Our angst is Shakesperean...

(Sorry for spamming, y'all).

It is KILLING me that nobody on my friendslist except for bae_mac and timescout is watching this. This is the best drama of the season, even better than East of Eden!

I also think Kingdom of the Winds is fast turning into 'and which character's life shall be destroyed today' type of drama but not in a tacky way. It's positively Shakespearean with its dysfunctional fratricidal families, manipulative kings, fate and cursed destinies. Pretty good.

Exhibit A: Muhyul, unknown and unknowing Prince of Gogureyo, cursed to kill his father and destroy the country, who grew up as a slave and is now under orders to kill King Yuri, the man he does not know is his father, and the man he hates above all:



Exhibit 2: Yeon, until recently a Princess of Puyo, loved and protected by all. Now her father has been falsely accused of treason and executed and she barely managed to escape with her life thanks to Muhyul. She has no money, position or title any more, and cannot ever show her face in Puyo. All she is now is a slave, with no protection or hope for the future. Please tell me her disgusting new owner isn't going to try to sell her to that tribal leader he supplies girls to. Ugh.



Exhibit 3: King Yuri, the embattled King of Gogureyo. He's had to watch his eldest, beloved son sacrifice his life to save him and his Kingdom. He's had to give up his second son years earlier when the son was a baby in order to escape a curse. No wonder he is plagued by nightmares.





Muhyul is just so pretty:



King Yuri is plagued by nightmares. You know what is really sad? Even once Muhyul finds out who he really is, readjustment to that sort of life would be pretty hard. A life of slavery and evil ninjaism is hard to shake off. He is developing into a pretty bitter realist, isn't he? No room for shiny ideals much - he sees the way they are crushed.





Yeon is entirely alone in the world, she who has always been surrounded by friends and servants before. And while she has valuable and useful skills and a great deal of courage, she has been quite happy and sheltered before (the one really joyful character) and dealing with this, and with her father being murdered, must be awful.













Unknowing half-brothers meet again. Oh Muhyul: your desperation, hopelessness and quest for revenge are so not what Haemyeong would have wanted for you.















I like the youngest Prince having some sort of an OTP :) Haemyeong had one, Muhyul is having a star-crossed love with Yeon, and Seriyu the Princess will totally have a thing with Haemyeong's sworn follower. So why not the youngest prince?



Man, is Muhyul ever not getting hurt?

What ep does the OTP get together? I am rather impatient on this unless the chemistry is amazing and so much fun (ie. Sujini and Dam Duk) XD

Define: 'get together.' It's pretty clear he is madly in love with her and she really likes him but they haven't kissed (or seeing it's a sageuk, hugged) or anything yet, except for the bit where he fell on top of her, or similar.

I love all the angsty OTP type stuff so I don't mind no smoochy action yet.

Ooooh... that's good to hear :D I guess in sageuks you can't expect much smoochy scenes which is fine as long as the OTP really rocks. I am also watching Painter of Winds, besides KoW. I love it, btw :D Probably coz I really like Moon Geun Young, which makes me a little biased.

But there is plenty of angsty forbidden OTP stuff. I think in the next ep she nurses him in a cave...*drooooool*

It's funny, because I love KotW and Eden, and really really liked what I've seen of Jang Hyuk's Tazza so far (I need to watch more to decide if I love it) but I have no interest in PotW or Beethoven Virus at all. No idea why. I have this irrational feeling that nothing happens in PotW - is it true or am I just having a bizarre thought process about it? probably the latter. I guess my lack of enthusiam for it is because I am not a fan of either of the leads? hmm.

I think I would die if I saw Dam Duk and Sujini kissing. That would actually kind of ruin the whole thing since part of the reason why I love sageuk and also the romance is that they are in that 'I want you but I can't have you and we must not be too obvious about it in public' kind of way... heeeeeee :D

I didn't even finish the first ep of Beethoven's Virus. It was too odd for me, and I wanted to cringe seeing LJA trying so hard to be comical. She wasn't bad, but OMG. Please reserve that kind of character for someone less naturally beautiful/elegant than her. Perhaps a more comical character or something ^^

As for PotW, the pacing wasn't too bad for me. I haven't finished watching the first ep yet either (always got cut off by doing something else), but from what I have seen so far it is quite entertaining. It's a different taste of the sageuks I have seen so far. Cross dressing and paintings and all :D I do have my reservations about the pairing though. Such a large age gap. We'll see.

I've been told/read that there is quite a bit of girl love (satisfying whatever the female equivalent of slash is), with a particular scene with both girls standing on a swing and the female protagonist, erm, looks at the world around her, sees the colours and, erm, has some sort of epiphany... which is code is some other happening if you get me drift...

This one is definitly on my want-to-watch list, but with East of Eden, Tazza, Love Marriage, re-watching 9 ends and 2 outs and Long Love Letter whenever I get the chance I just can't fit it in. Which is a shame because it does sound good, maybe next month...if NaNoWrimo is going well.

eeee! I feel so guilty! I have not watch this since I finished episode 8. Argh! I guess everything Korean, no make that everything has to take a back seat now because I am bitten by a vampire and it seems like I lost interest in human boys/men.

LOL! I'll continue watching this after I am done reading the Twilight Saga..well, if I can tear myself away from Edward..lol!

I am still bothered by Yeojin..he looks like a girl trapped in a boy's body!
