Seeing that I was very obsessed with this tearjerker which can be summed up as: Rich Girl meets Poor Boy. They fall in love and get married. Terminal Illness Happens and Much Weeping Ensues.
I decided to do a summary in caps.
Homeless Guy and Hero. Hero meditates on nature of memory and soul. Homeless Guy just wants a smoke.

Flashback. Our Heroine looking dazed. Get used to this expression.

Artistic:

Emo about break-up with married boyfriend, she buys herself a coke to cheer up but forgets it.

When she returns, coke on the counter is gone and instead a scruffy guy is about to drink it. She grabs and drinks it herself. Seeing that we later find out hers was safely tucked elsewhere, guy must have clearly thought she was a lunatic. Thus his hooking up with her later and the angst that happens can't be blamed on anyone but him - he saw what a weirdo she was.

New hair! Maybe that will lead to a new man! Or just a cool montage!

She drives with her father to a construction zone (her father is some bigwig) and guess who she sees - "Mr Coke Deprived".

Pretty!

Guess which construction worker/carpenter Daddy sends to fix something in her office. Guess!

Revenge. Is sweet. And high in fructose corn syrup.

She is a little less fussed about the coke and a little more fussed about his neck.

Can you sense the incipient slumming? I can!

She is walking home and he comes up to her to talk. She is kinda flustered and makes excuses - she needs to catch a cab or a bus or a flying saucer blah blah.

But woe! Some motorcycle hoodlum takes her purse!

Phlegmatic savior:

He helps her gather up her stuff - a million pencils included. He: "Do you sell them on the subway or something?" She: "I am forgetful, ignore the big dramatic foreshadowing please."

Cute:

He fixes the purse, putting the 'handy' in handyman.

And then she rides with him in his car which now has no windows courtesy of his robber-stopping act.

Hence the eye-gear. LOL. That was surreal.

Miss Flirty is all excited in the morning.

Only to find out he's not coming.

Never fear, she is going to stalk a construction worker in his den. She even brought a posse!

"Fancy seeing you here, Lowerclass Person of my Dreams!"

Bwa!

He tells her if she drinks this shot, they are going to date. They are so in grade school. (Also, the sexual chemistry is insane - I keep expecting them to run off in the middle of any and every scene to make out).

Happy Dating!

I love this scene!

Mmmm.

To be continued - now with 500% more angst.

Date: 2010-03-10 10:35 pm (UTC)Yay re: you watching it! They are so ridiculously adorable as a couple it's kinda insane (and both are a bit odd). Also, while her family is totally lovely and way more reasonable than Nao's family in Tattakoi, his mother makes up for it.

Date: 2010-03-11 11:45 am (UTC)Soooo NO! You're not luring me to rewatch this again! NOOOOOO!
I really can't rewatch this again. It's super unhealthy for me. I swear every time I watch/rewatch this movie I get depressed for weeks! I fall apart! It sticks to my mind. I keep thinking what happens to them after the ending. It occupies my mind. I wallow over the melancholy!
And JWS here is just LOVE! He's like my dream husband after I watched this. No one can ever measure up to him. And SYJ is nothing short of fantastic. She gained a new fan in meafter I watched this. Arghhhh I'm building up a strong case for another rewatch! NOOOO I can't I'll die from depression!
*curls up in a corner and tries to restrain self*

Date: 2010-03-11 03:41 pm (UTC)I don't even get whether she remembered him at the end or not but does it matter? She's going to forget in minutes anyway. :( Almost better off if she died.
