Pick the Stars - I am in love!
Feb. 1st, 2010 10:47 pmUmmm, you know how I said I don't have a ship for Pick the Stars.
Well, I lied.
I have watched ep 9 and OMGOMGOMGOMG I want Pal Kang and Kang Ha to make out now. SQUEE PLS.
Pal Kang continues to be her ridiculously awesome, pragmatic, upbeat self. You'd have to be insane not to love her. Kang Ha = LOVE. Which is hilarious, considering how I loathed him at the start. But now that he's allowed himself to express human emotions, his gruffness totally hides the ultimate softy and combined with his totally un-kdrama-hero-like tendency to speak exactly what he thinks and not tolerate any B.S. or need to make nicey-nice? EEE.
Most importantly, he could totally cope with Pal Kang's brood. Mr. OCD was totally keeping his cool driving a small car with Pal Kang and her 5 siblings, including the screaming baby. And he ran to the police station to fetch Parang (who thought he was abandoned). And after all this 'inconvenience' and the crammed loud car, he bought them a fancy meal and remembered to get the baby's milk and didn't even seem to care when all the food got spilled on his courtesy of siblings. He's totally ready to be a surrogate Dad.
Secondary Girl should die in a fire. Honestly, I do not get it. Kang Ha has never expressed any interest. In fact, being himself, he repeatedly told you he is not interested and to leave him alone. He basically did everything short of tattooing it on his forehead. So WTF. Secondary Guy is irritating me too - WTF is he doing telling his brother to marry Secondary Hag because she's all emo and loves him. Even if it wasn't the blunt Kang Ha, what kind of marriage would that be? Are you on drugs, Secondary Guy?
I love the matter-of-fact way Kang Ha stands up for Pal Kang's place in his household. Because he says everything I am thinking (and usually I think all these things but kdrama heroes/heroines are too well-mannered to say). It's none of Secondary Girl's business what goes on in his house. It's also none of her business if he was Mr. OCD but now doesn't care if his shirts get ruined or his house is noisy. I love that he doesn't give her any explanation just says it doesn't bother him now. Because it's none of your business, Hag!
Also, I love that Pal Kang is still completely uninterested in him 'this way' but she likes him well enough now (she sees all his flaws and it would take a ridiculous amount of effort for her to see him as a romantic prospect, but she finds him nice because he's helped her out). And OMG he's flashbacking about her doing various things, from slapping him to helping him during a cold. And he's totally falling ahahahahahahaha.
My favorite scene was poor Parang in the police station, his terror at his belief he was abandoned :( I love that it's the most screw-up of all the kids that perfectionist Kang Ha is attached to and Parang totally idolizes him. They are such an odd couple.
I am so in love with this drama. Was it even coherent?

Date: 2010-02-02 04:21 am (UTC)3. Pal Kang is his granddaughter. In ep 1 (or was it 2), Pal Kang's mom said she had an affair with Grandpa's son, got pregnant, but then he died and Pal Kang was the kid. They are saying 'grandson' probably meaning 'grandchild' in subs - Korean must be like Russian where the male is the default - if you don't know the gender you use male form. I think with pretending he just wanted to see how they were and it would have been weird to reveal - he saw they were OK for time being.
4. She is kinda nuts. Did you see the preview for ep 10? When she smooches him and he exhibits a little less delight than if she was a case of cholera, she offers to take off all her clothes? In his office???? WTF! I mean, even if she was his gf that would be a bit much. (Also, about the worst idea ever. I doubt KH is the type to keep condoms in his office drawer and I bet she is the type of woman who'd lie about being on the Pill and get pregnant just to marry him). I mean - why? He never ever led her on. Bizarre (and which is why younger bro is such a moron - if she's like that with distinct disencouragement on KH's part, if he was nice to her she'd be like shark which smelled blood).
6. I didn't notice her clothes tbh. If there is a dresscode she's probably OK as they usually only deal with slutty clothes and hers aren't.

Date: 2010-02-02 04:35 am (UTC)I am glad he doesn't have a rabbit because Secondary Girl would totally boil it. She's insane.
The adorable bickering got me to squee and squee and squee. Not only is he totally human but they are both having such fun.

Date: 2010-02-02 03:20 pm (UTC)I was waiting until the entire series was complete and subbed but between you and the soompi thread I'm going to admit defeat and get started.
Where are you watching these subbed so quickly? I kind of hate viikii(sp?) for the horrible quality but it'll do I guess.

Date: 2010-02-02 05:54 pm (UTC)in other news, I agree second female lead should burn! THROW IN STUPID SECOND MALE LEAD while you're at it... and oh that lifeless exgf... I really don't know how she'd figure in the story but I'm super uninterested about her so throw her to the pit of fire too! seriously Jun Ha IS SOOOOO EFFIN STUPID! and Second female lead is super PATHETIC!UGH!
hagrid :)
Re: I AM EATING MY WORDS!!!
Date: 2010-02-02 06:00 pm (UTC)Second female lead is unbelievable.
a. can't act (possibly due to botox making face immobile)
b. hideous (should demand refund from surgeon)
c. has no charisma
d. character of insane person. I mean, if the guy's warmest emotion towards you has consistently been 'ugh, get away from me, freak', maybe you should give up? It's like the object of her affections is not a person - if she wants him, that's all she wants to know. (And she has no excuses like silly Pal Kang of ep 1 - she actually knows him, not ocassionally saw him in the hallway. And even then PK hardly offered to disrobe in his office).
Secondary Male is insane. He should get treated. "Hey, I know you never liked her and never indicated to her otherwise but why don't you marry her? That would make her happy, pls pls pls?" I mean - WTF? Not to mention, shouldn't you be at least a little concerned - the object of Ms. Stalker's lust is your brother, after all.
Secondary Guy comes across as superficially nice but he's weak and manipulative and kinda insane. At least with KH you know where you stand at all times (and also, now he's melted, he's adorable).
Re: I AM EATING MY WORDS!!!
Date: 2010-02-02 09:26 pm (UTC)At least the kids have an excuse - they are little :)
But yes, PK is not interested in romance and thr 3 men of the house are LEAST likely even under those circs (though she likes them all well enough to varying degrees, it's not romantic at all).
I wonder how she'll get together with KH because not only would she be extra-resistant due to past crush and her newfound knowledge of his flaws, but he is socially useless when it would come to wooing, I'd imagine. Hmm.
I also love that the drama is slowly and subtly showing that he wouldn't just be a good match for PK - but that he'd be good with that horde of kids - because that is the most important compatibility criteria for PK.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!! I can't help but I had such a huge smile when they were all in the car just before getting to the fancy restaurant. That was so family like ^^.
