That is completely up to you, since it's your LJ. Have you been getting lots of spam/unpleasant comments/random trolls? Going friends-only might help with the trolls/spam/random hateful comments, but whatever makes you comfortable.

Selfishly, because, I'm not a friend.

Depends on how much trouble it is. If you can do it in one click, go for it! *is a fan of keeping things private*

It should be a one or two click thing. i think you can just change your settings so that "friends only" is your default.

I think that's only if you're paid, though...

Possibly. I doubt, though, that a permanent account wouldn't have a feature that a paid account does.

I say yes, because I think if you've gotten to the point where you're asking, you probably already want to do it anyway. Course it's up to you, and depends on whether you feel it's the right choice.

I agree.

However, I get the feeling that you like writing for your readers, and you do have so many of them!
But if you feel that your privacy is being compromised or you're being disrespected, then you do what you have to do.

The sad, livejournal-less anonyomouse votes no! But it is of course up to you.

I would miss being able to link your picspams, but it's a small price to pay for your peace of mind, IMO.

I'm with [livejournal.com profile] uisceros, as soon as you start seriously wondering about it, eventually that's the way you're gonna go. At least that was my trajectory. Haha.

I have mine FO save for picspams and fanmixes. And random things like famous people's deaths I often leave unlocked. I started doing it when I had some trouble with RL friends. They really weren't giving me trouble as such as other closer friends of mine. And one of them was a hacker type and petty so I feared possible retribution. I do think he hacked my old myspace account.

I just kept it that way because my flist has gotten pretty big and I don't just want to add anyone back these days. If someone has things in common with me, fine. But I read every journal entry(for the most part, I confess I sometimes skip through some of your drama posts as I don't watch them but I do read the ones where you talk about the stories and look at the pics and stuff)and I want to be interested in what I read!

Also, I didn't vote as it is completely your decision! Is there a specific reason why you are thinking of making it FO?

I ended up defaulting my posts to friends-only and have to go through and edit to make them public. But I wouldn't have been able to read your picspams without being a friend if it was friend-only! and you got me into dramas, even if I don't watch them so much. (I read someone's challenge to finish off dramas and I'm a little inspired.)

As long as you don't un-friend me, I'm okay with it, but I think it would be a shame to deprive the world at large of your awesome picspams :)

(I don't know what your concerns are, though, so I support you either way.)

It's entirely up to you dear. I'm just curious as to what got you into thinking of having your LJ friends-only.

Anyway...as long as you don't (un)friend me...hehehe!

I vote no because the journal being open to all was how I found you.

But I guess, if you've been thinking about it, it means you've cause to believe that you want it filtered. Whatever you decide is entirely up to you, of course. :)

I'll second hazelnut_thurs and some of the others - we found you from your journal being open (and just think of how many people you've steered towards doramas, and might still in the future!). Buuuut you've undoubtedly got good reasons to be considering friends-only, so I say go for it if that's what feels right to you.

if you want to then yuo should but I wouldnt have seen your awesome posts and then eventually got the courage to friend you if you'd been FO all along. I suspect there are others out there who enjoy your posts but might be shy or busy to comment and ask to be friends. but that's just my two cents. I do the the FO thing, the semi FO thing and the public thing with my lj and really public is best if you dont really write much about your personal life. which I dont, and you do occaisonally but then you could just make those posts FO instead of the whole lj. just my two cents :)

Hi,

I'm someone who often checks out your drama posts but has never got round to commenting or asking to be friended (I don't really post any fandom stuff in my own journal so doubt you would be interested in mutual friending)and do enjoy your posts and picspams. I imagine a lot of people are in a similar position to me and do genuinely appreciate the time you spend reviewing and pic spamming dramas and movies. However, your livejournal is supposed to be something you enjoy, so if you're happier with making it FO, then you should.

I guess it's up to you. There are people on my f-list who had to go FO or even change their moniker. Because of stalkers etc.

Mine started out as mostly an icon depository so it's always been semi open. I only lock the rl stuff, which I don't post all that often anyway. But then, I don't have a big 'readership' as it is. :)

dangermousie,
I would be saddened if you made your LJ 'friends only'. I have your site linked to my 'American Bae Fan' site; that's how much I enjoy coming here. Still, though we are not friends, I admire and respect your intelligence enough to support you regardless of your decision. Regards, Anna

It's of course totally up to you, so I won't vote on the poll.

I'll say that mine is locked for 80-90% of the posts because of many reasons..

a) I post quite a lot of RL stuff I don't want non-friends to see.

b) I have rl friends on my flist who I occasionally don't want knowing something about me so I flock to filter those posts from rl friends.

c) I also filter Bollywood/Asian fandom stuff from people especially if it's super-embarrassing or whatever for the benefit of people who aren't into that stuff.

You have a big readership in people who want to hear your views on dramas but don't necessarily have you friended or even have LJ, I've noticed - even I've referred to your LJ for some people who want to explore Asian dramas more than I know how to lead them and I've been like "Read dangermousie, she blogs a lot about it, with great picspams."

But if you're getting trolls or nasty commenters who just comment to disagree with you vehemently or something stupid and annoying like that, which is making you consider flocking, I can totally understand.

I put "No" because this is my personal opinion - I would never make my LJ friends-only because it defies the object of blogging IMHO .The day I want to fully friend-lock my LJ (I use a system of filters even now) because I feel uncomfortable with someone reading it - I will close it and do Google-chat with my friends instead , but I think the decision is entirely yours.

If you feel you are getting too much spam or threats or something - your safety is more important. There are other ways you can go too: lock anything to do with even a thread of personal info in this lj and make it fandom-blog-only and open another, more personal journal (however, this can be time-consuming).

I would be soooo disappointed!
Your's the only blog I read regularly (with Once Upon a Twisted Fairy Tale).... and it seems all the blogs I find interesting stop or get "friends-only" sooner or latter!

Life is sooo unfair!
