Thank you so freaking much, Daisy.
Now I am sitting here bawling.

I have wanted to check out Daisy, a 2006 movie with Jeon Ji Hyun, Jung Woo Sung, and Lee Sung Jae, after I had found out that Jung Woo Sung has been cast in Athena.
Firstly, because people kept mentioning it all over the place, but secondly because I knew JWS played an assassin insanely devoted to his OTP in it and I wanted to see how he'd be like in an IRIS-type environment.

WELL.
WELL.
I thought I told you, TPTB, not to cast as a lead someone who can make me bawl as much Lee Byung Hun did. I thought we had a deal?

Not fair, I foresee bawling all over again if they go for IRIS-levels of angst with JWS in the lead.
Anyway, Daisy is made by the man who made Infernal Affairs so you can expect the same levels of cheeriness. The story centers around a sheltered painter who lives in Amsterdam (Jeon Ji Hyun). Every day at the same time she recieves a present of daisies from a secret admirer. Little does she know that the admirer is a mob hitman in hiding (Jung Woo Sung) who has fallen in love seeing her paint. Enter an Interpol agent (Lee Sung Jae) on the trail of the hitman, and whom the heroine mistakes for her admirer...

The movie is gorgeously shot, well-acted, super-romantic and made me freaking bawl my head off. I loved it to bits. I was also happy to see that JWS looks perfect angsting, with a gun, full of revenge, madly in love, or with the love of his life pointing a gun at him. He is going to do just fine :P

Now I want to track down the longer Hong Kong cut (the one I had was the international one).
It was so good!
Is it unhealthy to be obsessed with a drama 10 months before it airs? If it is, I don't care at all.
ETA: Have a shippy IRIS mv. I think it's official - Hyun Joon and Seung Hee are my biggest ever drama OTP. I thought my obsession would them would cool but it's been over 2 months since the drama was over and nope - am still fixated.

Date: 2010-03-05 04:32 pm (UTC)I loved this to bits. My favorite scene was when she ran looking for him (after she found his note) and was holding up her painting and yelling all these things - how she loves him and is sorry but we were seeing it from his POV, and as he was on the roof with a gun he couldn't hear her and neither could we. But he was reading her lips so all these things she was saying we were actually hearing in his voice. For some reason that really REALLY got me.
Now I need to find some movie where the guy doesn't die :)

Date: 2010-03-06 04:24 pm (UTC)Good luck! ;p He tends to do these angsty films where someone always seems to die. I can't recall how it was with The Restless... probably died as it's a fantasy historical, ha.

I am so unhealthily attached to that drama, it's insane.

Date: 2010-03-05 04:49 pm (UTC)(1) KTH was going to be horrible and I'd hate her character. WRONG! She's kind of cool and awesome and yeah!
(2) Just about spies? Eh, can't be as awesome as people say. WRONG! Totally awesome and now I find out the LBH has SECRETS from his childhood that involve his parents AND OMG all these hints that he's gonna be a monster and WOW.
I kind of like it when I'm proven wrong.
I can't wait until KSY comes into the picture. I think that I simplified IRIS too much; like I thought it was just gonna be another spy/action drama but I forgot about all the other characters (like the guy from Neighbor! I didn't know he was in this!) and other stuff that's keeping me on my toes.

Date: 2010-03-05 04:54 pm (UTC)2. It has all sorts of fascinating background and conspiracy stuff.
KSY is beyond awesome btw. I never shipped her with LBH (except in some sort of an AU where KTH's character was dead when they met) but I adored her as a character and their interactions.
I also really really loved what they did with LBH and his descent - and how hard he was pushed into becoming a monster and whether he really became one or not.
Ep 3 is the one which had the scene too hot for Korean TV :P

Date: 2010-03-05 05:11 pm (UTC)SEE I DON'T GET IT! I don't know how I'm not gonna ship them because everyone says she's so awesome and I usually ship the awesome people together. Especially if it goes down the way I think it goes down (doesn't he get betrayed by his agency and then he works together with KSY? WAIT, don't tell me!).

And DAMMIT I can't watch it until next week. :(
