I didn't vote because.... I have rather conflicting feelings about YAB myself. I really liked it up till ca. ep 12 or so and then it just went flat on me. I still thought it was a fun little drama but.... dunno, something wasn't there anymore. It does get some character development and the ending is better than expected (e.g. she keeps her own head about her future). Actually, to be quite honest, I think I finished it for Jung Yong Hwa, LOL! Gosh, I'm becoming so shallow in me old age.
You know - that's me. I think I full-on adored it until ep 10 or so and then - all of a sudden I fell out of love. I don't even know why. I think not eough change or conflict was happening and I got bored.
P.S. Watch Will It Snow on Xmas - I need someone to squee with :)
I think my problem was that the OPT and their story just failed to grab me. Even though I'm not a shipper I still need to feel something towards the lovebirds to stay interested. There wasn't enough going on with the seconday characters either. So, in the end I was just oggling Shin Woo and his loooongggg legs. XD Well, the boy IS rather lovely.
You are en evil temptress! Ok, you win. I'll finish off Last Scandal first (3 more episodes to go)....
i am on my second viwing because i really LOVE it. not exactly my age drama but there is something about it that keeps wanting more and more. specially those TK x MN moments. it has become one of my top fav dramas. you really should give it another try. i am just wondering how you stopped watching after everything you were writing and all those caps you were posting. i did start YAB becausse i kept reading about it in your LJ ;-)
It's funny - I adored it so much and then abruply fell out of love (if I was that fickle in romance in rl, it would be baaaaaad). But you are right, I should finish.
Mi-nyeo doesn't get any worse but she doesn't get any better either. I doubt the last two episodes will induce any rage but it's not going to change your mind either.
If you don't finish it now, you might never do it. At least that's what it's like that for me. I watched 7 1/2 (of 9) episodes of Kami no Shizuku and 6 of 8 of Conspiracy in the court. In retrospect wish I'd just powered through. That way I could have a real opinion about those dramas. I wasn't exactly crazy about those last two episodes of YAB, but they were enjoyable nevertheless.
I thought it was a "heavy" drama and I also found the subtitles (by Mr. X) extremely detailed - almost too much. I had to pause so many times to really get the dialogue, and the episodes were so long - 1 hr 17-18 min - that is too long! Yi San is sort of the CitC lite version and I actually enjoyed that more, even though I never finished Yi San either - got to episode 66. ^_^
It is so beautifully done though, and one of the reasons why I am really looking forward to Chuno is because I saw what Kwak Jung Hwan could do with such a small budget. My expectations of Chuno is through the roof. I really hope it it will deliver like IRIS.
Me too! And some of the words were not even in the dictionary. LOL. Thinking about it, the subs probably played a part in why I didn't finish the drama. I thought it sometimes bordered on verbal masturbation on his part.
Oh God - I remember he had someone say they were "pullulating" and I was...whaaaaaat? It's a word but I have never heard it before (the last time I had to look something in thr dictionary it was narwhal when I was reading Dunnett - I don't usually have problems like this).
I am all for fancy complex subtitles but they have to be understandable!
I realized I haven't watched anything else he's subbed, so I don't know if it's his style or just the script in this drama. I'm pretty sure he'll do Chuno though, so we'll see. :)
I've watched Kingdom of the Winds with his subs and they were just fine. So maybe, in all fairness, it was just the script with the really archaic speech.
I say yes - don't let crazy fandom ruin the drama for you. The last two episodes are, I think, the best of the series. As others have said, it really isn't up to Hong sister standards (they really never seemed to know what to do with this one - a lot of missed opertunities story wise), but its a good little drama.
I liked it well enough to finish it. I don't think its life changing or anything, but I liked the actors and bits of the character interaction. I really want to see the actors in more things, actually. Just because I saw some signs that they couild be really good playing more developed characters. I really want to see Lee Hong Ki in a drama where he is the male in a secondary OTP (its too soon for him to be a lead) or as the youngest son in a Sat/Sun family drama. AS for Jang Geun Suk and Park Shin Hye - could they be the OTP in an angsty drama please? Their CMs for Etude were hot and they do have chemistry. Also, UEE should be the bitchy friend/sister/whatever with a heart for years to come.
Yeah - I saw all these interesting directions it could go into but didn't. But I should finish it.
Once of these days JGS will be in a drama where I both love his character and the drama itself (Loved HGD, didn't care for his character, loved his character in YAB didn't care for the drama. The very premise of BV bored me). Until that day...
Jist knock the episodes out when there is nothing on one day.
JGS is a rather good young actor. It's a shame you never like his characters and dramas together, Have you tried Hwang Jin-i? It might be your thing - JGS is Ha Ji-won's first love. It's a bit odd at times, because he does look so baby-faced (he was 19, she was 27), but I've heard he was cute there.
Speaking of age differences: how is What's Up Fox? going?
You ought to finish it, it's only two more episodes. It's not like Fated to Love you which ran along at a cracking pace for twelve episodes. Then dragged along for another twelve where not a lot really happened.
Don't let crazed fandom ruin it, it's only two eps left, so you should finish it if it's not really one of your favourites. I should watch finish it myself as soon as possible, as well... :P
I didn't vote but I'd say finish it because you've got two eps left. That's nothing. If it was 3-6, I'd say don't bother. It's only two hours. Of course, if it's really excruciating for you, don't do it, but since I take it you're like me and just don't feel the heroine, it might not be that bad?
I was in the exact same position as you - I dropped it a few weeks back cause I got fed up but I just watched the final two episodes yesterday and I have to say, it was definitely worth it:) delicious angst and I'd forgotten how fantastic their chemistry is. They weren't world-breaking - someone suggested to me that the Hong sisters had expected an extension since their dramas do well and had planned on developing TK and Mi-nam more, but then ended up having to rush it a bit instead, which makes sense to me as the two certainly did grow up to an extent in those last two. It still felt rushed and under-developed, but the suggestion makes me feel better.
only two more episodes....~~~. lol, i say go for it, if not just so that it's finished. the last few episodes were probably my favs, and one of (what i think is) the best JGS moments was in 15, so i say go for it.
I'm not going to lie, I spent most of YAB pressing the FF, but I guess it might be worth finishing simply so you can say "well, I gave it a chance and it still sucks :DDD"
