And apparently it's Jang Geun Seok singing?????? Of course I knew from YAB but the boy does have a pretty incredible voice for someone who is not a singer but an actor.
One of the things I love the most about City Hall is that the characters are grown ups. Most kdramas aren't big on teenybopper stuff (BOF and YAB being rather exception than the rule) but dramas like City Hall and Last Scandal take that even further - the leads of City Hall won't ever see 35 again (or 40 in the hero's case) and guess what - they still get to be drama leads!
I so need a City Hall icon.
The leads' chemistry is out of this world btw.

Date: 2009-12-05 03:39 pm (UTC)You're right kdramas aren't that big on teenybopper stuff (yet), but all the ongoing speculations & plans for manga/manhwa remakes & adaptations makes me think the landscape isn't that favorable for those who're 'getting on.' And it probably says more about my age that I find the male leads on IRIS so scrumptious than it does about the dominant trends:
All I can do is just sit back & enjoy the remaining two weeks of 'maturity & competence are so hot!'.

Date: 2009-12-05 06:59 pm (UTC)This makes me worried too, sometimes. I wonder if kdramas are going to go the way of jdramas where, if you watch 1990s stuff, all the leads are grown-ups and now most dramas are all these manga teenybopper things and it's getting hard to find a good, grown-up, 'down to earth' jdramas.

Thank you for the mini-picspam! *feels very satisfied* I agree - I am rather too old to swoon over leads of e.g. You're Beautiful (I want to give them sandwiches and tell them not to forget to wipe their feet) but also I find that the concerns in those types of dramas often don't interest me too much because of where I am/am not in life. E.g. in Last Scandal - one of the reasons I loved it so is that I could really understand the leads - do I have a cheating useless husband? No, but Sun Hee's place in life and grown-up concerns (marriage, support of daughter, getting money etc) is something I can understand very well. I am a grown up and I want to watch dramas about grown ups. There is nothing wrong with teenybopper dramas but it's not my thing.
I do think that as long as period dramas get good ratings, I am at least guaranteed adult stories that way.
