Am on episode 22 of Brilliant Legacy

*am not sure what I love more - the scene with the blanket or when Hwan extends his hand to catch drips in a cave so Eun Sung won't get wet - what I really love about Hwan is that he is incredibly straightforward - he doesn't play games and he has no 'shame' - he is in love with Eun Sung and he doesn't care if Other Girl and Other Guy know it.

* Speaking of other guys, poor Jun Se oppa - I find him dead boring, but he is a nice guy. Awwww. ETA: I take it back. Fuck off and die, jerk! You are trying to be manipulative and guilt Eun Sung into not dating Hwan? Fine. But anyone who has the gall to tell Eun Sung she shouldn't date Hwan because of Seung Mi's love for Hwan while knowing the way Seung Mi treated Eun Sung and wrecked her life is not only insane but should die in a ditch. Preferably after contracting leprosy. How Jun Se can even dare say out loud that Eun Sung owes Seung Mi anything? Hell, if I were Eun Sung, I'd date Hwan even if I didn't like him just to pay Seung Mi back some small percentage of misery she and her Monster Mom inflicted on me. The only thing Eun Sung owes Seung Mi is a bunch of hard slaps and Jun Se trying to pretend otherwise for his own selfish reasons is SICK. I don't care if he told Eun Sung she shouldn't date Hwan because she owes Jun Se himself too much and it would hurt him or even because of family issues (her missing brother, the fact that Hwan's family hates her etc) but he is trying to come across as unselfish and in the process the justification he is trying to use is inexcusable. *puke*

* Ahhhh, Seung Mi. UGH BITCH. (The glee of viikii commenters in anything bad that happens to her is hilariously delicious). Actually, the drop scene is better than the blanket scene for me because Seung Mi is there to see it. HEEEE. In your face! I want Hwan and Eun Sung to make out and send you the video which you would be forced to watch. In jail. The funny thing is, I don't hate any of her OTP-interloper stuff, I hate the way she wrecked Eun Sung's life - keeping her father away from her, not returning her money, wrecking her new-found place in a new family, etc. I would be happy with anything that hurt her - and her weak point is Hwan. I would love her face to be ground into the OTP not because she should be punished for loving Hwan or because she interferes with Hwan/Eun Sung (she doesn't, really) but because she needs to be punished in some way for the damage she has inflicted on Eun Sung through selfishness and maliciousness.

* THE KISS. It was the most gorgeous first kiss I have seen in a kdrama since...Spring Waltz, also starring Han Hyo Joo (she is awesome!) I am not sure what I loved more - the dreamlike atmosphere, what Hwan told her right before, or the fact that it was on a rickety, unstable bridge which is totally symbolic for how the ground has shifted under their feet utterly, emotionally.

* Lee Seung Gi is much too young and doesn't look at all like my type normally, either (there are no chiseled features in evidence) but he acts Hwan so well and the character of Hwan is so amazing that somehow I realized I find him ridiculously sexy as the eps progress - in each ep he is better-looking than the previous one and now I find him completely gorgeously irresistable even if objectively I realize he isn't.

I have also started Eyes of Dawn - I think I will have to devote of block of time to it as it does not look like anything you can watch casually. Also, sort of need to prepare myself - the heroine gets brutally raped in the first 10 minutes! I knew it was about comfort women but I guess I thought they would ease into the brutal parts of the storyline - they did not.

I'm not a big fan of Jun Se. In a way, I do think that Hwan should just lay everything out on the table with Sung Mi, but I think Jun Se saying so was more out of self-interest than anything else. It pisses me off that he tries to act like he believes in all this crap just because he thinks that it is the right thing to do when obviously he just wants Hwan out of the way so that he can have Eun Sung for himself.

I agree about Sung Mi. She and her mother ave probably become #1 and #2 on my Characters I Would Gladly Stab list. I think I hate Sung Mi even more than her mom though.

n each ep he is better-looking than the previous one and now I find him completely gorgeously irresistable even if objectively I realize he isn't.

WORD.

I hate Seung Mi more than her mother too - her Mother doesn't pretend to herself that she is good but Seung Mi goes around feeling wronged even though she is just as evil - she is evil AND whiny, a killer combo. When she was running around weeping oppa in the morning I was loving it and when she was watching Hwan shield Eun Sung from a rare drop on the head while she herself was being dripped on constantly? I was loling and wanting to lead a cheer.

I would have no problem with Jun Se if he told Hwan he (Jun Se) loves Eun Sung and is better for her so back off but passive-aggressive is never my thing.

I don't know how Seung Mi could ever see herself as being better than her mother. I mean that whole thing she did, pretending to be Eun Sung on the computer and talking with the dad? That's just cruel.

Somehow I knew you would find Junse boring. LOL. Any annoying after that scene.

I thought the same thing about the bridge and then I had to ask, do directors know the symbolism when the film it or did they just think it was pretty there.

LOL. Totally ditto on Hwan.

It's funny, I thought Hwan was so uncute at the start but I now just swoon - I even love the hair. It's Domyouji all over again, for me.

Junse is being emotionally dishonest in order to manipulate someone who trusts him so yeah - not keen on him.

Couldn't agree more. I mean, I find Jun Se one of the most unattractive second leads ever as far as wanting Eun-seung to get with him goes, but I at least had sympathy for him as a nice guy getting his heart broken up until this point. And I remember earlier in the drama when Hye Jin or whatever her friend's name is told Eun-seung that she still needed to consider Seung-mi's feelings for Hwan because after all they're still sisters, and I practically choked. REally?? First of all, they're stepsisters, second of all, she's not actually with Hwan, and third of all, not only did she herself disown the relationship, but she has done everything in her power to wreck Eun-seung's life as completely as possible. Consider her feelings, indeed! If I were Eun-seung, I'd grab him and throw in some hot kisses right in front of Seung-mi. God, she annoys me so much.

oh, and where'd you find Eyes of Dawn. It sounds interesting so I just did a search for it and can't find it anywhere.

Yeah, I could not believe the friend thought Eun Sung owed Miss Witch anything - I wonder if it's because she likes Jun Se (as a person) and is pushing his cause? Because I cannot see how anyone could say Eun Sung owes Seung Mi anything unless they are insane.

I bought EoD online. Let me know if you want the link and I will pm you.

UGH. I wrote out this whole thing defending Jun Se and then halfway through it realized you were right. Jun Se is being manipulative.

Damn. Don't get me wrong, I still like Jun Se and I liked that he forced Hwan to look at what he was doing (the conversation by the car in last episode) but yeah. Manipulative. I don't think he's as bad as some other secondary males out there (ugh, there are some really bad ones) and I think 50% of him wants the best for Eun Sung, it's just that he thinks HE'S the best. That said, I think he'll bow out gracefully in the end. He could have been much jerkier than he was.

Quiet manipulation. Man, that'll get you.

I like Jun Se fine and I don't blame him for trying to hold on to the girl he loves - I don't even mind his comment to Hwan about Seung Mi (though after finding out what she is like, why he wants Hwan, who he presumably likes OK, to be with her, is bizarre, rivalry or not. He wants Hwan to be son-in-law of Stepmonster just so Jun Se's love life would be smooth). But I did loathe his comment about Seung Mi to Eun Sung - no way. I would not blame him for any other kind of manipulativeness even but the gall of telling Eun Sung to be nice to Seung Mi?????? WTF! I'd think badly of him even if he did not have an ulterior motive but since he does - buhbye my liking for him.

Remember that scene with evil stepmom and Eun Sung where Eun Sung said that that much insurance money is what stepmom deserves and she declared that will not let Hwan and Seung Mi be together? I love, love, love it!
