Ahhh, and now with date rape and attempted murder.

WHAT?

This is the plot of the currently airing and very successful kdrama Temptation of a Wife. I got curious what it was about and finally looked it up.

One night Goo Eun Jae (heroine) got drunk and Jung Gyo Bin took this opportunity to take advantage of her. Eun Jae and Gyo Bin got married but their marriage is not a very blissful marriage....Gyo Bin decided that he did not want to remain married to Eun Jae and tried to kill her. Eun Jae was presumed to have drowned...Months later, Eun Jae is back for revenge but she presumes the identity of another woman, Min So Hee, who had killed herself. How will Gyo Bin react to a girl who looks exactly like his presumed dead wife, Eun Jae? Will he be tempted by So Hee?

You have got to be kidding me. The only way this would be watchable if the bulk of the drama was her going Kill Bill on everyone but why do I get the sense that she and the lovely rapist/attempted murderer husband will get back together. WTF?????

I have NEVER seen a kdrama have something so repulsive. Even in East of Eden, where I had HUGE issues with that storyline, when they had one of the main characters rape another, it was portrayed as unforgivable and he spent years and years trying to atone. I still loathed the fact that in the end the woman decided she loved him, but at least there he really did work to be a better human being and tried to make her happy since (ha! dieanywaypigperson) and there was no attempted murder. This? AAAAARGH DIE

WTF?? is THAT what that drama is about? Holy....how can you even root for that pairing!? I mean I know girls seem to like jerky guys in dramas but...rapist...AND HE TRIED TO KILL HER? How do you explain that one? You cant even use fantasy to justify it like you would the rape, since I've heard people say online that many women have this kind of fantasy...which...eww. but w/e to each his own I guess. but who fantasizes about their lover MURDERING them? and what he tried to kill her to get rid of her and he's gonna fall in love with her again!? OMG LOGIC, THERE IS NONE.

From the series title I expected the plot to be something along the lines of; newly married woman meets a new man and begins to wonder if she settled instead of waiting for her 'true love'. Then cue rage fueled hubby trying to kill her.

EoE had all the ingredients to be a very good drama and well...we all know how it turned out. I will say this for the MH actor, anyone who can cry that often without me rolling my eyes is someone I'll keep track of and make a point of watching.

EoE gives me total feeling of potentially great drama wasted. And I am still mad at what happened to Dong Chul.

Yeah, I liked MH's actor a lot, even if I loathed the character - the guy was crazy intense.

serious? *laughs hysterically*

Gyo Bin decided that he did not want to remain married to Eun Jae and tried to kill her

Because, you know, that's how you end an unsuccessful marriage.

Apparently. All his weeping finally did her in, I think - she's had years of it, the poor woman. I think he might have also gone to jail for her? Maybe?

I stopped watching the drama by that point because it ceased being good 25 or so eps back - I was watching solely for Grace and Dong Chul at that point and there wasn't enough of them. So the 'I love you after all' thing was what people on soompi said - haven't seen it for myself. And now they, Dong Wook, Grace, Miner Mama, the other Mama (and presumably her daughter and son-in-law) are all going to live together like one big happy family while Dong Chul smiles from heaven or similar. *gag* It's like the screenwriter, like the BOF one, lost her mind halfway through the series - it was good up through ep 24? 26? and then went bad, though nowhere near as bad as BOF. (Don't even get me started on the character assassination job they did on Dong Wook, the rights activist brother)

Though that would be some interesting cohabitation - I bet $20 she would so cuckold emorapeface with Dong Wook.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they did get divorced. And Eunjae was living on a teensy island trying to forget it all when they (the ex-husband and his manipulating new wife who used to be her best friend) tried to kill her off because she refused to have her and her ex-husband's unborn child aborted. They pushed her off the boat and thought she drowned when really this random dude saved her thinking it was his sister. And then she assumed the identity of said sister of said random dude (who coincidentally tried to drowned herself on the same exact time and place as her ex tried to kill her because of her brother who she had this weird incestuous and obviously forbidden infatuation with was getting married), planning to get revenge for her miscarried fetus baby. And then obviously she makes the ex-husband fall for her and breaks the news to him later in a huge angry vortex of angst and resent. (Oh, and apparently, sticking a mole on your face and getting a haircut makes you completely unrecognizable).

Yes, that was really long, and no, I've never watched the show for fear of the mindless drivel I know it contains, but all the old Korean ladies rant on and on about it so much it's hard not to know every single thing that's happening...

I watched it just a bit in the beginning but the level of ridiculousness and bulging eyes got on my nerves. It was a prime example over-the-top kdrama. Even Koreans were stupefied. But stupefied enough to keep watching it.
