I have just finished the first episode of the Taiwanese drama Corner with Love, starring Barbie Hsu (my favorite drama actress) and Alan Luo (who I really like).

I am in love! It's a giddy, fun, romantic delight of a drama. The plot is sort of a reverse Cinderella. Barbie's character is a rich girl, who is spoiled but not bratty (you can't help but love her as even when she is being unreasonable, she is not being mean). Her paths cross with the bristly, hot-tempered aspiring artist (but now a fry cook) played by Alan Luo.

Barbie's life is seemingly perfect -- the only child of doting rich parents, she has just gotten engaged to a man of her dreams. But her world is about to come crumbling down, as her parents lose everything and leave, sure that her rich fiance will be able to take care of her. Umm. Yeah, right. Rich fiance quickly gets engaged to another rich heiress and Barbie is left on her own, no money, no work skills, no family. The only person she knows in her new mileau is Alan Luo. Will she learn job skills and idependence? Will they fall in love? Will rich fiance come back to try to cause havoc? Will Dangermousie love all this? Heck yeah.

Look at this adorable shippy MV:

My favorite scene in the first ep? When Alan is teaching Barbie how to cook shrimp omelettes and she doesn't want to tie her hair back with a rubber band because it would ruin it, so he ends up holding her hair for her, and then can't help but lean in and smell it. Such a little, yet sexy scene. Twdramas are always so much more natural about sexuality and attraction than jdramas, for some reason.

I'm glad you loved CWL and that you like Barbie as much as I do! Barbie is so adorable in it ♥ (when /where is she not adorable anyway? XD) I like the pacing of the story, good character development and story line. Plus really cute and sweet scenes ♥ Though I ship Vic and Barbie, I think Barbie and Alan have good chemistry as well :P

CWL is so addictive. The bantering and UST between the leads is just awesome!

I love how they can switch from sweet to bickering and back in under a minute.

I love "Corner with Love". It's not supposed to be super serious or super thoughtful, but it's awfully entertaining, and plus, I love Alan Luo.

It's just such a fun, lovely fairytale.

I wasn't enamored of Alan in OutsidersII (too busy fainting over Dylan Kuo) but I love him here!

I LOVE this one. But I haven't finished it yet because the ending is pretty angsty/weepy from the looks of it. But what I've seen so far - 10 eps - is just delicious and cute and hot and I adore the quickwitted bickering the OTP engages in and how their friendship /love builds up. I hope you continue to like it. :)

It does have a happy ending though. I checked :)

I am about 2/3 of the way into the drama now, and still love it!

Hey! I don't even know how, but I found your LJ and am currently dazzled, as watching dramas and flailing over them is quite fun to do (and read). Thanks to you, I was introduced to Kingdom of the Winds (♥) and I must've bookmarked a dozen more. I would probably remain just a weird, stalkerish lurker, but I was looking through your tags and noticed that it seemed like you hadn't watched 1 Litre of Tears and if you haven't, I strongly recommend it because it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever watched, and though it made me cry buckets, it was in a good way.

I feel slightly awkward because I wrote something that long, probably reconfirming your notions of me as creepy. Sorry. /back to lurking

Hi! I don't think it's creepy at all! :)

I have heard excellent things about 1 Litre but it just sounds so unbearably sad, I don't think I'll ever be able to bear it!

I loved that scene where he smells her hair. I loved pretty much everything about the way he interacted with her. How he didn't really want to like her but just couldn't even help it. She pulled him irresistably in!
