HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am gleeful as the lovely Mr. Mousie got me (as New Year's presents) the DVDs of Tatta Hitotsu No Koi (English, Malay and Chinese subs) and Hello My Teacher (also known as Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy). Actually, he just told me that he knows I love dramas and get them on ebay so he got me a gift certificate to buy those.

Also, I started Green Rose (an ep and a half in so far) and it's excellent. [livejournal.com profile] alexandral, it's rather A Love to Killish.

And, an ep and a half in, all of a sudden, it's like a switch flipped on and I am madly in love with Nobuta Wo Produce. Especially Akira (though I like Shouji too). I can see what everyone sees in it, now.

I have finished Jasper Fford's Thursday Next books and am reading a book about Theodore Roosevelelt's childhood.

And I watched the Munnabhai sequel which was funny but not as good as the original.

Did I miss any juicy Veronica Mars or Battlestar Galactica spoilers? Any fandom conflagrations (other than the anti-Wincest wank which, even though I don't care for Wincest myself, was nutty)?

Oh, and I simply must get the Wallflower manga as I am in love with the anime. Also, two eps in I love Noi (the best friend) and am a mad S/K shipper.

So yeah, still obsessive.

I repeat, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!

I need metaing on green rose.

Glad you finally gave in to Nobuta, it is awesome(and I hope Nobuko fits in to your category of jdrama characters you like)

And Wallflower...it is so very, very much love. I need to watch it after ep 1, it's just that youtube kept pausing every 5 seconds while i was watching...and how can you NOT love Noi...I mean, she instantly acknowledges the sheer coolness of Sunako, is relatively unruffled by the guys aside from her crush on Takenaga(and that's more of a normal manga secondary otp crush than the obsessive in-love-with-his-looks crushed that all the other girls have) isn't remotely scared of Kyohei and is an unrepentant shipper(later on, she flat out tells others that express an interest in those two to forget it because they belong to the other.) After Sunako and Kyohei, she and Takenaga are my favorites, and he's kinda riding on her success..

And Sunako/Kyohei are one of my favorite OTPs, and my favorite crazy OTP.

*twirls at her double "successes"*

Yeah, I just mataed on GR extensively :)

Re: Wallflower. I really want to check out the manga now. Because the thing is hilarious and sweet.

Re: NwP. Some of it is trippy (monkey hand? Ugh) but I do like it now. Though Kame, who I found quite appealing in Tattakoi, totally looks like a girl here.

Re: youtube pausing. I find the solution to that is to pause at the very start and let the entire thing download (with the red meter being all done) and then play. Sometimes it pauses because of the file being so huge so not loading fully quickly enough.

Yeah, forhotten polish told me how to fix youtube pausing, and I'm up to ep 5.

The anime cut out one of my favorite early stories, where the whole group goes to the hot springs, but I hope they put it back in. The anime is considerably more Kyohei/Sunako centric than the manga, but it's mostly a case of side stuff with the other guys being trimmed out. Still, they are both about the mosdt awesome thing ever, and the anime MUST get licensed stateside.

Maybe they moved it? They moved stuff with Ouran a lot (to good effect IMo). We'll see :)

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. As long as it gets included.

I started the manga today, and was going to do a separate post on it, but since it was going to mainly consist of crazy inarticulate glee, I might as well just mention it in a reply.

But seriously!

I LOVE IT WITH AN UNHOLY SCARY LOVE OF TEN THOUSAND SUNS. OR BISHOUNEN. Whatever is shinier. :D

I vote for the post mainly consisting of crazy inarticulate glee.

And in the world of Wallflower, bishounen are shinier.

What amazes me is that, when I first heard of it, I thought it sounded boring...

Happy New Year!

Thank you for the rec - I am definitely going to check it now, [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore was mentioning it too. I must watch something without Hyun Bin ASAP, I am getting too obsessed.

And big EEEEEEEEEEE for "Nobuta" love!!

Have you watched Nobuta yet? It's really good. Crazy but really lovely (friendship-centric).

Yes, I watched it straight after "Kurosagi", it is really good, very intelligent script.

(And yes, I am going to use my Hyun Bin icon with DIMPLES :D)

Nothing wrong with Hyun Bin love (you should check out Millionaire's First Love btw)... :)

But yeah, Green Rose is a lot of fun. And, I know you love spoilers, it's an angsty, revenge, ALtKish drama with a happy ending!.

Happy New Year too!! I'm so glad you're liking Nobuta wo Produce. I remember you saying that it was pretty weird at first. It's my 2nd fave j-drama now (after watching Long Vacation, I'm afraid it moved to 2nd spot, LOL).

I really love Akira's character it Nobuta, btw. I think he's just the coolest and craziest punk to be found yet in j-dramas ^__^

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
yeah, it really is very weird, but I think I am getting used to it. And the same with Akira. At first he really freaked me out, but now, either his mannerisms softened, or I got used to them or a mix, because I really love him in this one.

My fave jdoramas are ranked thusly, so far (I've seen others, but those are the ones I really love):

1. Pride
2. Kurosagi
3. Forbidden Love
4. Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake
5. Tatta Hitotsu No Koi (though this will move up once I finish)
6. Hana Yori Dango
7. Gokusen

I'll see where NwP will fall. I haven't finished Long Vacation yet *blushes* But I really must, soon, as it's TK!

I am watching Boku Dake no Madonna at the moment. Takizawa Hideaki = hotness x 1000. But the girl? OMG. So annoying. I'm still in ep 1, but Kyon's character is bugging me 'cause I just want to smack him for being so courteous and obliging. His role here is a bit similar with the role he played in Strawberry on the Shortcake (worth checking out btw, though *cough* beware of pseudo incestual love).

And you should finish Long Vacation. It started out a bit slow for me but I loved it by ep 4. Kimura-san has gorgeous hair. And in more than 1 occasion he looked a bit like Jerry Yan. I'm probably the only one to think like this but I swear, he does...!! :D

Aww yay!! Hello My Teacher! I LOVE it. I mean, its not cracktastic like magicans of love (which is my basis of comparison now, lol) or anything, but i just think its really sweet and i love the stories of the students, and both guys in the love triangle are goode guys (if not a bit boring for one of them.. but thats a lot better than evil like some o.o). yeah.. cute is just the word for it. It landed on my list of faves for now. ^_^

HMT really does seem sweet, and angsty. The actress seems to really like to do teacher-student stuff (she was also the lead in Sang-Doo, with Rain). Hmmm.

But yeah, it sounded angsty and sweet and cool and the guy looked yummy, so how could I resist?

LRM was funny and all, but it felt preachy as opposed to MBBS which felt unforced. And MBBS had a solid foundation and this didn't.

From: [identity profile] wasabi-girl1.livejournal.com
Exactly. It did seem forced. And it wasn't as funny, I didn't think it neared MBBS is hilarity or heartwarming melodrama.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Feliz Año Nuevo!!! Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu!!!! That's "Happy New Year" in Japanese if my Japanese isn't failing me XDDDDDD

Nobuta wo produce is LOVE!!! I just happen to love Akira and Nobuko a lot!!!! AND OMG YAY FOR THOSE DORAMA DVDS!!!

I have the first five episodes of Green Rose but I haven't watched them yet, but given your totally positive opinion of it I'll have to give them a try!!!! ^^

I hope you like. GR is a 'serious' kdrama, so it's different in feel from My Girl.

Btw, have you ever watched Mars? Or Kurosagi? Because I'd really rec those two!

Hooray for Akira love! He was totally my first real jdorama crush, and he still holds an important place in my heart. Oh Yamapi, why must he be so adorable? (because he is totally adorable in NwP, unlike in Kurosagi, when he was just scorchingly hot and angsty...)

Date: 2007-01-02 04:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Akira is awesome. It's interesting how his character won me over because he was freaking me out to start with. Also, kudos to Yamapi because this character is in another universe from Kurosaki.

The thing is, I know there are no OTPs in NwP, but I can't help but ship his and Horihita Maki's characters in this because of Kurosagi...

Between whom?

Between Akira and Nobuta... well, it's entirely one-sided, but there is this one shining and glorious scene that sky-rocketed this non-OTP OTP onto my Top Ten OTP List... I don't want to say any more, because I don't want to spoil you, but I watched NwP first, and it's the reason I was so rabid for Kurosagi.
