Mr. Mousie was watching it on TV today (he likes it a lot) and it looked really awesome. Reminded me a bit of GetBackers.

Bleach is quite good, but because it's so long there are a lot of filler episodes because the manga can't keep up with the anime. Lots of angst. The minor characters are actually quite well developed.

Yeah, Bleach is heaps of good fun, and you'll enjoy the angsty bits ;-). It's a full-on shounen and (IMHO) it's not quite in the league of, say, Trigun or Full Metal Panic (which I know you love, as do I), but it's still very enjoyable! And the character designs are very stylised and interesting.
ETA: and now that you've mentioned it, I realise that it is rather like GetBackers in a number of respects: the good old shounen battles and power-ups, the humour, and the character interactions. So you're almost sure to like it if you liked GetBackers. (Which I haven't watched in ages and really should pull out again. I used to enjoy it heaps!)

We love Bleach (my daughter and I ,that is). Filler arcs are bad but the arcs that follow manga seem to get better and better with time (and by better I mean more angst :D).

I'm fonder of Bleach than it really deserves (there's a belief that the mangaka might be better served switching careers and becoming a fashion designer, and that might have merit) but I suspect you'd start off liking it but eventually lose interest. I've only seen the first 18 episodes of the anime, which are good, but I'm told it starts with filler soon after that.

If you're looking at the manga as well, I'd say read that before you get into the anime. Also, the english dub for it is terrible, IMO, if you were leaning more towards that than subs.

I liked Bleach at first but then it started getting way to repetitive. I heard it got good again after the arc I got stuck in (probably like 25 episodes in) but I didn't feel like going through a 100 + episodes.

Ichigo is cute though. :)
