Ragey thought on ep 15 of Chuno
Feb. 24th, 2010 10:17 amI have read spoilers for ep 15 and honestly, I am finally 100% off the Dae Gil/Un Nyun ship after this (it's funny, I started rabid DG/UN and then gradually shifted more and more toward Tae Ha/UN).
Because.
WHAT THE FRELL.
How DARE he threaten Un Nyun? How dare he? How dare he tell her that slaves have no rights to ask questions and mock her and stick a weapon in her face and be a fucking bastard. GET OVER YOUR EMO, FREAK! The only thing UN is guilty of is bad taste in loving you back way when - look what wonders it got her - getting beaten and almost killed while you did nothing. Ooooooh goody, she didn't spend the rest of her life fixated on her dead useless boyfriend (no, she only mourned you for 10 freaking years, 10 more years than you deserve!). Horrors! She dared to fall in love and get married to someone. Someone who is 100x the better man than you'll ever be. YOU CAUSED HER BROTHER TO DIE, YOU ARE CHASING HER HUSBAND IN ORDER TO ENSLAVE/KILL HIM, WHAT THE HELL RIGHT DO YOU EVEN HAVE TO TALK TO HER? Even if it was true that her husband killed your buddies (which it is not and you would know if you used half a braincell), what the hell does it have to do with her and how is it her fault?
UGH I HATE HIM. I HOPE SOMEBODY STABS HIM IN THE FACE.
Nobody messes with my Un Nyun and lives.
I think we can tell where my priorities lie now :)
Also, if the speculation that I read on soompi (that DG will capture Tae Ha and bring him back) is correct, I hate him even more. Because Tae Ha = most amazing drama character I have ever come across and I love him with the power of 10,000 suns (take note, DG please. This man survived way more horror than you ever did and guess what - he kept his humanity intact). Nobody is allowed to mess with my rebel slave general either.
Ugh.
Seriously. Dae Gil, go die in a ditch!
I am not posting this rant on soompi, that's for sure - they'll think I went insane :)

Date: 2010-02-24 04:30 pm (UTC)I think I might be insane because I still haven't given up on DG yet. I might, but I'm not there yet. Sappy girl that I am, I got all teary-eyed when I saw that the spear he was holding to UN's neck was actually trembling. I've NEVER seen DG tremble like that when he held a knife to someone's throat.
The way I interpret this episode is thus: With the death of Choi and Wangson, DG feels that he has to give up on UN for good. He probably feels that owes them his entire focus after they followed him in his selfish quest for UN and got killed for it. Technically, DG was after TH but, as we saw at the end of Ep 11, it was UN he was thinking of when he was running. I don't think he is ready to let UN go though. He's just acting like he has.
I saw the episode live and am waiting for the entire dialogue to be translated but DG didn't appear quite sane or even sincere when he said those hurtful words. And I think UN knows this. Her face was sad. It almost looked like she was suffering for him. She doesn't know what's going on but it hurts her to see her young master that way.
I don't know, we'll have to see.
I'm just happy that they actually got to interact at last. The angst! And it looks like TH won't be so happy to come face to face with the man UN has loved all these years if what I read about the preview for Ep 16 is true. TH is slow to anger so he must really be deeply in love for him to display that kind of reaction.
One thing I'm pretty sure of though: UN will stay with TH. She gave her word and will be loyal. TH is an honorable man she admires. And I can't see her with DG, even if TH dies and even if I think she still loves DG. I'm getting worried about her actually. I think she might die. I can't see her living except as a widow taking care of the young prince.

Date: 2010-02-24 04:39 pm (UTC)Oh, DG is an amazing character - dark and complex and tortured and very very layered. Not to mention I have to give huge kudos to TPTB for allowing such a dark antihero be the protagonist. But much as I enjoy his tortured angst, I really don't want him with UN any more, for one, because he is such a mess I wouldn't wish him on anyone. But also - yes, I understand why he is the way he is, and I agree he still loves her - but all of it just explains, it doesn't excuse - and he should not act like that with her. I am going to enjoy watching the misery though.
My preferred ending is for TH and UN live somewhere far away and remote in peace. It's as likely as pigs flying, but I hope..

Date: 2010-02-24 04:46 pm (UTC)Yes, I agree. For my part, it's not that I want him to end up with UN exactly. It's not the way I ship them. It's just that I want him to love her truly, madly, deeply to the end. That would be so very tragic and twisted and sad.
I'll be very disappointed if he ends up turning to SW in the remaining episodes. The way his character has been set up, I really want UN to remain his one true love. The woman he loved madly to the point of obssession but that could never be his.
Ah, the angst...whatever happens, we can be sure the angst will keep coming!

Well, actually the writers so far have surprised us countless times. A truly surprising ending for Chuno would actually be a happy ending, so who knows....No one at this point believes in a HEA, so there might be a very slim chance.

Oh yes, that is exactly what I want, too.

Date: 2010-02-24 04:57 pm (UTC)Re-DG/UN. I actually don't need two people to be together to be a happy viewer. As long as the deep and intense feelings are there, a tragic ending for the doomed lovers can be even more powerful than a love fulfilled.
There's something so powerful about a man so devoted to one single woman. If those feelings don't last till the end of the drama, I'll be very disappointed regardless of the way the drama ends. I'm emotionally invested in DG's descent to hell and I want him to take his passion for UN with him as he falls.
Ah, DG, you might just be my favorite K-Drama character, you poor twisted soul.

Date: 2010-02-24 05:34 pm (UTC)It's been 10 years, they're completely different people now. I'm so so happy UN stopped standing still and chose to moved forward. She's done nothing wrong! She deserves to be happy, damn it.
I seriously believe DG's been slowly losing his mind during all these years and in Episode 10 officially became a citizen of Crazy Town. His mind has snapped and there's no going back.
UN's brother couldn't have been more right when he said "If you love her, let her go". But I guess when you've been obsessing for 10 years, it's not that easy. Searching for her became his reason for living, the only light in a world full of darkness. Now that the search is over and she's happy and he has to let her go...he can't do it. What will he live for now?
Either way, if he somehow harms or, god forbid, causes TH's death I WILL CUT A BITCH!. Hell to the no! You hear me, writers?!
You know, both men lost everyone and everything they ever held dear. But the way they reacted to that loss was completely different. TH remained kind, loyal, honorable, and is now risking his life for a good cause. I know life's not fair but this man does not deserve to suffer any more, much less to die just when he found love again.

Exactly. That is what sticks with me. Yes, both men had a horrible thing(s) happen in the past (and I'd argue what happened to TH was much more awful) but TH kept all his humanity intact and DG just fell to pieces.

Date: 2010-02-24 07:15 pm (UTC)But also - how hot angry Th was after DG cut his hair! And how awesome with the haircut like that (thank you, DG!)! I am loving all this so much I can't even express. This is the first drama after "Mawang" where I like both guys with equal love (I hope it won't end as Mawang!!!!!)
BTW, in serios - I believe TH will die first, but this won't happen too soon. In the last episode, may be.

Date: 2010-02-24 07:22 pm (UTC)I love Tae Ha so much, it's ridiculous. I think he may be my favorite kdrama character ever.
I don't think TH will die first but you never know.
ETA: he didn't mean a word of what he was saying but was just saying it to hurt!!
Yeah, but it doesn't make it right. If I were UN, this would be the last straw and I'd tell him to die in a ditch.

Date: 2010-02-24 09:05 pm (UTC)Even if TH dies, I am 100% sure UN is going to have TH's baby. YAY! For good gene material!
Also - this drama will still mean many good roles for Oh Ji Ho. :D
Yeah, but it doesn't make it right. If I were UN, this would be the last straw and I'd tell him to die in a ditch.
I am sure he will pay with the tears of BLOOD and I will enjoy every minute of it.
