dangermousieYes. I have completed my descent: I have watched an episode of a Korean variety show, We Got Married.
Blame Kim Hyun Joong (currently playing Ji Hoo in Boys Over Flowers and the leader of the pop band SS501) and my growingfixation interest in him.
WGM has a uniquely Korean set-up. I cannot imagine a US show like that at all. It takes a number of (single) male and female celebrities, matches them at random and has them 'pretend' to be a married couple - i.e. do things married couples normally do - go grocery shopping, go on trips, decorate a house etc. Sort of playact at marriage but in their real personas. Gladdening many a RPShipper's heart in the process, I am sure.
The reason I watched it? Kim Hyun Joong appeared on the show for a number of episodes (the couples keep coming and being replaced) 'starring' opposing Hwangbo, another musician.
I watched one ep so far (or at least only KHJ parts - not interested in the other 'couples'). Heee. HEEEEE. LOL. It's guaranteed to make you LOL and cheer you up (I was rather down yesterday). Also, now I can see why he was cast as Ji Hoo. I wondered about that. True, he is gorgeous, but so are a lot of Korean actors. But now I see - it's pretty close to his real-life personality (or at least the way he comes across in the media, as who knows what his true personality is like). Such an oddball! My favorite moment? They go on a 'romantic' fishing trip and he lugs a whole bunch of manhwa with him because it might get boring. Methinks I found a soulmate - I always have a book with me just in case :)

When asked by Hwangbo how old does he think she is? (She is 6 years older). Ahahahahahaa!
This was my favorite. I loled so hard I think I almost woke the baby.
So? My verdict? Not something I will marathon or anything, but I do plan slowly but steadily to watch all of KHJ eps. Yeah, I am hopeless. Sorry! It's funny - he doesn't really send my hormones into overdrive, the way Lee Min Ho can doam going to hell, but I do adore him - more in an eccentric/amusing/pretty/adorable/funny younger brother way.

Date: 2009-02-19 04:30 pm (UTC)Yup, funny little bro or a friend. He's adorably goofy in WGM and in the SS501 clips I've seen. He has this way of quirping out these odd oneliners that make me giggle. Though you do see him changing as the episodes of WGM go on. Become more relaxed and open up in a way. Apparently he's not comfortable with people he does not know. Towards the end of the WGM run, before the filming of BoF starts he agonises over having to be around actors. He's such an odd one! And a rather endearing mixture of boy and adult.
Oh, the manhwa go along everywher, LOL.
