dangermousie: (Legend: Kiha Ho Gae hands by alexandral)

Yes, the new year is upon us, and if we've been good boys and girls, it will be filled with more fun dramas. Here is my most anticipated list for 2010

1. Slave Hunters (Korea)

If you don't know that this story of runaway slaves and slave-catchers is my number one, you have not been reading this livejournal. Angst, romance, fights, and Jang Hyuk, Lee Da Hae and Oh Ji Ho make Chuno my most anticipated.

2. Will It Snow for Christmas? (Korea)

Well, technically it starts in mid-December 2009 but the bulk of it will be shown in 2010. Go Soo's first drama out of the army, written by my favorite Korean screenwriter and with a PD that I adore, this promises me a delicious dark love story of poor guy, rich girl, and a hell of a lot of issues.

3. Summer Desire (Taiwan)

Pop idols! Stepsibling love! Amnesia! Kindappings! Suicide attempts! Love triangles of doom! Hot men! My favorite Asian actress ever Barbie Hsu as the lead! How will I last until March? I go into hormonal overload over Huang Xiaoming, kthnks.

4. Road No. 1 (Korea)

This drama about Korean war, involving angst, love, and So Ji Sub makes me quite hyper and not just because it covers a rarely-done-in-dramas period of Korean history.

5. Jaejoongwon (Korea)

Lady interpreters, doctors trying Western medicine, 19th-century setting, awesomeness all around.

6. Wallflower (Japan)

This adaptation of one of my favorite mangas can be good or bad but hopefully good. Plus, I adore Kame.

7. Calling Love (Taiwan)

I am a sucker for idol dramas about idols. It's deliciously cannibalistic. Plus, mmmm, Mike He.

8. Dong Yi (Korea)

Everyone needs a good solid sageuk in their lives.

9. The Man Called God (Korea)

Song Il Gook back on my screen, dealing out vengeance in a manhwa-turned-drama.

10. Pick the Stars (Korea)

There is always room for a romcom on my list, especially one with such an appealing cast.

Korean version of Absolute Boyfriend would definitely be on it, but it's not confirmed as of yet so who knows if it will happen.

What are yours?

With all these manga/manhwa adaptations, I'm just waiting for somebody to do Snow Drop. It would be perfect drama material :D!

1. Jaejoongwon - For everything you've said. But writer Lee Ki-won (White Tower) is the biggest draw for me here. I love how the writer combined sageuk genre (and 19th century Korea at that!) and medical genre into one unique package. I mean, hey, if anyone can pull that off, it has to be Lee Ki-won, the only one who's entitled to the 'Managing-to-make-Len-watch-a-medical-drama-and-like-it' title so far. *g*

2. Road No. 1 - PD Kim Jin-min (La Dolce Vita, Time of Dog and Wolf), writer Han Ji-hoo (Taegukgi, Time of Dog and Wolf), and So Ji-sub. Oh, and it's about the Korean War, and I love it when Korea tackles this subject and the themes revolving around it.

3. Chuno - The topic doesn't interest me as much as it should, although I think the cast is great and apparently, PD Kwak Jung-hwan and writer Chun Sung-il are the real draw. Unfortunately, I haven't watched Level 7 Civil Servant or Conspiracy in the Court, though I've heard a lot of praise about these two shows, so I'll probably check them out someday.

1. I hate medical dramas (JIN is the only one I ever managed to like) but this is a rare one I want to watch - I love the cast and the period.

2. I loved LDV (though still need to finish) and TODAW. And that's a heck of a scriptwriter, I did not know he was involved.

3. My obsession with Chuno knows no bounds.

1. The Man Called God: Song Il Gook + revenge = sign me up!

2. Massugu na Otoko: Sato Ryuta plays an honest guy who tries to "change" his OTP's "selfish" ways and it doesn't work. I like that the guy is the sweet, naive one in this drama.

3. Magerarenai Onna: Ogiwara Saki, 33, is a woman who does not go with the flow of society but forges her own path. She hates flattering men and trying to be nice to people of the same sex. She has failed the bar exam ten times in a row but persists in her dream of being a lawyer while working as a clerk at a law firm. I don't think I've ever seen a female lead like that in a drama before.

1. It does sound awesome. Plus, I can always buy SIG bringing on some pain :P

2. Ooooh, this sounds like it could be cute.

3. Office drama is nay but awesome heroine is yay.

1. CHUNO
Only drama I am really dying to see!!!

2. Jaejoongwon
I usually hate medical dramas too. They always manage to screw stuff up for me (I'm a nurse). I love JIN, but they explained something entirely wrong there too - I am hoping it was the subbing team, but I don't think so :-( I love history though, so I am intrigued by this.

4. The Man Called God (Korea)
Because of Song Il Gook!

5. Pick the Stars (Korea)
YUMMMMMY!

- Kimi wa Petto (K-version) should be on the list (will it be in 2010?) had it not been for the male lead. I am pretty sure they are going to ruin what could be a great drama once again. (I am looking at you, BOF!)

KWP is a movie though, not a drama, apparently, and now even its very existence is in doubt - a fact of which I have mixed feelings.

I don't know actually - there's been no confirmation from KHJ.

What I think they should do - is to scrap the movie plans and the male lead and do a great drama instead. I don't really think the story is movie material.

Hello, random commenter dropping in... :)

Summer's Desire is coming out in March!? For the longest time I thought it was going to be late 2009... D: This makes me quite sad.
