I am in the middle of episode 7 of Resurrection and I really love it.

A few brief points:

1. I sincerely appreciate that Haeun does his angsting while shirtless. It is an artistic choice that I really approve of. I rewound one such bit for purely plotty reasons. Mmmm.

2. Haeun was adorable as the sweet-natured, forthright detective but as the angry, revenge-driven, his-dead-twin-impersonating, beyond messed up Haeun? My God. Ridiculously hot.

3. I do see the same themes of revenge and damnation that echo in Mawang. It's a little less tortured (at least so far) because the bad guys in this one are such awful people - I am rooting for them to die basically (as opposed to Mawang where some of revenge victims were horrors but some not so and the main target of revenge, due to passage of time, changed and was actually a better person than the avenger. Not to mention the whole action that had to be avenged was much less clear-cut). But you also see what it is doing to Haeun, the good-guy, well-adjusted-despite-it-all Haeun and you want it to stop. You just want him to go back to Eunha and have adorable dorky babies and not ever think of this stuff. But ultimately, he doesn't have much of a choice - if he went back as himself, the baddies would just order another murder and this time it won't be his twin who gets it (oh, I totally cried - I liked Shinhyeok - he was reserved but so happy to see his brother and so hopeful).

4. I adore Eunha. Just as in Mawang, it is the woman who is the beacon of sanity.

5. I do not adore Haeun's former friend. Die die die you weak-willed scum.

1. Yes, yes, angsting is always better shirtless... and essential to the plot. ;P

2. I concur, I do... It's the sheer INTENSITY! God help me but I thought UTW hot even in Handphone and the character he plays is such a total piece of shit in it. Clearly I need some sort of help...

3. *nod, nod, nod*

4. Loved Eun Ha, loved!

5. Well, he had his reasons. Besides he believed when he was told that the 'you know what' would not happen. He did atone for his sins, though I don't think he could ever really forgive himself.

I am now through ep 9 and this is so good. I totally love all the scenes with Haeun and Eunha, where he has to try to pretend to be a stranger but it's killing him - the bit with having to address the new workers and pretend not to notice her and then she runs after him and he acts polite and puzzled and distant but you see his hands all balled into fists and then he bolts and is crying - ohhhh, that hurt. Or the bit where he watches her walk. OMG.

I confess I actually like the crooked builder's son - the one who likes Eunha. He seems nice and very very cute. Hmmm.

Yeah - he is not as bad as the Assemblyman but he's still awful - worse in a way because Assemblyman had a hit on a stranger - Haeun was his best friend.

LOLOL. For me, my love for UTW depends on the role - in this and Mawang I hyperventilate over him, in QSD I was indifferent, in DGCH I loathed him. Which I guess means he's a good actor :)

Eunha is just so together and so sane.

ETA: In some ways, this drama reminds me of Green Rose - same theme of revenge, early-set-up OTP, guy having to pretend not to know his girl etc etc. Have you seen it? You might like it, it's very good.

Resurrection is a great drama and I started to like Uhm Tae Wong after this. His performance is very good and I really disliked the bad guys here but then again I almost always root for the good guy - the only exception is the film Old Boy.

At the time I saw this it was very different from the dramas I have seen so far and I was very very impressed with it.

Currently watching Jumong and I love it as much as the S.Korean public did :)

Spoiler for Avatar The Air Bender and Harry Potter

(and I liked Zuko and Snape a lot but they both turned out to be good guys in the end)

I really love the part when he finds his twin's body and he just screams. His anger and desperation is just so raw, and... *sigh* UTW ftw.
