I tried, I tried so hard with A Man Called God. Normally I'd run like the plague from this after the promos, but I adore Song Il Gook beyond measure.

WELL.

I can deal with the shounen manga-induced cheesiness. But I cannot watch Song Il Gook - his face is cavernous - I get images of famine victims when I see his sunken cheeks, skin stretched over bones of the face. He looks starving, unhealthy, awful.

Yes, the hair has escaped from the 1980s, the short pants and purple socks are horrible. But whatever. It's not the first or last time dramas have awful fashions and hair. But it's the face, the face that kills me.

Why?

He looked fine and healthy and fit and hot before. I have never seen a single comment criticizing his looks in Jumong, Lobbyist, or Kingdom of the Winds. Why on earth did they make him lose so much weight so now he looks like a skeleton that still moves? He is playing a mob boss, not a victim of starvation. It doesn't look good, it doesn't look acceptable, it doesn't look anything but horrific.

And why on earth did he agree to their insanity? He isn't some young wannabe just starting out, desperate for any break and willing to do anything to get it? He's an A-list star in his mid-30s with clout and one of the biggest drama hits ever to his name.

Whyyyyyy?

All I know is they lost this viewer. I have tried watching everything SIG was in, but I cannot do this one.

I hope this drama gets good rating so at least he wouldn't have starved himself for nothing, but I am out.

OT: A MOMENT TO REMEMBER is the only film that made me BAWLLLL like a baby. and I mean, BAWL. So til this day I ship SYJ and JWS.

This killed most of the few remaining bits of interest I still had in A Man Called God. Loved the title and the casting but the promo pics looked so dreadfully cheesy, recaps said it was cheesy and MOST of all, SIG's skinniness freaked me out - I keep thinking it can't possibly be as bad as in the promo pics and yet apparently it is. I have a soft spot to an extent for Han Chae-Young and would love to see her with SIG, but...I think this is just too much to bear.

Jang Hyuk is a walking proof that you can be really fit and cut and not look like a famine victim.

I didn't even bother try, despite my SIG crush of epic proportions. Did you see those b&w pics that were released before the posters? I think Dramabeans posted them. I never thought SIG would look like something from a nightmare... but there you go.

By the way, I hope you don't mind if I add you! Finding someone that's as into and updated in kdramas just makes me squee.

you got great body but it seems you are also haggard looking in most of the promo photos that were shown! i love the little chubbiness of jumong & muhyul better! the long hair suits you fine in those period dramas ,but i guess you have to evolve out of the period drama too! i just hope this series still has the song il gook qualities i ve come to admire ( gentleman yet fierce/very helpful & but deceptive at times/ patient yet so bold in actions/swift to move but with self control/most of all this attitude that shows respect for women!)i hope this one is better than the lobbyist!
song il gook i wish you will do more of the historical series drama that shows how korea shapes it course in the history! may this series be a success for all the efforts you've put through to scuplt that body! pls dont show more than those! keep the shirt on i like the respectable image of Song!
