ETA: Gibber gibber gibber gibber! I have just watched Black and White ep 19. let me get this straight! It is Ying Xiong who is the Mob Boss' son and Chen Lin's half-brother. !!!!!!!! OMGWTFOMG. And I think he and Zai Tian must be half-brothers by different fathers so YX is halfsibs with Chen Lin through Dad and Zai Tian through Mom so Chen Lin and Zai Tian are not related and can make out I presume. But OMGOMG

And now, onto Fashion 70s.

(Sorry, Dong Young, I still love you)

I have NEVER ever shipped an uncanonical ship (except for Boys Over Flowers kdrama but that was mainly because I hated the "official" ship) but heeeeeeeeelp! It has happened!

In Fashion 70s, I totally ship Duh Mi with Bin instead of with Dong Young, her OTP. NO! Noooooo!

And the thing is, I like Dong Young, quite a lot. I like him with Duh Mi (see my previous post about the hurt/comfort scene of awesomeness).

He is all sexy in his angsty spy emo

and is kind and has the most gorgeous eyes

and she is so forthright and cheerful

and has trauma in her past that dwarfs anything that has ever happened to him.

Bubbly girl/reserved guy is my fave thing ever, normally.

(Yes, they literally intercut this scene. They know what I love)

BUT! Bin! Is so playful and funny but with hidden edge and ISSUES because of his mother who had always viewed having him as a mistake.

And he used to crush on Duh Mi when they were kids (though neither knows it for long plotty reasons). And he is JUST SO BEYOND SEXY and allergic to shirts

and he and Duh Mi have this bickering back-and-forth going that is so DELICIOUS.

Not to mention that Dong Young left Duh Mi. He left her! Granted, it for excellent reasons as he's been recruited for a spy mission where he is likely to get killed and he doesn't want her to waste her life pining for him. So he didn't ask her to wait or anything but just left. And he thinks he hears her in a crowd

blah blah but BUT. When she is in trouble in Seoul, it's Bin who rescues her in such an AWESOME FASHION.

It doesn't help that this drama doesn't have a main hero/heroine and secondaries but literally four main characters. I CANNOT DEAL WITH UNCANONICAL SHIPPING but I want Duh Mi and Bin to be together and Dong Young can be repressed and emo and fondle his gun.

ME EVERYBODY WINS.

Silly fannish emo aside, this drama is definitely going into my Top 10. It has this ineffable something that the best dramas (and the best fictional worlds/stories) do - it gets me to see the characters and their world as something hyper-real. It feels a little like waking up to come back to real world once the episode ends. I love the characters so much I would gladly just watch hours of Duh Mi's joyful wandering in Seoul

Dong Young's "work" activities

Jun Hee's interactions with her father

or Bin's snarky avoidance of the police.

Not to mention any of them interacting.

Oh, and on a truly shallow note. I think the woman who plays Jun Hee is the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen in my life.

I also adore her character so very much - perhaps because she is the most damaged one, the tragic one.

I wonder if she loves Dong Young because it validates as her identity as Jun Hee - if someone who knew the real Jun Hee and knows she isn't her still finds her worthy of love, she is worthy and whole - it's helping her to keep her identity somewhat whole. Her "father" really did a number on her.

And also because he clearly doesn't care if she is Jun Hee or Koh Hee, his feeling for her (of friendship and compassion) would still be the same. When the love of her "father" is so conditional, it must be heaven to have someone whose feeling for you is unconditional.

God, SO GOOD!

And I end up on a 70s fashion note:

I started Fashion 70s, but had to stop because I was totally shipping Duh Mi and Bin so hard. And I was told it wasn't going to end that way. . .and, I just couldn't watch.

But, I love the actor that played Bin, Chun Jung Myung. It's a shame he hasn't done more things and that he hasn't had many main leads.

I love him too - he is so very intense and so very sexy. Mmmmm. He simply HAS to be in more things!

I was totally shipping Duh Mi and Bin so hard.

I can't bear it! The thing is, I like Ding Young and I like Duh Mi/Dong Young. But Bin/Duh Mi just does something funny to my insides every time they are on screen. I want it SO BAD.

I looked him up on dramawiki. He was the male lead in What's Up, Fox? and Goodbye Solo. Plus, he's done a few movies.

I'm with you in the coupling. I like Dong Young, but. . . Bin and Bin/Duh Mi are just so much more my style.

GS sounds like a weepie. Hmmm. But I am watching WUF for sure :)

Do watch it. It's a fun drama and it's not everyday that your female lead is a 33 year old virgin.

WUF isn't great but the male lead(whoever he was) is adorable and it's definitely fun and cute.

Yup. And, if I remember correctly she hasn't kissed either. Or not done much kissing at the start of the series. But, that doesn't make her a loser. She works for a man's magazine and actually writes the most, uh, mature stories. So much so that the other (two) employees think she's. . .you, a woman whose been around.

Oh YES. *pants*

It's funny because I could see any possible ship as potentially interesting in this drama - any combo. But I think I do like Bin/DM the most which is a porblem :)

This looks so good! I'm really gonna start this as soon as possible. I've only ever watched the guy who plays Bin in another drama, What's Up, Fox, where he plays a guy who's in love with his older sister's best friends.

OMG. I think you have just convinced me to watch WUF - I have such a ridiculous crush on him now. I think he is my favorite character.

I think I misspelled "friend". It's not plural.

But yes, WUF is adorable. He's like a freaking puppy in that show.

I laughed so hard at this one. If we're gonna have a half-sibling case, let's do a red herring first, squeeze all the angst we can from this one, and then move on to the real thing, with potential for ten times more angst! :D

But I do want to know what is up with Xi Ying! Not that ep 20 is going to explain what the hell she was doing earlier on, but... *refreshes viikii frantically*

I think it was her father's room/house but not sure how he knew about the organization - was he investigating them?

After watching episodes 19 and 20 of B&W, all I can say is OMG!!! Never saw that one coming! And what a reversal from the beginning!

However, there are still SO MANY mysteries to solve. I wonder how they will ever be able to wrap it all up in just four episodes!

Oh YES!!!I would not mind that kind of allergy...LOL!

BUT! Bin! Is so playful and funny but with hidden edge and ISSUES because of his mother who had always viewed having him as a mistake.

That is why I was love him so much...

Dong Young can be repressed and emo and fondle his gun.

Oh wouldn't we all love him fondling his gun!

LMAO!
