Stupid Comment of the Day Award goes to
Mar. 3rd, 2010 11:19 amA commenter on an article about a recently discovered tomb of an Old Kingdom Queen:
I do not understand why Egypt has allowed people to break in and remove items out of these tombs. This country must respect the beliefs of these dead people and leave them alone as they should be. I am appalled at these grave-robbers that do this kind of stuff and call themselves archaeologists. Graves should be left alone and never looted. Mummies should not be touched and statues should be left alone. These kind of acts in the name of science are just stabs at the history of Egypt. Egypt should stop these kind of people from selling their ancestors out for profits and good silver or gold. These people who end up taking from a tomb those jewels, vases, statues, golden items, or any of the old relics should be tried for their crimes. Egypt needs to stop these kind of digs for the namesake of those who have died before them in tradition and show some respect. That is just the truth as I see it am not here to put down anyone, simply here to say that bad things happen to those who expose the dead. If you do not believe that then mark my words, you'll see.
Why, hello there, crazy!

Date: 2010-03-03 05:21 pm (UTC)Where did you 'dig up' (pun intended) this rare gem? If everyone had this kind of mindset, how would we even know who the ancient Egyptians were? If not for archaeological research, we would know very little about man's past at all. No offense to Egyptians, but this sounds like a disgruntled Egyptian to me. Or, maybe this commenter merely wants to keep all of the ancient Egyptian treasures for themselves. "Hands off my stash" and that sort of thing. This one is a real 'head-scratcher' all right. Kudos, my friend, on this astonishing 'find'. Regards, Anna
