Indeed.

I adore Bollywood movies, as most of you know. However, I have ventured into South Indian movies (Tamil, Telugu, Malayam, Kannada etc) very rarely. In fact, I think I have only seen 4: Bombay (which was dubbed into Hindi and starred Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala); Kandukondain Kandukondain (starring now Bollywood mainstays Aishwaria Rai and Tabu); Dumm Dumm Dumm, and Nuvvostante Nenoddantana.

Honestly speaking, I had no interest in watching more, even though I liked Bombay, DDD, and NN and didn't mind KK. Bollywood kept me fully occupied when I craved an Indian movie fix but also - let's be honest here, I am shallow. I want my movies to have hot men. And with the exception of rather appealing Madhavan in DDD, the Southie actors in the other three movies, not to mention random pictures I have seen of them around were anything but hot by my standards - beefy if one is being kind (and rotund if not), with a bushy mustache and a week's-worth of stubble on their chin, and not ever able to see forty again were all not my bag.

But clearly, while I am sure there are plenty of Southie male stars who look like retired gym teachers, I have been looking in the wrong places and there are apparently hot guys in other Indian movie industries beside Bollywood!

Allu Arjun. Mmm.

Prabhas:

Madhavan (I loved him in DDD but even more so in Guru - the proposal/kissing in the rain scene with Vidya Balan broke my heart).

Vikram:

Dhanush:

So, any recommendations for Southie movies starring Allu Arjun, Madhavan, Vikram, Prabhas, Dhanush or other hot guys? I don't care which genre they are in, but they have to have English subs and be relatively easy to find.

In other news, somebody found and posted this spoilery pic from the set of My Name is Khan, starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol.

Ah, you're finally coming over to the dark side! :-D

Allu Arjun: Happy, Desamuduru, Aarya

Prabhas: Pournami, Chatrapathi, Bujjigadu (you might have a harder time finding this one but if you can it's worth it (for hotness, not so much because it's a great movie)), Varsham

Vikram: Dhool and Anniyan are the only ones of his I've really liked

You didn't list him, but I love Mahesh Babu. Pokiri is probably his best movie, but I also liked Athadu, Athidhi, Sainikudu, and Okkadu.

Thank you for the recs!

Mmmm, look what I found for Dasamuduru!

Nope, I think I saw a pic of Surya and liked him but not sure who the other two are...

*googles*

Bharath is not really my thing (it's the hair) but Arya -- let's just say I wouldn't mind seeing a movie with him.

I knew I was forgetting someone! If you want to see Surya watch Kaakha Kaakha. It's one of my all-time favorite movies, and he and Jyothika have amazing chemistry.

EEEE! I'm so happy!! Have you seen Siddharth?

http://bollywoodfoodclub.wordpress.com/2008/07/04/bommarillu-2006-genelia-dsouza-sometimes-i-sneak-over-to-tollywood/

He's kind of boyish but I think he'll be super-handsome when as he gets into his early 30s. (He's about our age.)

Also, I just watched New York and they had AWESOME trailers!! Kaminey looks so fab! Shahid running topless with some horses!

Shahid! For someone with such an unsexy first name ("Martyr?" Really?), he is quite quite appealing.

I've seen Sid in NN and he is cute but way too boyish for me (or at least was in NN). I want to give him milk and cookies :)

I think he's going to be like Shahid and kind of age into good (rather than cute) looks. :)

Well, 'Shahid' means 'witness' which can mean marrtyr, but I think mainly means witness. Like in the declaration of faith [shahada].

By which I mean: I need to start watching Southie films!

Oh, witness makes more sense (I would not want to call a kid of mine martyr - talk about profesying a sticky end for the kid - it's worse than naming someone Chastity).

I wish I liked Allu Arjun as an actor but after two films of his, I have to conclude I simply don't. He is easy on the eyes, though (I've seen Bunny & Happy - I just find his style too hyper).

I looooove Vikram, though. omg. He is in my 3 of Indian actors. Tamil masala can be a little too violent, a little too cheesy but I'd recommend; Dhool, Anniyan, and for something VERY different, Pithamagan.

Madhavan .. Alaipayuthe (Tamil original version of Saathiya)! And .. god I'm struggling to come up with anything else you might like. Other films I've seen of him have been just okay. Oh, Kannathil Muthamittal is a nice Mani Ratnam film.

hehehe-not too spoilery, I already knew they got married - it's in the synopsis on IMDB:)

Mmm, I don't mind the look of Prabhas or Dhanush at all...

You should watch Rajnikanth's movies. They are the best things ever! He'll be standing on the sidewalk while the villain is doing villainous things on like the 200th floor. So to stop him, he stabs the villain by throwing his knife up FROM THE SIDEWALK! And while the knife is soaring up, he saves a bus full of disabled children and old people, cures cancer, busts a move and saves the earth from a nuclear explosion! After all that his hair is still perfectly coiffed!

But sadly, he does all this while being seriously uncute :)

My mom and I were convinced he was the hero's father or uncle. I love his antics though. They are so ridiculous.
