My next jdrama is Byakuyakou, starring Ayase Haruka and Yamada Takayuki.

This MV so sold me:

This drama has such cheerful topics as murder, dysfunction and child abuse.

Ryo (Yamada Takayuki) is in love with the beautiful Yukiho (Ayasa Haruka) and has been since childhood, until one day he discovers she is being child-prostituted by her own mother to his sicko father. A pair of murders later and Ryo and Yukiho are free...but they must stay apart and away from each other until the statute of limitations expires while dealing with the trauma and guilt of their past.

I adore this show. I think I ended up making three vids for it in the span of two days - that is how much I loved it. It's so dark and twisty and full of angst.


At one point you have to wonder why these two totally f-ed up people are trying so hard to reach that 15 year mark, when they so clerly should go their sperate ways or just turn themselves in.


Then, you remember: they really are the only two people in the world who care about each other. The guilt, loneliness, obsessiveness, and love that tied them together was present in every scene they shared. Even when they tried to break away from one another (either to protect the other person or to try and find happiness), they were still always tied together and pulled back together by fate.

For some reason I thought you watched the show already. Did you make some post about it before because I think I watched it from your recs.

I tried and failed with this one. I just haven't been in the mood for dark angst the last year. What is wrong with me?
But I know that if you do recaps or write-ups, I will try watching it again, because you always manage to convince me with your insight.

Heh! I know plenty of people who have a darker taste in dramas...KKK2003 maxed me out e.g. and I never finished, but a lot of people loved it.
