My upcoming movie slate...
Aug. 25th, 2007 05:26 pm
(this is from Saawariya)
I admit that for the rest of the year, all my anticipated movies are Indian. There are a lot, but I am only going to list Top 8, with trailers. In order of my interest.
1. Jodha-Akbar
Date: October 12
Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai.
Why: Put together the most gorgeous guy and gal (with psycho chemistry) in Bollywood for a romantic epic, with battle elephants, swords, and starcrossed lovers. Directed by one of my favorites Ashutosh Gowariker. I can't wait.
Trailer: They are keeping this one closer than a secret of making a neutron bomb. No trailer, no stills, nada yet.
2. Saawariya
Date: November 9
Starring: Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor (not related), Salman Khan, Rani Mukherji
Why: I don't know the story as they are keeping it quite secret (a very common practice with Bolly movies) but this is the first internationally produced Bollywod movie (by Columbia! Does it mean it can be in regular theaters?). It's directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, my favorite Bollywood director ever. I have yet to see a movie of his I didn't adore. Not only that, but the trailer (see below) is one of the most gorgeous things ever, Moulin Rouge on opium...poetic and beautiful and just...if it looks like this I don't care about the plot. This actually might move ahead of J-A.
Trailer:
Larger version here. Worth seeing the larger version trust me. Just scroll down.

3. Om Shanti Om
Date: November
Starring: Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukhone
Why: I always anticipate SRK movies, but this is also directed by Farah Khan who did the delicious, hilarious Main Hoon Na, and this looks cractastic, a sort of Bolly parody/tribute, with SRK as a bit actor in the 70s who gets killed and reincarnated as a big modern star. Still in love with the same girl though...
Trailer:
4. Laga Chunari Mein Daag
Date: October 12
Starring: Rani Mukherji, Konona Sen Sharma, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan
Why: Just look at the trailer. Plus, Abhi/Rani again!
Trailer:
5. Goal
Date:
Starring: John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Arshad Warsi
Why: John. Bipasha. Arshad. I looooove that cast. Plus, I love soccer.
Trailer:
6. No Smoking
Date: October 19
Starring: John Abraham, Ayesha Takia
Why: It is arhouse that looks REALLY interesting. Thus I can get art cred AND John shirtless (he is picking the most interesting projects).
Trailer:
7. Aaja Nachle
Date: November 30
Starring: Madhuri Dixit, Akshaye Khanna, Kunal Kapoor
Why: This is Madhuri's first movie in YEARS. She was the biggest star who retired to have a family, so this is going to be fascinating.
Trailer:
8. Bhool Bhulayiaa
Date: October 12 (side note. Why? It's going to get killed by J-A. And it's not like it's arthouse, like LCMD).
Starring: Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja
Why: I am iffy on this but I like the cast.

Date: 2007-08-26 12:53 am (UTC)OMG...wow...Laga Chunari Mein Daag looks AWESOME(yay RANI/ABHI!!)
And haha..I laughed when you said that Bhool Bhulaiya looked iffy:P It is actually based on a Malayalam movie(and I've seen the tamil version) and both are AWESOME. I thought that Rani might play the role of Gangha in the hindi version but I am so so so happy that Vidya is playing it...trust me...if they do it right-it'll be awesome!! I would say that Bhool Bhulaiya is my most anticipated Hindi movie this year(Seriously...the trailer looks bad...but the tamil one is AWESOME and all other versions habe been as well:P)
Goal looks interesting(Bips/John is cute:P) and I adore Arshward Warsi so much! No Smoking and Aaja Nachle don't look that interesting IMO.
Guuh!! I wish they'd confirm the Kajol/SRK movie already so we can start celebrating!!

Date: 2007-08-26 03:55 pm (UTC)I hope LCMD turns out to be good. It had potential. I am mad that there's nothing for J-A yet. Also, that Aaja Nachle trailer is just a teaser. I can't wait for the actual trailer! :D
