I adore a good trashy read!

Am about halfway through Cassandra Claire's City of Bones. Am amused to note:

1. There are parts CC lifted from the Draco Trilogy, from quotes to story patterns (there is even one really long long passage that is directly lifted). Nothing wrong with it - it's her own fanfic she is borrowing from - but still amusing.

2. The characters are basically DT characters. Jace = Draco, of course (it's pleasing to see CC is so devoted to one particular hero type. I still like him in all his Lymond-wannabe glory, though if he breaks out leather pants I am out). Clary is...let's call her Ginermione (I guess CC finally gave Hermione to Draco :P). Hodge is Lupin and Luke is Sirius. Isabelle is Rhysenn. Simon is Ron. Mysterious Valentine is bound to be a Voldemort/Lucius cross-over. Jocelyn, Clary's Mom, is Narcissa. The Circle = Death Eaters. Trying to find these is ridiculously entertaining. Haven't seen Harry yet.

3. Jace is such a kdrama hero! A horrifically abusive father, a wrong love for the girl he thinks is his sister, and a bunch of sharp weapons. CC could go in for some drama-writing on the side.

This is IRRESISTABLE, you guys! It's such a trashy shoujo manga come to the page. It's making me relive my youthful love for the Draco Trilogy in all its overwrought, melodramatic and ridiculous glory.

With a name like Jace you know the leather pants are never far away. I remember the Draco trilogy: it was...well, I am not sure how to describe it. But I will never forgive it for creating fanon Draco as a tragic misunderstood character, though. He's a useless aristo! He couldn't even fight properly! *ahem*

I will always love the fact that in the epilogue, JKR made Draco balding :)

I never got the Draco appeal either. Why? I mean, if you want to write the aristo rebel boy from evil family who went against them and turned good and had tons of angst, you even have ready-made characters - Sirius or Regulus fit the bill to a t!

Jace hasn't broken out the leather pants yet? Knowing her love of leather I'd have thought even Clary would've broken in her first pair by now.
II never read the Draco Trilogy so I always thought Simon was Xander, Isabelle = Cordelia and Valentine was Lord Voldemort/Darth Vader.

OMGDNESS I LOVED THE WHOLE TRILOGY. such wonderful indulgent trashy goodness =D (it helps, of course, that the DT was one of my favourite time-wasters in my teens. such good memories! xp)

and yes, there was even an entire scene which i was convinced sounded much too familiar. i'm not sure if it's because she left a cookie of it on her lj or because it was really from dt though.

oh and at the end of dt (i don't suppose you're about to re-read it in any case, it is FREAKISHLY long too) draco ends up with ginny. it was long and arduous and so wonderfully kdrama. =D

and i suspect that you cannot find harry because harry wasn't awfully popular towards the end of the hp series, i should suspect. =.= even CC's fanon!harry was quite annoying in the last instalment of DT, actually (I think dealing with his hero issues were a bit in the way when draco, ginny and ron all had super important roles towards the end), so i would suppose CC was happy to run along just with her jace/fanon!draco.

or maybe clary is just supposed to be harginermione.

I just read the DT ending - sooooooooo kdrama. I loved it even as my soul died at the overwroughtness.

YES IT IS. =D and since you've read the ending - did you spot cc!tom in the city trilogy? although i actually think cc!tom was more enjoyable in the dt trilogy lol. (except the way he died. if i remember correctly it felt way too easy for cc!draco =.=)
