Never, ever fly USAir, people. They kept me on the line for four (!!!) hours, only to then tell me there was nothing they could do. It wasn't the fault of the harried-sounded woman on the phone (she sounded like she was afraid I was going to yell at her, no surprise if they kept their customers on line for hours) so I was very nice and polite to her, at which she was very surprised. *pats self on back, basks in glow of good manners*
But, anyway, that is not what the post is about.
What is it about?
By browsing TB I just discovered something that made me GLEEEEEEE! That made my horrid four-hour wait a bit better and unleashed my not-so-inner fangirl.
What is it?
Hrithik and Aishwarya have a swordfight in Jodha-Akbar. As in, with each other. Fighting with each other. With swords. In period costume. As the OTP.
Oh my GUH.
Just when I thought I couldn't love the director/screenwriter any more than I do. "Wow," thought I. "There will be period clothes, and Hrithik and Aishwarya riding horses, and maybe even a presence of elephants." But that's all I expected. And there was some mention of sword-fighting training but I assumed for the usual 'hot young emperor beats off scurvy rebels/kings/bandits/fangirls' stuff. But EEEEEE!
EEEEEEE!
This is going to console me for Bajirao Mastani falling through, I can tell. And I get to see Aish as a warrior after all!
Seriously, people. Imagine. Hrithik. Aishwarya. Swords. Will there be panting? :D
Though the practical gal in me would point out she must be quite an optimist to take on a guy not only with much longer reach than her, but also someone who must have 6 inches and 70lb on her. Most of those comprised of muscle.
P.S. In case you have ignored my LJ utterly for the past year, J-A is a Bollywood epic coming out October this year, chronicles the love affair between Emperor Akbar and his wife Jodha (the parents in the mother of all Bolly epics, Mughal-e-Azam). I guess 'powerful emperor' really means 'hottie.' I can live with that.
Oh boy, yes I can.
Especially after seeing Hrithik and Aishwarya sizzle in Dhoom 2. I never saw her have chemistry like that with anyone, not even Salman.

Date: 2007-02-16 10:20 pm (UTC)But yes. This sounds awesome. I don't think Kareena and SRK crossed swords in Asoka. He taught her and then later they fought in battle on opposing sides, but they didn't fight directly (btw, how cool was that awesome sword/whip he used in the movie? How he didn't chop himself in half I'll never know.)
I am trying to figure out why they'd swordfight. I mean, that would have to be a heck of a marital disagreement :D Or maybe it's before the marriage? *wonders*

Date: 2007-02-16 10:31 pm (UTC)those 'swordfight as a metaphor for something else' things?
One can only hope, one can only hope...

Date: 2007-02-16 10:55 pm (UTC)Maybe it's one of those tragic loves where they turn on each other at some point (for political reasons) and end up fighting, though they still kinda love/hate each other?
Orrr, maybe that's how they meet? But, yeah, I read that article, and I felt so bad for Waggle. He got hurt, but he kept filming. Awww. Go Hrithik! :)
But, yeah, this is gonna be one HAWT movie. :D
It'll be Asoka with better dancing. ;)

Date: 2007-02-16 11:10 pm (UTC)On balance, I liked it but didn't love it. But I was very taken aback when the news came out that Hrithik was going to play Akbar because my previous image of Akbar was the portly, extremely un-hot Prithviraj Kapoor. I think it's all meta amusing, because I remember watching last year's Taj Mahal and thinking that the portly unappealing father of Shah Jahan in that one is actually the romantic hero of MeA. Odd :)
Orrr, maybe that's how they meet?
That's my bet, actually ;) Though how awesome if it's the other possibility. The aaaaangst.
He got hurt, but he kept filming. Awww. Go Hrithik! :)
Maybe he fancies himself as Bolly Viggo Mortensen? :D The part that caught my attnetion wasn't the hurtin' but the whole filming on Valentines Day and so not spending it with wifey. If I were someone ditched for work of VDay, my husband would come home in a stretcher :D
It'll be Asoka with better dancing. ;)
LOL.

Date: 2007-02-16 11:35 pm (UTC)It's true. Depending on the situation in the Mughal era, the person who is the star in one movie is the old patriarch in another. ;)
Apparently on the same set he got hurt riding a horse, and got dragged along for a bit, but continued filming...:)

Date: 2007-02-16 11:42 pm (UTC)I do like other 'oldies' actors: Raj Kapoor can make me swoon like a fangirl, and I adore Shammi (yahoooooooo!!!!!) and Shashi. And of course young (only young) Rishi, as well as Amitabh and Dharmendra. Just Dilip didn't do it for me in MeA.
And I've never seen *gasp* Dev Anand in anything.
Let's hope hrithik has good health insurance.
