Just watched the Planet of the Dead special of Doctor Who.

Meh.

A pity, but meh. Even more meh than last year's Xmas Titanic special.

Christina was the first companion/potential companion I wanted to smack. The only way she could be more of a Mary Sue was if she had purple hair and lavender eyes.

Did make me want to reread Harry Potter though. I had a reread sometime ago and stopped in the middle of Book 5. Time to continue...

I actually liked it better than the last Christmas special, but still not as fabulous as some of the episodes

Yeah. I wanted to kick her too. The vent dropping skills were particularly annoying. I was sorry that the Doctor didn't let the cops get her.

LOL, when the BOYFRIEND and I saw the trailer for it, we took one look and went 'eh... what's an EastEnder doing here!?' Christina is off of BBC1 soap called EastEnders, a soap no one should ever watch, unless they are suicidal, then they would realise that actually, their life isn't that bad compared to the blimmin eastenders!

We had a conversation about this last week at 3 in the morning... and we concluded that we have gone off Dr Who, the BBC's obsession with getting younger viewers is annoying, and anyway, we are still traumatised by the new doctor!!!

Also, i will probably get killed for saying this, but i can't stand harry potter! i've seen all the movies (quite enjoyable really, i just have to restrain the urge to throw things at the screen whenever Harry does/says something stupid), read the books up to the phoenix one, and then, just had to stop before any more of Harry's hand-wringing and wetness sent me raving mad! :) ron, all on his own, makes it bearable!

I enjoyed it, probably more for that fact that it was a new DW episode and not really on its own merits. It was kind of just a mediocre episode, but I've been jonesing for some new Who recently.

I liked Christina up to a point. I appreciated that she was a take charge kind of girl, but then they just kind of pushed her over the edge of likability. Ah well.

Couldn't agree more about Christina, I think we're supposed to cheer when the Doctor helps her escape the prison sentence she so rightly deserves but I'm not sure why.

You know I think I'm the only person in who fandom who didnt hate christina XD Not that I blame anyone really, she was totally ridiculous and flat as a character. The whole plot was really just fluff, loud shiny fluff you watch for fun. I like it about the same as the titanic plot, which is to say i just found it ok. since it's less melodramatic but the titanic plot had more gravitas and will probably stick in my mind more. It's a shame one of the last four who episodes involving ten had to be so forgettable but hopefully they'll make up for it with the final 3 episodes.
