Husband and I were away in CA for the Labor Day weekend...San Francisco, Route 1, Santa Barbara...yum. Best weekend ever.

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is dreadfully dull so far (I am about 30 pages in). I hope it gets better soon, or bye-bye it goes. Also, "Blackhawk" is not a REAL person last name, try to keep that in mind, nameless novelist of a romance novel I tried reading in the airport. If you make me giggle, you lost me. On the plus side, Palin's "Sahara" is one hell of a read.

In other news, I am planning to rewatch Farscape and Firefly. Yay.

Strange and Norrell is going to be slow all the way throughout, and the language isn't going to get any easier. From what I've heard, people are either hooked or will never pick it up again by page 50.

Oh, it's not the language. I actually rather enjoy magicians=academia. It's just so far there aren't any characters I've fallen for (but then not all of them have even appeared yet).

It's a book I'll read and finish and won't hate, but so far I am not getting all the love.

It's very, very subtle - Clark expects the reader to pick up on very quiet clues. Much like a book version of The Others.

Personally, I liked Jonathan a lot. I'm happy to hear that there's going to be a sequel.

Haven't met Jonathan yet. I've just met the York magicians and Segundus and Norell...

I haven't read Strange & Norell, but what I've heard is that it's VERY slow for the first third of the book.

Hey! You were up in my neck of the woods (San Francisco). Beautiful, isn't it?

Farscape & Firefly...can't go wrong there.

Oh yes...San Francisco is one of my favorite cities. We ended up just walking for hours one evening and it was just...guuuuuh.

I like your icon, where is it from?

It is really gorgeous here. I haven't been here long, but there's a part of me that really wants to stay forever. If only it wasn't so expensive!

My icon is from Tales from a Parallel Universe, which eventually became the TV show Lexx. The TV show wasn't so great, but the original 4 made-for-cable movies that launched them are really entertaining. The guy in the picture, Kai, is an undead assassin, so he's prone to say things like: "I'm dead. I have no future." *g*
