Almost drabble

He comes in softly, feet unshod. He can sense her presence in the warm darkness of the room. She is asleep, and even though he cannot see with his eyes, still blinded from the artificial light, he knows she is stretched across the wide bed, deep in forgetfulness, permeating the sheets with her warmth. He wants nothing more than to take off the rest of his clothes and crawl into bed, receiving a drowsy sigh of content in greeting and relaxing into the feel of her arms draping themselves over him.
He wonders how he always knows she is there. It is a certainty that has burrowed into his bones and he doesn’t think he could ever dislodge it. Quietly, quickly, with a minimum of graceful movement, he begins to move toward the bed, almost feeling the blankets on his skin.
Ship noise. Muddy swim to reality. Lord Vader opens his ruined eyes. The darkness is absolute.

And this one of Anakin/Vader because it's so deeply horrifying on some level, showing how he's gotten dehumanized and consumed by his role. Poor, reckless Anakin!
