dangermousie is having a bad time with actors she likes. First Joo Ji Hoon, now this!
Yup, Bollywood star Shiney Ahuja, leading man of such movies as "Gangster," "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi," "Woh Lamhe," and "Life...in a Metro" has been accused of rape of his 19-year-old maid. That in itself is bad enough, but if that was all, there could have been a possibility he didn't do it, or sex was consensual etc etc. HOWEVER. 1. Medical tests confirmed sexual assault and 2. Shiney himself has confessed.
Did I mention that the lovely man in question is married with a small baby and took advantage of his family being out?
UGH.
UGH.
There is not enough UGH in the world.
Unlike with Joo Ji Hoon (who just did some drugs, presumably harming nobody but himself, thus I really really am upset about the jail centence), I really really hope Shiney goes to jail for a good long while. I still think he is a good actor and my enjoyment of his role in e.g. Gangster is not marred by the fact that he is a disgusting human being in real life, but my separation of actor and man merely means that while I don't plan to throw away my DVDs or anything (or can even swoon over his character in Metro), I hope the man himself rots in prison for a very very long time. LOOOOONG TIME.
I. Medical tests confirm sexual assault
Preliminary medical tests have confirmed that Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja's 18-year-old domestic help was raped, Shiney Ahuja was arrested Sunday night (June 14-15) for allegedly raping and threatening to kill his domestic help and police had been waiting for medical test results from both the alleged victim and the accused to come out, The actor's 18 year-old maid lodged an FIR with Mumbai's Oshiwara police last night according to which the actor gagged and raped her while they were alone in his house on Sunday (June 14) in the absence of his wife and child.
Earlier police said Shiney was booked under Section 376 for rape, but later the charge of threatening to kill – IPC Sec 506 - was added, police said.
The actor, who is known for his roles films like ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ and ‘Gangster’, was due to be taken into court later today. Heavy police presence is expected outside court since the incident has generated a lot of media and public curiosity.
Sources say Ahuja’s wife and child, who were not at home when the alleged crime occurred, are back in Mumbai but his wife has been unavailable for comment so far.
As a first reaction from the film industry, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has expressed shock at the incident, saying if the charges are proved the actor should be condemned and boycotted by the entire industry.
Implications
Under Section 376 a rape convict shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than seven years. The accused could also be punished for life or for a term which may extend to ten years. The accused may also be liable to fine unless the woman raped is his own wife and is not under twelve years of age.
Shiney Ahuja in 2004 made his acting debut with the critically acclaimed ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’, then in 2005 he acted in a film called ‘Karam’. He then shot to popularity for his title role in Mahesh Bhatt's ‘Gangster’ in 2006 , following it up with ‘Woh Lamhe’ in 2006 and ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ in 2008.

II. Mumbai Police: Shiney admits to rape
A senior Mumbai [ Images ] police officer claims actor Shiney Ahuja [ Images ] has admitted to raping his domestic help.
"There was no consent in the sex," Assistant Commissioner of Police Dilip Suryavanshi told rediff.com
"It was forceful. Shiney threatened her that if she shouts, he will beat her up. He has admitted his guilt."
The actor, the police claim, confessed and broke down during interrogation.
Ahuja was taken to court on Monday afternoon, his face covered with a black cloth.
According to the police version, Shiney's wife and infant daughter were not at home on Sunday afternoon. The actor was home alone with the maid, and that is when he allegedly raped her.
The police say the maid complained to her relatives in the evening, who lodged a complaint against Ahuja at the Oshiwara police station in northwest Mumbai.
"We have registered three cases, Section 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 376 (rape) against him," ACP Suryavanshi added.
If convicted of the crimes he is accused of, the actor can face up to 10 years in prison.
The victim is an 18-year old resident of Vasai, a township close to Mumbai. She has been working at Ahuja's home for the last 45 days. She has now been moved to a government-run home in Chembur, northeast Mumbai.
Dale Bhagwagar, the actor's publicist, said in a statement that Ahuja was 'innocent until proven guilty.'
'We just need to give this a little more time until there is clarity about what really happened,' Bhagwagar said.
'I've known Shiney for almost four years now. He is a good human being and I will do all that is possible to help him.'

Yeah, with JJH, I feel bad - I think doing drugs is bad blah blah but I can't possibly get indignant about someone who does. But this? Is a whole other kettle of fish. I hope he rots in prison.
