Watched two more Roswell eps. It's basically Buffy without the sharp writing. I miss that. Also, need more angst, dammit. The googly angst is nice, but how about Max being dragged away screaming from Liz's arms (heck how about him getting into her arms in the first place?) But yeah, I like it.
My summary of the two eps follows.
Max: wakes up in the middle of the night for plot reasons. Dangermousie is beyond caring, however, because she is too busy ogling his sexy muscular alien arms. Apparently those aliens really hit the gym.
Liz and Max: We shall stare soulfully into each other's eyes. Nothing makes the heart grow fonder then shared paranoia of the government.
They continue to do so in the hall, during chemistry class, while waiting to Maria to betray them all etc etc. Their eyes get a good work out.Now shove your tongue down her throat, come on!
Michael: My life sucks. I live with a neglectful foster father and my future girlfriend isn't as cute as Max's. Also, my hair sticks straight up. Being a sidekick sucks.
Dangermousie: (avidly) Does he beat you maybe? Come on, I need more angst than stolen glances of two mututally attractive teens, here.
Michael: I don't think so. But he wears yucky underwear.
Dangermousie: *sigh*
Isabel: Am slutty, snooty bitch. Clearly the boys got all the nice alien genes.
Darla from Angel, Sheriff and other grown-ups: Hi! We are here to advance the plot. We'd go into more detail, but we know you are really here to watch the Max/Liz googly eyes fest, so why bother?
Liz and Max: spy on something or other in eraser room. There's chemistry. And yearning. It's not screaming angst, but it will do for now.
Dangermousie: I am torn between "awwww," and "at this speed, they won't even be kissing till second season." Pounce on her, dammit!
Liz: Ponders alien cooties. In "how to get some on me" sense.
Max: Makes a joke.
Dangermousie: *falls off sofa in surprise*well, I actually like the fact that he is a quiet gentle guy who only occasionally makes jokes, but this is not a comment to make in snark-land
Darla as Guidance Councillor: Liz, you like being in control?
Liz: Yes indeedy! Also, I wore a leather outfit in the first episode.
Dangermousie's mind: straight to the gutter. Mmmm, Max...you are in for a surprise.
Darla as Guidance Councillor: So, Max, what do you remember of your childhood? Also, let me sit on the edge of the desk in a very non-student-teacher way. You and me could be fast friends, boy.
Max: Ummm...Back off, lady! Also, leave my potential girlfriend alone. I'm the one she should be talking to about her little control freak-on.
Michael: watches Hottie and Snooty play basketball with their loving parents, and no doubt thinks about the fact that his foster father's idea of fun is to show him his beer can collection. He angsts. Dangermousie approves.
Curator at alien museum: Imagine never telling anyone your secret because of fear for your loved one's life. Could you be strong enough?
Max and Dramatic Irony enter.
Maria: Hi! I am still here! I am going to say something funny and panicky to remind you.
Michael: Can we kill her?
Dangermousie: Honey, people usually start on such wishes after hooking up.
Max: is still sweet and gentle and half-smiling, even with his life at stake. Also, he gets to angst more (sating Dangermousie's soul) over Universe, loneliness, Liz, and the fact that his hairdo looks like it was done by a blind barber.
Dangermousie: You and your arms and me are going to be happy TV-crush buddies!
Maria: remarkably doesn't screw it all up.
Michael: stares at her. Dangermousie notices he is tall. And stares like the best Bollywood stalker.
Dangermousie: Ka-ching. Hi, new secondary crush!
Plot: progresses and ends.
Liz: writes something remarkably sappy and episode-summing in her diary.
Dangermousie: Can't wait to watch the next one!
The End.

Also saw The Island yesterday. The cameraman/editor/whoever responsible should be shot for all the crazy cuts. Some of the scenes went so fast you couldn't even see what was going on, and made me dizzy for hours besides. Plus, CGI at the end? Bad.
However, while nothing to write home about, I don't think it deserves to be the bomb of the summer, and Ewan and Sean Bean and Djimon were hot.

In more personal news, I stubbed my little toe quite badly. It hurts even 12 hours after the fact. Where's Max when you need him?

Date: 2005-08-05 04:18 pm (UTC)I glanced at some ep descriptions later in the season, and yup, you are right. I am also happy about that fact, which makes me quite sick, but I can't help it.
But yeah, he really doesn't look like the cowering type. if you want to beat on him you better bring some of your friends along, because otherwise...futile.
Heh, who cares. Angst!!!!
do remember him crying several times though
It's those alien hormones :)
I find Maria kinda annoying with the weird haircut. She's OK, but I like Liz better.

Date: 2005-08-05 04:25 pm (UTC)I think the crying came from abuse issues because he's not really the weepy hormonal type.

Date: 2005-08-05 04:39 pm (UTC)Maybe according to alien regs, you can only beat on people who aren't weaker than you? :) Or maybe he realized that the only way to compete with Max angst, is to get some himself.
Or maybe since it's his "Dad" he has a mental block and just freezes. I shall discover for myself.
seeming to need to be cuddled, so whatever works
Awwwwww.... Excactly.
He got the sucky parents and the sucky girlfriend and things just haven't been working well for Michael. No wonder he ends up a cynic
ROFL! Well, Maria seems more suited to him than Liz who is all quiet and very goody-two-shoes (and will call him "Max" in bed). She's oddball enough not to mind another oddball :D

OK, now I am wondering which alien gender gets PMS :D

Date: 2005-08-05 04:48 pm (UTC)And cuddleneeding!Michael always tugged at my heart more than Max, because Michael was of the "I'm going to push you all away" mentality. He always tended to try to be tough when he wasn't really.
I'm having issues confusing Roswell with Smallville.
And has Tom Hank's son showed up yet? He was a great character.

Date: 2005-08-05 04:51 pm (UTC)Awwwwww. Michael is funny but he certainly has impulse-control issues and is not about thinking things through. Which makes him a cool character but in real life of course, Max would make a much better significant other (well, if you pool was the rather small one of alien males).
I do like Max a lot because the poor guy is just so decent and SO into Liz, which is actually kinda sexy. And he's brimming over with angst...
And has Tom Hank's son showed up yet? He was a great character.
That's Tom Hanks' kid? (Maria and Liz's friend). Neat.
Never watched Smallville :)

Date: 2005-08-05 05:04 pm (UTC)Yeah, Colin Hanks is Tom's son.

Date: 2005-08-05 04:06 pm (UTC)I have only watched Roswell a few times, but I liked it. I should maybe check into it again. *nods*
Oh, and I have yet to see The Island , but...how bad can cloning Ewan really be?! Hee.

Date: 2005-08-05 04:19 pm (UTC)Yes, at one point they have two Ewans, and it's a happy happy place!
Roswell has pretty angst.

You didn't mention Alex. Was he introduced yet? Or Kyle? Both will be very prominent...well, one will until something happens. /coughs/
I shall not spoil you. I'm just that mean. (And you think Isabel is slutty? Wait 'til that whoring bitch Tess shows up!)
Oh, and I saw The Island. I liked it. It seemed...better than the rest of Michael Bay's crap. There was emotion and such in it, which is always a plus. I thought it was better than the action-sequences (and just general scenes, for that matter) in The Bourne Supremacy. People shouldn't be allowed to use handcams. People in the theater actually got motion sick at Bourne. It was sad.

Date: 2005-08-05 10:52 pm (UTC)Yeah, both Alex and Kyle have been introduced, and neither of them interests me much.
Wait 'til that whoring bitch Tess shows up
I've heard of Tess and her...reputation. :D

True. I think the budget was simply too big. If they had less blow-em-ups and filmed it on an indie budget, it would have been quite profitable.

Date: 2005-08-05 10:57 pm (UTC)Probably. The idea screamed indie flick, but, alas, it got a big budget and a director with a shit repuation. Sigh. Good thing Broken Flowers and The Constant Gardener (Is that not the best title ever?) are coming out soon. I need quality indies now! Haha.
