I admit to being morbidly curious as to how Secondary Hag pictures her married life with a man she had to blackmail into marriage and who loathes the sight of her and won't ever be pleasant enough to even say good morning without constant threats.
Because I picture it thusly:
Morning. Kang Ha is eating porridge for breakfast. And chasing it with shots of whiskey.
Hag: Honey, I made some toast for you, have some!
Kang Ha: ...
Hag: I could be so dialing your brother right now!
Kang Ha grits teeth, stuffs toast into his mouth.
Afternoon. Kang Ha is doing something on the computer. A trusty bottle of cognac is by his side.
Hag: Honey, come watch A Story Sadder Than Sadness with me!
Kang Ha: ...
Hag: I wonder what your brother would say if he knew the truth...
Kang Ha grits teeth, comes over.
Evening. Kang Ha is listening to music. He is also knocking back brandy.
Hag: Honey, don't I look sexy in my new nightgown? Come here - I even put some candles in the bedroom!
Kang Ha: ...
Hag: Your brother. Speed dial.
Kang Ha grits teeth, comes over.
Night. In bed. Kang Ha is trying to reach for that bottle of soju on the night table.
Hag: Honey, those green bed sheets are tacky. I want blue ones. Go get them out of the closet.
Kang Ha: ...
Hag: Honestly. Remember? Brother?
Kang Ha snaps and throws her out of the window of their fancy penthouse. We hear a distant thud.
Because seriously - is it going to go any other way?

Date: 2010-02-24 04:33 pm (UTC)This Secondary Girl is even crazier than most because at least in other cases they have a past relationship or friendship so there is hope that maybe once the other person cools down they can build on that (or like in Bali just want the marriage as a status thing so feelings are irrelevant).
But here she's been stalking him for a decade and the most she's got is cold politeness (and usually it was comments more along the lines of 'not even if you were the last woman on earth') - he is no friend of hers and has never been and dislikes her. Not to mention the guy is brusque and blunt to a fault so he won't even try to be nice to keep the peace. And forget seducing him into compliance - not only is he a control freak who dislikes being touched, she's tried it and he acted like her was beyond repulsed.
Basically - some marriage she is going to have.

Date: 2010-02-24 02:01 am (UTC)But then I remember that KH had a really messed-up upbringing which screwed him up really badly, so what is natural and intuitive to a normal person is not at all so to him - he probably things JH won't love him at all if he knows the truth, and when you combine it with his ever-present belief that he doesn't deserve anything good ever, it's pretty easy to see why he's giving in to the hag.
Still - why would she want a man who earlier told her he won't like her even if they were the only two people left alive is beyond me.

Date: 2010-02-24 11:17 am (UTC)I've been downloading the episodes and the subs so that I can watch it all in a big marathon when the drama is over. No more "Arrrgh, why do I have to wait ONE week to know what happens after that evil cliffhanger!" for me. Chuno is already putting me thourgh the wringer that way so I'm preserving my sanity. lol
On a totally unrelated note, I see that you're back to posting more often so that must mean you're back from HK. So here are the subs for Tamra Ep 16 as promised :o)

Date: 2010-02-24 04:30 pm (UTC)And Pick the Stars really is wonderful. I might love it more than Chuno which is a huge huge deal (you kinda have to fight through first couple of eps IMO but then it gets amazing).

Date: 2010-02-24 04:40 pm (UTC)I tried watching the first episode of Pick The Stars back when it started airing but couldn't get past the cringe-worthy scene of Pal-Gang protecting Kang-Ha from the angry mob. I think I might start at Eps 3 or 4, when it gets awesome :o)

Date: 2010-02-24 04:44 pm (UTC)I can't help but be amused, btw, that Stars is supposed to be a breezy comedy but it has horrible deaths of heroine's parents, heroine and her little siblings almost freezing/starving to death, heroine seriously considering selling herself as means of making ends meet, and oh yeah, hero having a seriously abused past. Ahhhh, Korea.

Something more to motivate you to watch (or at least it motivates me :P)

Date: 2010-02-24 05:02 pm (UTC)*must not watch before it ends* *must not* *must not...*
I haven't watched Shining Inheritance but it looks suitably angsty. Would you recommend it?
Re-comedy...what about Hong Gil Dong which started almost as a parody and which ended in blood and tears for everyone, including the viewer? I still haven't recovered!

Date: 2010-02-24 05:11 pm (UTC)I started it because everyone on my flist was going 'ugh I hate the Hero, can he die die die die' to 'OMG hero is super-awesome and adorable' and I was curious. I still think it was one of the best character gradual change arcs I've seen.
HGD - I adore that drama but My God!

I might have to check up SI then. I'll wait until I'm in the mood for a Jerk!Hero though. My tolerance for them are pretty low except when they're so delightfully over the top like in the extremely campy Boys Before Flowers/ Hana Yori Dango.
