Firefly rewatch

In-between walking and playing with the baby, Mr. Mousie and I have been having a lovely Firefly marathon - we are up through Safe and continuing (I married a man who loves Firefly, Buffy, Farscape, and Futurama - clearly I picked wisely).

The scene of Simon jumping on the pyre the villagers are about to light under his sister because he cannot stop them and the only thing he can do is die with her, even if he himself would be in no danger otherwise and even if she doesn't even know what he is doing or what is happening, just so she won't be alone - that kills me, kills me, kills me.



It's official, on this rewatch Simon might be my favorite through his sheer selflessness. But I still adore Mal to bits and swoon for Mal/Inara. When he incoherently asks her not to take Atherton's offer to be his permanent companion...eeeee.

FAVORITE EPISODE. I'm all about the crazy space incest, so between "light it" and "everything I have is right here" I was in a twitching ball of glee the entire time.

I am not into crazy space incest at all for a variety of reasons but Simon's relationship with his sister is one of my favorite relationships in TV land - I guess the selflessness and codependence and just the intensity of it gets me.

Safe was one of my favorite episodes. I adore the relationship between Simon and River, it was so special. The line, "Light it." was just so touching and wonderful. And then her, "It's time to go." - because the ship was coming - :) River saves Simon in her own way. I loved their love for one another. Really, one of the sweetest relationships on tv ever.



Then, you have Mal/Inara which was the OTP of the show, for me anyway. They were so perfect for one another.

Oh Mal and Inara <3!!! Bacarrin still strikes me at one of the most pleasant woman to look at on this earth. There's something soft and yet very beautiful emaning from her and she did such a good job with Inara's character.

And I don't even start on Nathan Fillion because DUH the obvious ^^. I was shipping them so hard. Can't believe the huge tension every time they were on screen together.

You're making me want to rewatch Serenity too ne ^^.
