I feel like a Peach Girl rewatch...

Anybody else a fan of the delightful Peach Girl anime? I saw it a few years back (just click on the tag) and adored it - it's a funny, fluffy (and occasionally angsty) shoujo tale with a kickass heroine and one of my favorite anime guys.



PG centers around Momo, a high school girl often mistaken for a slut because she happens to have hair that easily bleaches by the sun and skin that tans easily and thus looks like the way those girls tend to look (only they spend money on tanning salons and hair bleach). Momo is a physically active and capable girl, an excellent swimmer, but she's been suppressing her abilities because she wants to appeal to Touji, her good-looking long-term crush. And she might just get him if her "friend" Sae, in reality a manipulative girl who delights in taking away whatever Momo has, doesn't get in the way. And then there is Kairi, the popular and flirtatious senior. When Sae asks Momo who she likes, Momo, who desperately doesn't want to reveal the truth to Sae because she knows where it would lead, points at Kairi at random...

I confess the main reason I love it so is because the heroine ends up with someone who I was sure would end up being her best platonic male friend who ends up picking up the pieces every time things go haywire with her bf, while liking her and never getting it reciprocated. But it wasn't the case!















Someone should make a good drama of it, and not the awful twdrama that that made 5 or so years ago, either.

I keep wanting to watch this! I should... soon. Because OMG the heroine ends up with the best male friend! SO AWESOME! I loved Cat Street for the same reason.

ahhh! you're making me want to do a rewatch on this. i must admit, when i first found this anime a couple years back, i watched it like i was possessed. i think i finished it all in a 2 days. if it weren't for work, i would have finished it in one day!

your reason for loving it is the same reason i love it. for the LOONGEST time i was so sure she was going to end up with Touji, no matter how much i loved Kairi more.

and Sae, i despised. for so long. even though she (kind of) redeems herself at the end, i can't shake the sketchy feeling i get from her.

have you ever read the peach girl manga? and i can't remember whether you've mentioned watching the drama? while the manga i don't mimd, the drama was.... terrible =S i want them to redo. it can be done SOOO much better now.

I have never warmed up to Sae - hello sociopath! She and Kairi's brother weremy dark ship - I thought they should stick together and play games on each other alll day long.

The twdrama - shudder. It was horrid.

I liked it for the same main reason. I watched the first few episodes and the last few. It was fun and easy but not too exciting. Kairi is awesome though, the whole trope of best friend secretly in love thrills me always!

Ooh, I LOVE Peach Girl (I even watched most of the TW-drama, though they hadn't finished subbing it when I started watching it). It's one of my favorite mangas--I was thrilled when they decided to turn it into an anime.

I remember this is one of those rare dramas where I thought I was rooting for the couple that was doomed for failure(Momo/Kairi). I felt like such a rebel--I always root for *canon couples*, so this was new to me. Imagine my surprise and glee when they actually turned out to be the main couple!! ^_^

Woot!! I super love Peach Girl the manga - reread it countless times!! But I didn't know there is an anime !!! Must go watch it fast ! Where is the best place to watch (with eng subs)?

I was also a supporter of Momo/Kairi. Love, love, love Kairi! I know this is meant to be shojo and teenage love and love, but there's so much maturity in the way the mangaka wrote the relationship development.

Agree - someone should make a live drama of Peach Girl again. I did not really watch the TW version cuz from the pix I saw, the main actors don't seem to suit the characters.

You know who I would love to play Kairi? ZAIZAI !! Esp with his current amazing acting, being able to be both cheeky/naughty/ flirty and broody/ angsty at the same time, he will be the perfect Kairi. Except maybe he is a little too old now (at 27 years) though he still look pretty young.

As for Momo .....hmmmmm, not really sure. Not as many good spunky, tanned actress that I am aware of. And Touji can probably played by a number of actors cuz I don't find his character that outstanding (no offense to his fans).

Hehehe! Long post. Got carried away. I think I'll go read Peach Girl manga again (on top of the Mars manga I am rereading for XXX times).

The twdrama version was hideous - they so should remake. And I don'tlike Touji either - boooooring. And not too bright :)

I'm more for the twdrama, and really didn't like the anime- or the manga for the fact. Sure by the drama they begin slow, and there are stuff, that I could live without, but much more better then the anime.
There Momo just seems like just the girl everyone is talking about. Ah, he is nice to me, so I'll go with him... now he is nice, then with him, back and forth... >_< By the drama I didn't feel that. But that's just me. ^^"
