is my favorite scene from Meteor Garden. I love everything about it, everything, from Shan Cai's complete fearlessness and disdain to DMS' utter willingness to be horribly hurt to protect her (which is even a bigger deal seeing his impulse control problems).

MMMMM.

I promise to reply to everyone asap :)

I love that scene so much! I love how the Taiwanese tend not to shy away from relatively gory stuff like that, showing the blood dripping down Ah Si's face... And Barbie really was a fantastic Tsukushi.

That is probably one of my top 5 scenes in any dramas.

Is that Ming Dao in your icon? Isn't he going to be in a drama with Yoo Hana? *squee*

Yup, it's Ming Dao! I don't know anything about a new drama of his! But yay!! Hopefully!

Ah, great scene. The beating itself is so ... visceral (I mean, I actually quite like this scene's equivalent in Hanadan as well, but that looks much more choreographed in comparison). And Shan Cai truly takes no crap from anyone ;-). The only thing that slightly irks my sap meter is the 'If I die, don't you cry' stuff near the end (just that line, really; everything else is pretty much straight off the manga page) - but it does set up the hospital scene afterwards quite nicely. And that scene always reduces me to helpless giggles and sighs.

The die comment does seem too sappy but I agree, it sets the joke perfectly (my favorite is her little speech when she thinks he is dead. So LOLtastic). And yeah, he really looks very whaled on - my favorite part on the DMS front is that he is someone with such horrendously poor personal control and such an instinct to solve things with violence that he really has to negate some of his very basic make-up in order to just stand there. And the way Shan Cai keeps mocking the goons (before he gets there) is priceless.

I couldn't adore that bit more; she's sobbing her heart out but is still insulting him at the same time! Just gorgeous. And then the bit afterwards, when the F4 leave and it's the two of them alone, just makes me melt every time, really :-).

I love how you're summing up these characters so beautifully in one neat sentence! And you're right; I think we'd seen a few instances before (esp in the manga) where he showed some form of self-control, but this really is the most impressive example possible. And his blood spattered on the floor near him is such a nice touch ;-).

She's so awesome; I think I have a massive girl-crush on her ;-). This is one of my very favourite scenes for her from the manga as well.

I just noticed something that made me giggle when I re-watched this scene the other day: everything's all tense and wrought; the F4 are wondering what's happened to Shan Cai and who's behind the red-tagging, and she's reeling from the shock of betrayal. And then Xiao Xuen pulls out this little girly pink phone to call DMS! Ah, tw-drama budgets...

Mmm, yes. dramas feed my need for h/c in fiction quite nicely.

lol, i am in the midst of a Magicans of Love re-watch (don't ask me why, i just felt the need to subject myself to lol-tasticness and tacky velvet trousers)... BUT... i might just have to do a Meteor Garden re-watch too!
