This is going to sound ridiculous but I literally got tears in my eyes and gasped out loud when I looked on soompi and saw that

THE FEMALE LEAD OF CHUNO IS GOING TO BE LEE DA HAE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, guys, you have no idea of the depths of my excitement. Lee Da Hae is my favorite kdrama actress. Seriously. I love her beyond words (the underwritten role in East of Eden notwithstanding). I wanted to see her do a period drama for AGES.

I mean.

Lee Da Hae.

In a drama that I was already fixating on.

And starring with one of my favorite drama guys, Jang Hyuk, with whom she already had such gorgeous chemistry in Robbers (no idea if her OTP is Jang Hyuk or Oh Ji Ho in this one, and don't much care tbh - Jang Hyuk pining for Lee Da Hae fulfills my drama awesomeness quota already, without any need on her part to reciprocate his feelings).

Oh. My. GUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH.

Seriously.

(She is also more age-appropriate than Han Hyo Joo who was a bit too young for both the leading men).

With Chunho, I am primarily amused at how the Dramawiki summary makes it sound like the heroine will be the third party in the triangle.

Though, as fond as I am of Lee Da Hae, I'm having difficulty picturing her in the costumes.

Haven't checked the dramawiki summary yet, but LOL. That would definitely up the forbidden love quotient.

This whole cast is oddly contemporary - LDH, Jang Hyuk (he did do a sageuk, Daemang, 6 or so years ago, but he has such a contemporary vibe to me), Oh Ji Ho (also no sageuks at all) but I don't know - it's almost as if they are going for a particular modern vibe with this cast which could be...interesting (or a disaster, I suppose, but I presume the PD knows what he is doing). LDH does have classic looks and looks amazing in a hanbok (not to mention is a better actress than Han Hyo Joo, much as I like HHJ) so hopefully it will be good. The odds are in its favor - I have yet to see a period Korean drama I didn't at least like (and often love).

Damo. Ahhh. I will always love Damo for being my first sageuk (and still one of the best). I really hope you continue with Yi San btw - because I am dying to check it out but need motivation as it's so scarily long.

omg. I have such mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I am pleased that they've chosen some one so we don't have to wait out in the stratosphere, and I'm glad that apparently she has great chemistry with JH...and on the other hand, I'm quite uncertain about her as an actress, at this point, as you know. *is torn*

As for Oh Ji Ho...hmm, i tried to watch Get Karl, but that was almost as painful as pulling teeth, and Fantasy Couple was almost as bad. The man is one good-looking dude, but has the charisma of a frozen turkey. Total bummer!

The version of Daemang I've seen (from Arirang TV) is hardsubbed, no soft subs available as far as I can tell. Yeah, JH is more of the very adorable kind in Daemang than hot. *g* But then I like 'em that way too. He's good in the part, imho.

I really really doubt that Oh Ji Ho will be the love interest, but the description is making it sound like he is (when does heroine EVER end up with first love?? Usually they come back and tries to woo her but she's already fallen for new guy! But the fact that Jang Hyuk DOES play a slave owner makes gives him a fighting chance; more angst potential)

BUT

Oh Ji Ho HAS been in a few dramas lately (more than Jang Hyuk, if I remember correctly) HOWEVER AS HOT AS THE MAN IS (and I won't deny his hotness), I feel NOTHING when I see him on screen. . .NOTHING. Fantasy Couple was enjoyable but was saved by Han Ye Seul, who kind of carried the drama. I started the first episode of Get Karl blah blah and was bored to tears.

SO I REALLY HOPE IT'S JANG HYUK DAMMIT I REALLY DO.

They do end up with first loves when they had a traaaaaagic interrupted romance a la Winter Sonata but yeah - I too fear OJH will be the romantic lead. In which case, I hope LDH can carry them both in those scenes because OJH is one gorgeous gorgeous piece of cardboard.

Oh well, I'll start to prepare myself for it. Hmmm, maybe this drama will be just what I'm looking for, where they do a surprise OTP switch in the end. At this point, I have no clue who is even billed first (which usually tips me off as to the OTP) as both JH and OJH, I guess, are equally leading men.
