Preview for first episode of Wallflower is out:

*phew* I am so relieved. They seem to have stuck a child actor in there (why?), but the basic feel seems the same and they are not cutting down a bit on Sunako's weirdness. Thank God.

Though much as I adore Kame, I can't see him as the handsomest guy in Japan. Just - no. I adore Kame and am happy he's a lead, so no complaints, but objectively speaking, e.g. the guy who plays Ranmaru is way hotter (the things I'd like to do to him :P).

Also, I am sure they won't have the time to cram in Ranmaru's OTP (even if that trope amuses me so - super-shy and super-high-class and he has no idea how to deal with her, LOL) but they cannot cannot CANNOT leave out Noi, Sunako's friend and Takenaga's GF. She is one of my fave secondary ladies ever!

ETA: eeeee, Noi is listed in the cast list! SCORE.

I think I don't like Kato Seishiro (child actor) more than my ambiguous feelings towards Oomasa Aya (Sunako). AND I LOVE LITTLE KIDS. DX

Also, I stand firm that ballet-prince (Ranmaru) looks at least 5 years older than the rest of his cast, when in reality, he's only a year or two. :death: I think that if they were gonna cast a ballet prince, Nishijima Kazuhiro would have been better. Granted, he's way older than everyone else, anyway, but he's hot. And married to Maya Miki! D;

Ranmaru looks about the same age to me, but I am bad at that sort of thing. He looks so freaking hot though, it could have fogged my brain - to me he is hotter than the other 3 guys combined :P

I don't like child actors outside of kdramas (where they get miraculously good ones for some reason) but this one is unappealing even by my standards.

I only really like Yagi Yuki (TOO CUTE. ♥) and I adore little kids in general but there's just something about this one that I don't like. Maybe it's the talent that everyone else sees but I don't, idk.

Ohhh, it does look promising! I have been on the fence about this because I've had a feeling they will not be able to capture the spirit of the manga. However, I am now looking forward to it. Kame is not the handsomest Japanese male, but he does have charisma (and I do love him because of Sapuri and THnK - I have repressed the other dramas he's done). I was just watching the latest KAT-TUN concert DVD and he seems to have fixed his teeth. I just wish he'd put on a few more pounds, then he'd definitely look even better.

Really happy Giri Giri will sub this because they always do a kick ass job.

I adore Kame (agreed - due to Sapuri and Tattakoi), and I certainly find him attractive, I am just amused that he's picked as the most handsome Japanese male ever :P There are some Japanese actors who make me go into heat just by looking at them but he isn't one of them, much as I adore him.

Yeah, it looks like they got the spirit of the manga - makes me so happy.

Yeah, if you are going for an age-appropriate Johnny who can act, it's between him, Matsujun (my fave of the bunch, but lookwise, even more wrong) and Yamapi (someone I used to love, but love less with each drama).

Like you, I really used to love Yamapi, but I find him more and more wooden. He's really shy in real life and I don't think he is able to let go completely when he's acting. That and the fact that he tries to be Kimutaku, which he definitely is not.

Well, they seem to have captured some of the tone of the series, so I'm tentatively looking forward to it...

...but I love Kame and I don't think he looks very attractive in the trailer! I consider him one of the most appealing actors of his generation and he just looks really plain in those scenes. I think it's the hair - he looked best when he had it tied back in a ponytail. I hope they don't keep it all limp and in his face for the entire series!

I've never seen Ranmaru before, but he looks okay, Yuya is not as cute as he has been (maybe it's the hair?) but Uchi looks surprisingly convincing as Takenaga! When I first saw the cast list I assumed he'd be Ranmaru but I guess not!

Hard to judge Oomosa Aya from what we've seen. My fingers are crossed!

I'm disappointed with the hair as well. It looks like Sapuri hair, doesn't it? I wish they cut it and put more volume to it - like it was in May of 2009 (when they recorded the KAT-TUN Break the Records DVD). I loved it there!

Tegoshi is also not looking his best. Why?? He definintely has the potential!

Uchi though - hadn't seen him in a couple of years, and wow, he's really hot all of a sudden.

These guys are all too young for me, so I shouldn't be assessing their looks like this. Sometimes I forget my age. LOL.

Kame, I adore him, flat hair or no, but somehow I feel more older sisterish towards him than hormonal - I want him to do well and get the girl in his dramas and be super-successful in general but I don't want to jump him - I end up loving his characters though.

Personally i was gonna watch the drama FOR the little kid. He was pretty fantastic in Ninkyo Helper and well, i've not actually watched Kame in anything so i don't know what to expect. YET.

This drama can go any way - i end up disliking it quickly, it ends up to be complete crack i can't take seriously but have to finish (a la Mei-chan), it's actually GOOD (XD) or i'm just meh about it.

We shall see!

Haven't touched the manga (way i see it, not having a clue what the plotline is helps to go in so you can watch it for what it is and not what it should be) no BUT i was intriuged by your Bali clip that i might go and d/l the first episode. I think i need something dark and depressingly hot and well, it seems that current kdramas don't seem to hold my attention so i might as well check out the oldies...

Really? I've watched quite a few jdramas last year with kids and haven't had anything against any of them from Yamanade kid in Ninkyo to that boy in JIN and the Ponyo girl in Shiroi Haru (You should watch that. It's like JIN with the non-crack but genuine touching story and the relationship with Abe Hiroshi and the girl is great. Also, your Kairi (Yoshitaka Yuriko) is in it too and she's lovely).

LOL I do not get the fuss over Kame. I think he's one of the most unattractive j-drama actors out there. Maybe because I was first introduced to him in Nobuta and in that drama his eyebrows were thinner and more shaped than mine and it disturbed me greatly. All I could stare at were his eyebrows that got thinner and shapelier as each episode went by.

BUT the drama looks promising, if a bit too fluffy and light. Then again, most j-dramas are (I want another one like Pride!).

I will have to say that the girl seems very pretty, and just dresses strangely. Long bangs does not = weirdness, lol. It'll be like that scene in Teen Movie where the geeky girl takes off her glasses and puts her hair down and she's PRETTY. All Sunako will have to do lookswise is brush her hair back and put down the black hood.

LOL you've seen Nobuta and Love Shuffle right? all Maki and Yoshitaka would've had to do is put THEIR hair back and lift up their heads and boom! instatransformation from an extremely weird, slightly creepy, highly quirky/dorky girl into a stunningly pretty young woman. I like Kame, don't think he's hot though. I don't find most Japanese guys hot though (Takki, Nagase, and younger Fujiki Naohito are about it. Though that Ranmaru guy might get added to the list). I like them a bit beefy :)

It feels like Kame was in 90% of that promo instead of Sunako. It makes sense because he's a bigger name but still, the story is about Sunako. It was also painful watching Kame trying to act badass breaking that table.

If they made this drama a few years ago, I could definetely see Takki as Kyouhei.
