Guess what Miss Mousie is watching tonight?

That's right, I got a complete set of eps for Legend of the Condor Heroes, the 2008 version with Hu Ge and Ariel Lin. I find wuxia dramas are delicious, violent fairytales for grown-ups and this looks to fill the craving. How could I resist, when it features a crossdressing, morally flexible (on occasion), very clever heroine who travels around the country having martial arts adventures with a very honorable, very hot and rather dim guy?

I dare you to refuse after this shippy vid:

I'll be in my bunk :P

Oh, I watched it earlier this year and it was great! I mean, I've seen so many versions of this but I never get tired. I think my favourite would have to be the first one I watched with Felix Wong and Barbara Yeung...that was such a classic! (Although I think if I watched it now, it would just seem too dated!)

Have you seen the version of Return of the Condor Heroes with Louis Koo?
(Which I swear every girl my age has seen and absolutely loves...LOL I loved it, but have always preferred the shy, bumbling, naive Guo Jing to ladies man Yang Guo)

I think Huang Xiaoming bears a resemblance to Louis Koo actually...LOL

I haven't seen any ROCH except for 2008 (my biggest wuxia love ... sigh)

i tried...lord knows i tried... but i just cannot come to terms with this version. i've watched just about every version going, but i just can't deal with ariel lin/hu ge! i mean, ariel lin is adorable, but just not as Huang Rong! her turn as Xiang Qin might have ruined her for me i suppose.

his braids, them deciding to dub her over with someone else's mainland chinese accent, etc. ARGH!!!

here are links to the opening and ending credits. i cant seem to find mvs for it. i think it's too old now.

LOL, i think a re-watch of Legend of the Condoe Heroes, followed up with Return of the Condor Heroes followed by Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre is coming up. Might as well complete the trilogy!

I am not really familiar with other versions/original so I think (hopefully) I can enjoy this.

Mainland practice of dubbing over everyone is...odd.

"but have always preferred the shy, bumbling, naive Guo Jing to ladies man Yang Guo"

Even though I don't really consider Yang Guo a 'ladies man', I agree that I too prefer Guo Jing to him.

Yang Guo is too complicated and carries loads of baggage.
Guo Jing is simple and not really complicated at all since his world is black and white and his sense of what is right and what is wrong is clearly defined. Actually he is my wuxia crush ever since I read that LOCH (Jin Yong novels are soo good with strong female characters, he is the man who is responsible for my wuxia novel addiction).

I was a bit worried to watch the TV series for that (I have seen Duke of Mount Deer and Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber (now Zhang Wu Ji, he is a ladies man for sure) - both starring Tony Leung CW and both highly recommended. But I'm a bit afraid to watch my hero on screen, in case I didn't like the actor's performance. I hope this makes sense.
