I love period movies, so am mildly curious about upcoming The Flag, in which Ashmit Patel fights the British while having time to dance colorfully.

Let me guess the plot.

Evil English:

Plot the Ravishment of the virtuous Heroine:

But Ashmit saves her while being smeared with pomegranate juice:

Country being liberated, he retires to follow his dream as a maker of scarves to Aamir Khan in Ghajini:

Seriously though, I think this movie is fair enough reversal of things like Gunga Din.

STOP SHOWING US STILLS FROM GHAJINI!

Just when I begin to forget...

Also: this film looks pretty cool. I love anti-British imperialism tales! Bonus points for Aamir Khan, like Rang de and Lagaan.

I don't know if I "love" them per se (I don't when the story is too simplistic) but I certainly think they are fair payback for all the hundreds of movies and books which portay "ingrate colonials" as evil savages which need to be put down and civilized for their own good. Ugh.

Aamir is like a one-man fight the British industry: Rang De, Lagaan, Mangal Pandey. He fights the British and takes their wymmyn: sort of a reverse of a Victorian novel :)

I keep forgetting Mangal Pandey! Note to self: must see this film. I've heard it's awful, but... Rani... Aamir... beating the British Empire!

MP isn't awful. It's not as good as it could have been but I certainly didn't find it a waste of $10 and 3 hours when I saw it.

That English guy on the left is seconds away from twirling his mustache before accusing someone of being an "accursed montebank" and tying the heroine to train tracks.

I would pay money to see BW do a remake of 'Perils of Pauline!'

No movie should ever be headlined by Ashmit Patel. :P

You know, man, every time the soundtrack to Ghajini makes me excited for that movie, you go an post a shirtless Aamir pic from Ghajini.

You're in some bollywood fever here. ^^ I don't know these movies you write about, but from the last picture one title came to my mind. Have you heard about Lagaan? It's the favorite film of my mom, if she hasn't seen it at last a 100 times than never. X3

Yup. The guy in the last pic, Aamir Khan, starred in Lagaan. I confess I am in the odd minority and don't really care for it, but it's very famous.
