They are so very ridiculously pretty together, it's unreal!







I am watching the French movie Christine with Alain Delon and Romy Schneider. It's a fluffy tragic romance - yes, if you watch the flick, the oxymoron makes sense. But who cares about the plot - I just space out staring at the genetic perfection.

Love the movie. Though I still think that it sucks in any language other than German ;) [yes, I know French is the original; but it just feels wrong hearing Romy without her accent when she is playing those type of roles]

BTW, you do know the backstory about how this is the movie where the two met in real life? I think I read somewhere that she even handselected him for the role because at that time he was still a newbie and she was already a well known actress because of the Sissi movies (which you should totally watch even just for the pretty costumes).

Yeah, I read they became a rl couple for a while after this movie. It's a total crime they didn't produce any children though - pretty genes need to be spread :)

They did a retrospective on the anniversary of her death a while ago and he even spoke about her. Very touching.

It's such a fun fluffy fairytale (with a gruesome ending. Just how I like it). Objectively, I find the two main characters such idiots - yeah, go fight a duel over some woman you no longer care about when you have a happy OTP. Or even better, jump off a balcony because your bf is dead - it's not as if you never meet someone else and it's not as if you've been together for years. But in the movie, it becomes rather sweet.

What can I say, I have a soft spot for fatalistic stupid people ;) What can I say, I grew up with that kind of stuff (in movies, I mean, not in real life). But yes, the whole movie should run under the headline "Don't try this at home!". :D

Romy Schneider loathed these kind of bitter-sweet roles (esp. the Sissi movies), but with Christine she got into the French movie circle and became one hell of an actress with very controversial roles. Too bad she died so young.
Alain Delon happened to be guest on Bistro SMAP last year and even though he is in his 70's now and you can see he has lived a fast and sinning life ;-) he still exudes a male beauty that is rare in a lot of men. During Bistro SMAP he kept takling about the art of acting and how it changed and also saved his life (and hooked him up with the most beautiful ppl both male and female). Kimura and Shingo gobbled up his words about acting. It was very interesting to watch (not only for the interaction) as I learnt more about acting from Delon just talking about acting in general and his work in particular, than any ep of Actor's Studio.

I can see why she hated them, if you look at some of those movies from her German period, it's like they tried to make the same successfull movie over and over again. It even reminds me a bit of BW movies because they even paired her with the same people in different roles.

I remember when I saw her in the Sissi movies when I was little (around 11 I think)and became completely enchanted of her beauty!
But I haven't seen this movie (and yes, they look gorgeous together)...
