I was bored and put in "Chuck Blair" into youtube (I've seen exactly on ep of Gossip Girl - the atrocious Pilot but I absorbed things about GG via flist osmosis) and got this gem:

This is so trashy I cannot resist even though I have a strong feeling I'll join the communist party if I watch more than 20 minutes of this show about upper-class twits! Maybe they'll get drunk and accidentaslly join the military?

But I am surprised Chuck and Blair are a ship - from the Pilot I was sure Chuck and his best friend Nate had a steamy gay love affair. Oh well...I am sure that's in their future!

In the books Chuck is bisexual and gets sent to military school. Unfortunately neither of those things are part of the show.

GG makes me want to go all French Revolution on their asses, yet somehow the worse Chuck and Blair behave, the more I like them.

Apparently, in the books Chuck also has a pet monkey. I feel that the show's writers are really missing the boat with this.

Gossip Girl was enjoyable trash during its first season. Now it's mostly just trash.

Chuck/Blair were the alternaship that unintentionally became the big OTP of the show. So now they get jerked around in every episode and it is very exhausting and the opposite of fun.

I'm a couple of episodes from giving it up.

I don't watch GG I think after bad ratings of s1 ITV didn't bother buying the rights or if they did it's been banished to the blackhole that is ITV2 but that first clip came across as very Roswell Micheal and Maria.

Gossip Girl is completely ridiculous and may drive you insane, but I enjoy it. I haven't seen it since the beginning of the season since my antenna stopped picking up the CW.

Chuck and Blair are both kind of awful people, but I enjoy the characters. The majority of the cast drives me up a wall, but I find myself missing it for whatever reason.

Hee. I've only seen about 10 minutes of Gossip Girl, when I accidentally left on the tv when it was on after a show I was watching, and Chuck Bass was talking and talknig and I thought THIS is the guy that everyone is swooning over? I will admit that he looks slightly cuter in the first clip, but overall he seems like a little doof.

I totally love it. Chuck and Blair accidentally became the ridiculously amazing OTP because, unlike a traditional OTP, they bring put the absolute worst in each other, are completely the same person, obsessed with destroying each other because they care and that's just what you do, and both are so unapologetically evil and manipulative, that you end up really really happy they aren't subjecting themselves on others. My theory is that they were not at all supposed to be the big OTP, but all the other characters were just so boring that they just became popular due to the evilness. I totally love it

ONTD is evil and last year it was saturated with Gossip Girl (thankfully, not as much anymore) so I was peer-pressur'd into watching it and was so utterly bored by it.

Normally I like watching ultra rich people because I like the fashion, clothes and everything but it was so mindless and their problems were just so STOOPID that I could not get into it. I think my problem was that I had no reason to care about any of the characters. They were all just "meh" to me.

(But the fashion is fun. I like looking at the stills just to see some of their crazy get-ups)

that first scene, put into context is ridiculously powerful. It's one of the better scenes of season 2(which has been utter trash lately )

Season 1 was actually decent lol although yes the pilot wasn't as good as some of the following episodes =]

But yess I watch for the fashion and pretty much because I'm bored and what's more interesting then messed up, privileged pretty people? :D

Honestly, I'm entertained by GG on similar levels to how I'm bored by all the angsty "Woes! Family demands and responsibility are in the way of true love!" in most kdramas and shoujo equivalents. I think because, if I'm watching the angsty rich people, I'd rather have them be the self-centered, spoiled brats theey'd be in RL. (Both versions are really pure fantasy, it's just a fantasy preference, I suppose.)
