dangermousie: (IRIS by loubox)

I had yet another dream about IRIS ending. That's two nights in a row. Can you say obsessed?

I actually remembered this one pretty well - in it, there was incontrovertible evidence Seung Hee was an evil IRIS mastermind (said evidence was in form of teddybears - my subconscious is whack) so Hyun Joon had one awesome romantic evening with her and then shot her as per orders (clearly my subconscious is not keen on the likely - HJ isn't so good on orders and in any event would only kill her if she was a second away from blowing up the Universe). And then, in my dream, as he was sitting there with her body in his arms, all of a sudden someone came in who brought proof that all the evidence against Seung Hee was false after all, so Hyun Joon basically killed the woman he loved for nothing. Ummmm. Clearly I am confusing IRIS with (my favorite Indian movie ever) Omkara which had the most devastating final scene ever which basically went along the same lines. Well, at least whatever happens this week won't be as bad. Maybe I should write kdramas.

Now I am going to cheer self up with this:

Also, Lee Byung Hun, please don't let it be another 7 years between dramas! I couldn't stand it!

In other news, if you are not watching Will it snow for Christmas, why not?

If IRIS ends up with even the possibility of the OTP happy, I'll send the makers a thank you letter. In Korean via a google translator :P

Aughhhh!

I was just streaming the first ep of Will it Snow on Christmas, but the last part refuses to work for me. Can you tell me what happened so I don't have the download the whole thing for just a few minutes?

Baby hero told heroine to butt out of his life (after she saw him almost kill the dude messing with his mom) and hero's mom was explaining how she wasn't a bad parent because she didn't abandon her kids and run off with a sugar daddy. Such a selfless woman. :p

Oooh, you missed a lot :)

I am lazy, so I am copying from dramabeans' recap (shockingly she watched it and even more shockingly she liked it(:

With brash fearlessness, she [Ji Wan] paints epithets on the boss’s car (”Son of a bitch!” etc).

When the boss sees the graffiti, he nearly has an aneurysm from the fury. Ji-wan pelts him with eggs and shit, cursing him for tormenting the lives of those weaker than him. Fuming, the boss beelines to the tearoom and accuses Madam Cha of putting that “little bitch” up to it. Everyone is genuinely bewildered, but Kang-jin hears him swearing about the girl and makes an educated guess.

Kang-jin runs into Ji-wan by the bridge — with a bruised face, probably hit by the boss — and asks, confused and upset, “Why did you do it?”

Ji-wan answers, “Because you couldn’t.” Everybody in town knows what a horrible man he is: “You know it too, but you can’t do anything.” Her immediate concern is for him, and worriedly tells him to pretend not to know her, so he won’t suffer for her actions. When the boss finds them, she urges Kang-jin to run off and insists that she acted entirely alone.

Kang-jin takes her advice and walks away coldly, leaving Ji-wan to deal with the man.

Only, the man strikes her in the face. Unfazed, Ji-wan screams at him, “Hit me again! Hit me again!” The man punches her again, sending her tumbling to the ground...

Cue ep 2

isn't Ji Wan freaking AWESOME?

There is this one thing grown-up Ji Wan does in the beginning of ep 3 which made me love her forever.

dude it sounds like HYD only the heroine was unable to punch the asshole into loving her. still sounds interesting though.

what's it about? I'd google it but the d addicts wiki always gives me such super vague descriptions to go by.

Basically Hero is this brilliant but messed-up son of a hooker who moves to a new small town and heroine is this tough spunky daughter of a town big noise. She decides to "woo" him and then dump him because he stole a girlfriend from a guy she crushed on (teenage logic - it actually made sense) so she goes all out but then she finds out what kind of horrid life he really leads and, being herself, of course jumps to his defense (and ends up defacing local gangster's car heeeeee).

Ok, this stuff happens in ep 2 so I am spoiler hiding it for wolfie's sake: Gangster is beating her up so hero returns and chokes the life out of the guy almost. Blah blah blah they now like each other, then something really bad happens which isn't his fault, but she lashes out at him as one most available, telling him some awful stuff, and runs away from home. Fast-forward 8 yrs, he's now a successful architect and he runs into her at her engagement party. To which the groom decides not to show up. And then, in a scene which was Makino-like and made me love her forever, after dismissing all the guests, she grimly sits down to eat all the meals - because the food is good and it will go to waste!

He still likes her, she is all conflicted etc

omg done with ep two and it almost made me cry. I got ridiculously invested in their childhood selves -- I could've watched a whole drama about them.

I could have too. They were so good.

Watch ep 3 - it is sooooo good.

I felt so awful for the both of them - in their last childhood meeting. Talk about an ouch. He finally opens up to someone and trusts someone only to have THAT thrown in his face. But I can't blame her at all - it's like she is punishing everyone, herself included, for her brother's death.

I admit, I felt their last encounter was a little off. I can fanwank her reasons but I wish they were more clear in canon. (That said, those teenage actors were really really good.)

I think my favorite scene so far (besides the eggs) is when he finally starts to fall for her and corrects her essay while she's sleeping. That little smile!

The last encounter made total sense to me - she is so hurt - her brother had just died (because, as she would think, she had a stupid crush and tried to impress a boy, a boy who didn't even need impressing as he liked her anyway) and she heard her mother say she'd rather her daughter died instead.

Of course she is lashing out. I'd do the same tbh.

People at soompi are all over the possibility of them being (or believing they are) half-sibs.

It makes sense, I just wish they'd dwelled on it in canon a little, since they didn't explore her feelings at all and only showed her crying -- which was certainly fitting but not exactly informative.

They could've cut out some of his mother's long-winded speeches if they were pressed for time.

They are totally half-siblings, I'd bet money on it.

I can't see how they could be half-siblings within kdrama rules (I have never yet seen a canon drama otp that was halvsies) but it all points that way - I suppose she could be daughter of mum's affair with someone and not the husband. I am OK with that. (You have no idea how bitter I was that YAB hinted that the otp could have believed they were halfsibs and then did nothing with it - illustrative of the rest of that drama).

Btw, I'll pm you the someday links.

Ah, you're probably right. That or he only thinks they share a father -- didn't dad say the fling happened 20 years ago? Hero didn't look that old at the time.

Thank you!

Hahahaha, I love how she's calling her jerk fiance and at first she tries the sweet girly message but then lets it rip how she really feels. SHE IS SO GREAT.

So awesome.

I love how he can't touch her so we get all those lovely lingering shots of his hand hovering over her bare back or pulling away from stroking her sleeping face. Swooooooon.
