Roand N1/Bad Guy etc and that's not till the end of May. I need my emo fix and hopefully CU will fit the bill.
OK, this is a long-winded way of saying that yes, you are correct, I am more prejudiced against it than I am about Prosecutor Princess or Oh My Lady (the fact that it replaces Chuno doesn't help as I rabidly fangirl Chuno). But there are also reasons I am eager too, and hopeful it will make me love it and its leading lady. If I truly gave up on it, I wouldn't follow its trailers or news at all (e.g. I know Harvest Villa is airing currently and I don't even know what ep it's on because I am not interested whatsoever. Ditto Merchant Kim Man Deok).
